My uncle is a PS but my hatred for this naija police keeps growing. Always mad when I see some on black looking haggard and hungry collecting #50-#100 on the road. Imagine, I met my uncle to help get an agent refund my money so he consulted one of his friends in town to help. When the guy, came around they they started discussing how they operate based on yahoo boys things and the man concluded that policeman no good. Mehn, I gave up. The guy started dribbling me like mad cos my uncle is outstationed and I finally let them be. Anyway, the agent refunded the money but I lost 5k to him.
Ffwd sometime in October last year, I was on public transit when we got to a police checkpoint. I was sitting close to the door with my bag and they ordered me to get down. Two of them were standing by so one was searching me while the other moved on to other passengers. Once he saw my laptop (PTDF receiptless), food done don. I immediately remembered my guy who's been advising me to get a receipt. Anyway, I immediately manned up to them. "Is this laptop yours?", "yes". On it... Ok! My pic on display on the lock screen. "Enter your password"... Viola! Desktop displaying arsenal 15/16 team photo. Ok! By now they have left every other person...."Ok go see that officer inside our van across the road". "where your receipt? "oga this laptop doesn't have a receipt, it's federal government property". "oya find us something". "oga I don't have anything to give you, unless I have to call my director". That's how they started demanding for money until we got to 5h. "officer, na only one five dey ma wallet and I no fit give u 5h". Then several threats followed... They'll take me to the station, they'll ask my bus to leave, I'm an armed robbery, this is bush, and so on. I was just calm and smiling all through. The other passengers were agitated and some with the drivers started begging them, some pleading with me to give them 5h. Thank God they didn't reason my phone and with my bag and laptop in their van, I took some steps away and called my director. My oga, a gentle man only asked me to ascertain my location and where the police were from and said I should follow then to the station. He also asked to speak with them but when I walked back to give them the phone they all refused. In the end, they returned my bag intact after wasting almost 30 mins. I was just smiling and laughing inside with their background remarks: "Na so una dey do because u know one or two persons", "comot from here fast".
Somewhere in my mind I know it was a risky venture cos we were in the middle of no where....same road I've heard military men threaten a guy in my bus that we are nowhere, they can finish him and hide him in the bush, nobody will ask. I promised myself never to carry that kind mind in such environment again.... Another time I had to part with 5h to one of the policemen attached to a bank after I almost fought a bank security over phone usage.
Anyway, I still know some police officers on personal basis that I like and respect so much: my former landlord during nysc and my uncle. Peaceful people but people always say you can't trust them finish.

(forgive my Nigerian English, I always struggle)

Why in the world can't Nigerians stand up for their rights? I was once on a car hire and the police stopped us somewhere and said the driver did not have an ID of the car company whose receipt I had. Took us to the station where after I made serious noise, I told them plainly that I was going to create MAJOR problems for them when I got back to Abuja. They conferred among themselves and released us to go without collecting farthing.

And believe me, that day I was ready for wahala. That day police knew the meaning of Fela's song: trouble dey sleep, na so inyanga go wake am. Wetin e dey find? Wahala, e dey find, wahala, e go get.
Hmmm, wish I cud give u two different scenerios u will know that u just got away, not becuz of rights or anything. These bastards are dangerous... anyway not everyone is that lucky.

Adultery is not a crime, but it can be used against you in the court of law by your wife or husband only!

Nigeria has no police. What we've are thugs, thieves and murderers in uniform!

A similar situation happened to me an a colleague of mine in Ugborikoko police station Warri. They accused us of stealing a car because of different plate number from the original owner. We ended up paying 50 thousand Naira. This is after they put a call to the first owner etc. They used gun and jail to threaten us.

Nigeria police are the worst.

Please someone should help me, how can one report this case of threat and stealing from police
Search for the number of the state's commissioner of police online and report the matter to him directly. From there, you'd be asked to come to the state's police command hq to table an official complaint and a policeman will be attached to the case to investigate it. That's what I did in my own case.

A Catholic Priest was dying in a hospital and asked the doctor to call a Police Officer & a politician .Within minutes, the two appeared. He asked them to sit on either side of the bed. The priest held their hands n kept quiet. The guys were so touched and at the same time felt very important for being summoned by a priest in his dying moment. Out of anxiety, the politician ask, 'But why did you call us? ' The priest gathered all his strength and said, 'Jesus died between two thieves.....I want to go the same way!!!!!!!!!!!

Power User. You sabi. Not all these ones on NL that will list their 10 best apps and be counting candy crush and cumdroid. Switched to AutoMate for a while, but going back to tasker this week.

PenisOfTruth:
shocked
imagine if those same police officers stopped me and went through my phone opened my browser and saw nairaland opened and this moniker opened lolz..
i die well that day
I go turn Penis of lies that day grin grin

just install tasker on your phone, have it do a simple task by 8pm daily.

if your phone is not in your home environment (by using cell locations), have it ring a particular ring tone for 10 seconds and wait for the next 1min for a predefined action that you would have programmed to stp the process.
if after waiting or 1minute it doesnt receive your set action eg lauching a sort o bailout app on ur homescreen, then it shoukd put on ur gps, grab your location and send the location via a text to someone you trust, eg a friend

police go hail that day when 4 lawyers show for their doormat lolz

note: this works best on phone with nn removable batteries that cannot be put off without unlocking
tasker is an android app that lets you mak your phone smarter,

if you need any help creating awesome stuff with the app, lemme know grin

Very possible my dear. I picked up one at about 10:45pm about three bustops to my junction beccause I thought she might be stranded and she looked like a mother and someone responsible at a glance. It however turned out different when she tried soliciting me asking such funny questions as 'where are we hurrying to, reduce the speed pls'. I got the msg and dropped her at the next b/stop. You can never be too careful bro.
