Willie2015: I disagree with you on the highlighted statement...The point is FBNH needs to restore invetors lost confidence in its operating model and strategic direction..These would be achieved through strong risk management, effective corporate governance which protects shareholders funds from reckless financing and investment decisions and reallocation of investible funds to areas that maximizes return on share holders wealth...That is why current management through dint of perspiration must surpass its peers in the industry and take back its market leadership the bank is once known..However, i still believe the long term holding risk of the stock is still minimal compared to short term. 3 Likes |

This market is simply a game... Master the rules before you play. Define what you want. You are either here for short, mid or long term gains... Follow your instincts as you are solely liable for the outcome of your decisions! THE BIG SMART GUY |

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Willie2015: 11:13pm On Jul 16, 2016 |
Coolcash1: It is simply not a walk in the park for FBNH to restore investors confidence, have strong risk management and Corporate governance etc etc. It is simple on paper but takes time in reality and equally not funny when you have the highest exposure to Oil & Gas sector in the current economic climate, coupled with tight industry competition and a highly regulated sector. I will only worry about long term holding if I have the fund like Dangote or Buffet to buy substantial stake. I dont have the time to wait for mgt to perspire, when I can make cool dough on some other stocks. Once I make 100k - 200k on a stock, I simply take my gains and move on. 1 Like |

locodemy: Bros, this your comment too is a little bit provocative and exasperating..You shouldn't have gone this far...Its important we appreciate and understand that all of us cannot be on the same side of the coin. Some will rather choose to differ and see issues from different perspectives which we musn't take personal or offense for....Please let's continue welcome such views and better convey our disagreement in a subtle way that is clear, coherent and concise without raising dust...This I say is what has made this forum unique, intellectually engaging, informative, educative and hilarious at times (e.g mr &Mrs mercylicious Agba ) One love bro. 5 Likes |

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by fxuser: 11:59am On Jul 17, 2016 |
ukay2: Those figures were the various market capitalisation for the d different banks. ''What is 'Market Capitalization' Market capitalization is the total Naira market value of all of a company's outstanding shares. Market capitalization is calculated by multiplying a company's shares outstanding by the current market price of one share. The investment community uses this figure to determine a company's size.'' - Investopedia (u can use www.investopdia.com for investment terms etc) The other figure ''YTD'' was the share price performance between Jan to last trading date. FBN still under performing the market since its share price was much higher in Jan compared to last week friday unlike the other 2 banks. Hope this helps |

Godisfaithful: Bros, Thats the irony that keeps deceiving us, we have devalued our currency and still we cant find the foreign inflows... from 199 to 250 to 280 to 283 now 293 to dollar as at friday. if really we are an investment haven as claimed, FDI suppose done flood our economy since. Just saying.. |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by feelamong(m): 1:20pm On Jul 17, 2016 |
kentoto: We haven't devalued enough to attract FPIs.. Forwarded: Guys - Just to update you, CBN has finally agreed to completely float the NGN freely so that it can trade at any level where market forces determine. It will be noted that although CBN had introduced a flexible interbank fx mkt on June 20, it never really allowed the NGN to trade above 283/284. CBN had indirectly pegged the NGN at that level through daily interventions at 281.5/283 levels. Unfortunately, this action did not go down well with offshore portfolio investors who felt that despite announcing the floating of the NGN through the interbank fx market, the CBN really only moved the currency peg. Therefore they weren't willing to bring in their much-needed dollars as expected by the CBN - a development that the CBN confirmed for itself when it embarked on an international roadshow to interact with investors in US and UK last week. Faced with the stark reality of the feedback from these dissatisfied investors, CBN had a quick conference call with banks on Friday to grant them leave to trade the NGN at whatever rates they can match a willing seller with a willing buyer. Consequently, interbank fx rate had closed at 292 last Friday. It will be interesting to see the rate at which the NGN will trade next week and whether offshore investors will start moving in significant amounts of dollars in response to CBN's gesture. 8 Likes |

Raider76: No, PMB is wrong...Mordern economics requires innovative and creative thinking and not medieval approach...The initial measure- capital control used by the CBN was only for a short term as continuity of such policy would have thrown the economy into perpetual wilderness and place untold hardship on the people...In fact, it would have been more terrible than what we are currently experiencing as a country... Devaluation can either make or mar an economy depending on how it's managed...With the crude oil prices reaching historical lowest levels and full recovery not in sight there is no way our country will survive and continue to grow - no thanks to the Dutch disease that our economy has suffered over the years. One of the key benefits of devaluation is economic stabilization it will restore which we are in dire need of currently...What I think government should do so that it doesn't become disastrous is to continue to work at diversifying the economy, provide socio-economic infrastructures including power, pursue regressive tax system, ease cost of doing business, and strengthen agric and agro allied sector of the economy. 2 Likes |

Coolcash1: You can do the bolded part of your post without devaluation. And finally PMB took the advice of the modern economists (or rather currency speculators). Let's see what it does to the exchange rate. I know one of the excuses is to sy we'll "he did it too late". 2 Likes |

ukay2: Sorry for the late reply... Requirements for Intermember Transfer; • Account Opening Form (KYC Form) to be duly filled by you and returned with a utility bill and valid means of your identification. Get this form from Morgan. • Completed inter-member form (you can also get this form from Morgan). • Current CSCS statement of account (Get this from Investment One, or print from your CSCS online account, if you have one). • Letters of authority to CSCS and Resident house (Investment One) • Your resident house may ask you to pay some fees Your target broking firm (Morgan Capital) should initiate the transfer request online to the resident broking firm (Investment One). As soon as the resident broking firm approves the request, CSCS would transfer the account immediately. Note: You should notify Investment One of your intention to transfer your account to enable a speedy process. They may try to frustrate the transfer process (especially if your portfolio is worth a lot of money). If this happens, just send an email to SEC and it will be done. Alternatively, you may copy SEC in all your correspondences with Investment One. This way, they will not try to frustrate you. SEC (sec@sec.gov.ng) Njoku Agnes (anjoku@sec.gov.ng) 4 Likes 1 Share |
