Money from the Atm machine put into your bag, you moved it from the atm point to the market and in the market, you added 5k which you removed from your wallet before handing it over to the seller who confirmed it incomplete. The atm machine could be a suspect in this case, but I seriously doubt it short payed you.

Can't be certain but I suspect so on a couple of occasions. However these days I cannot see myself making such a transaction in cash. Any vendor whatsoever that bills me more than 20k should have an account.

You must first discount that the seller did not use "sleight of hand". Personally I have never heard of anyone under/overpaid by atm. But i know of a person who found a fake 1k in the money dispensed by atm.
i've be overpaid before

Yes I have been cheated by the ATM in Enugu. GTB Bank Rangers Avenue. I had no dime on me and used my GTB card to get 20k to pay a painter guy. I withdrew 20k and rushed to the painter shop and on counting 15k out to give him,I noticed that 3pcs of N100 bills were inserted in between 17pcs of N1,000 bills. Meaning I got 17,300. I called my account officer and reported and he said such thing never happened at their bank. on further investigation with my banker friends I found out the ATM machine doesn't recognize notes but have boxes where various amounts are loaded. it means the person loading the cash removed some N1,000 bills and replaced them with N100 bills.

NB: Always count your money at the ATM

Last week, I was at Enugu for a wedding and wanted to buy something worth of N65,000 from market. I went to use my Ecobank ATM card on Union Bank ATM along Ziks Avenue. I withdrew N20,000 three times i.e. N60,000 and put it in my bag. On getting to the seller, I removed N5,000 from my wallet and added to the money I withdrew from ATM. After counting the money twice in my presence, he said that the money is N62,000. I counted it back myself and it was short of N3,000. I searched my bag again and nothing was left inside

I was sure of the N5,000 from my wallet, and so definitely the shortage was from the ATM. Having withdrawn three times and having a shortage of N3,000, It therefore means that I was paid N19,000 on every N20,000 withdrawn.

I couldn’t go back to the bank for complaint since it was ATM transaction and I have never experienced such.

Na so I lost N3k for this hardship

Nigerians and English are like oil and water. OP, "payed" abi "paid". Which kain tin be dis na?

ADONBILIVIT!!! I suspect the magic abracadabra hands of the seller or it might be the work of that bottle of ORUJEJE you gulped at MAMA CHIBUZOR's SHEKPE joint.....I've never experienced such, neither have I heard from others, but all I l know is that our trust for ATM machines is that in which when you try to confirm the amount immediately after dispensing, people on the queue will be like;

Re: Have You Ever Been Short Payed By An ATM Machine? by VANENON(f): 7:17pm On Jul 17, 2016
I have been overpaid before.I cant remember exact amount but it was either #5K or #15K.
I didn't count, got home dropped the cash and went out. I got a call before I got home from the bank telling me I was over paid by their ATM.
I asked they wait till I get home to confirm. When I got home at night i confirmed and called the lady back. The next day i returned the cash.
From my own experience means they are usually aware.

I was once short paid by an ATM in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The ATM is a First Bank ATM located within the First Bank premises in Panseke, Abeokuta, Ogun State and it was on a Sunday. I quickly reported to the security personnel on duty that I had been short paid by the ATM by N1000 and I was asked to come back the following day, a Monday, to complain.

However, I didn't have to go back to complain because before the day ended, the N1000 was reversed and I received a credit alert of N1000 indicating a debit of that amount has been reversed.

I will advise that you still go and complain. Something could be done about it.

Sometime last 2years, I have good money in my account then, I use my ATM almost everyday, something came to me that I should check my balance before I withdraw money at Adeniyi Jones ikeja. After collecting #30k, I check my balance #50k was deducted. I quickly went inside bank and make complain. They give me form to filled. The money return back to my account after a week. It now occour to me that I have been cheated since all these while.

No, I was with him as he was counting the money.
I was surprised because I have never experienced that or heard of it
the shortage was never from ATM. That I can asure you! ATM can only debited you without dispence cash! And its reversible, think of where you branch b4 the market, sombody must have pick porket you. But if u insist! That will have to enter Gunness Book because I'm sure u r the 1st in the World t experience this.

You can get your money back if you're sure it's from the ATM. Happen once when I asked a colleague to withdraw for me. Attempted to withdraw 100k (40,40 and 20), got less than 50k in total. Went to the bank, explained in detail to them and I was refunded.

Happened to me at UBA ATM inside Ariaria market in 2012. Withdrew 20k thrice and got 57k total instead of 60k.

I always have this feeling that anything in Aba is all about wayo. Something in me told me to count the money before leaving the ATM, so I did. Went straight inside the bank to lay complain, they never knew I understand Igbo language. One of the CCR was telling her colleague that I was the 9th person that is complaining that day, that she can't really understand why the machine is shorting cash by 1k.

Mehn, they didn't even ask me to fill any form, they pointed one man behind the counter to me that I should go and meet him. Immediately I told the man what happened, he just dipped hand inside his drawer and gave me 3k without any filling of form. Since that day, whenever I withdraw from any ATM that's not my bank, I always count the money even till date. I no wan hear story for this kind hard time.

nd if u count money from ATM pple go dey look u like bush pikin. me go just jejely go one coner go count ohh
