Sunofgod: I would like this to be funny but alas it is not; Jonathan is among the main reasons we find ourselves at this stop I have experienced what real recessions means in my relatively young life, with what happened in Europe around the mid- late 2000s, people lost their jobs, mortgages, families destroyed, suicide among young males sky rocketed, there was needless suspicion and 8 years after Europe is just coming out of it. Recession is not a funny matter ! |

sweetgala:So u are just realizing that recession is coming ,abi This is something the whole world was telling the dullard then but instead he chose to be travelling all over the world feeling like a conqueror ,taking selfies and photographs instead of him appointing capable hands on time ,the deaf sick president even said that he doesn't know why Nigerians are rushing him to appoint ministers and cabinet members because ministers Re just noise makers and the bastard tinubu even have the guts to tell Nigerians then that buhari deserves 3months political honeymoon. 5 Likes |

Why does Emefiele of a guy still have a job? For you to be the head of the apex bank and end up engineering stagflation, which he alluded to, shows he doesn't really have the answers. So what problem is he going to solve? Anyway, those of us who saw the handwriting on the wall, with the idiotic floating policy implemented, know what time it's. This is just the beginning - by the time the whole economy finally gets flushed down the toilet and to a stage, where it might take two decades to recover - perhaps they'll do the right thing. And where are the half-baked voodoo economists and their economic theories? When it's said and done, it won't be recession - it would be quintuple-dip recession with your mouths wide open. |

I don't know how this Adeosun woman dey think. Or is it buhari's fault? When an economy is on the verge of a recession, you don't cut spending, you don't implement monetary policies that would take money out of the hands of the masses. Look at Great Britain, Cameron and Osbourne thought austerity was the way out of a recession, look how it turned out for them and the UK. Other countries that tried the austerity playbook are: Greece, Spain, Italy. And Buhari and Adeosun thought "hey, let's join that club". When you are that close to a recession. Debt means nothing, check the top 20 countries with the highest debt. What you do is borrow to prop up the economy. It's what Obama did to bring the US From the brink. But Mr. Buhari thinks otherwise. That why when people insult him I don't care. He has made a bunch of Ill-advised decisions since comin into office. He keeps on proving he is surrounded by morons. |

Goodluck Jonathan should be on this list. If himself and his wife returns all the money they stole, I tell you; IMF's depressing forecast would be immediately upturned. |

Sunofgod: Please unless you lived within Europe at the time and experienced it first hand don't talk. Every one was affected with varying severity and complexity depending on exposures, I know several SME owners who lost their businesses, several mid- level managers who lost their good paying jobs, Higher level executives in the public sector who had to take paycuts, and emergency service workers(police, fire service, etc) The recession was no play thing or by the way issue |
Re: 7 Nigerians Who Can Upturn IMF's Depressing GDP Forecast by sweetgala(m): 11:58pm On Jul 20, 2016 |
onatisi: You just exposed yourself to be an illiterate, you probably spend your days on the street corner reading newspapers, while taking little time to ponder on the issues at hand. Nigeria was headed into a recession a long time before Buhari took office, the results of several decades of poor governance, lack of direction , severe corruption and despicable leadership. The only consequence Buhari actions or In actions has affected is the immediate severity of the recession, it's interaction with public life and the process of recovery. The only thing that could have saved us from recession was a bad IMF deal and i'm glad we did not take it, it would have put our grandchildren in penury and subjection for another lifetime |

sweetgala: Well your a mug if you ended up in Greece! If you were in the UK, France, Germany, Holland etc then as stated before - only the poorest of the poor suffered due to austerity measures. Now go away... |
Re: 7 Nigerians Who Can Upturn IMF's Depressing GDP Forecast by sweetgala(m): 12:40am On Jul 21, 2016 |
Sunofgod: Only the poor in UK ! the only mug here is you. austerity does not affect the poor you dunce but the middle class, the bulk tax contributors and those responsible for the vast amount of commercial transactions. The poor in UK etc have always been dependent on social policies and are so at the mercy of the state. The only people who went unscathed were the lucky. |
Re: 7 Nigerians Who Can Upturn IMF's Depressing GDP Forecast by adconline(m): 12:53am On Jul 21, 2016 |
Bolustic:Stop this narrative of importing more than we export. We have always had trade surpluses. In manufacturing, you have to choose where u rank in terms of comparative or absolute advantage. For example, cost of producing crude oil is 3x higher in Naija than in Saudi, so if u choose to go into petroleum production with Saudi competing for the same customers you aren't going to make it. Mauritius doesn't grow cotton, but it makes better quality and cheaper clothing than other African countries that grow cotton. Now, there is no way we can produce anything without power. A country generating 0.0MW doesn't have any business telling people to go into manufacturing. Apple manufactures all its products in China, but still maintains its largest workforce of sbout 40k in the US and it contributes over $700 to the US economy. |

The reasons for IMF predictions are these. To avoid the predictions, these must return to their status pre-dullard era 1. NDA NDA is a product of buharis useless nepotism and they are the major reason our economy is contracting as oil incomes have reduced drastically 2. TSA Buhari implementation of the TSA stifled liquidity and created a never before experienced cash flow probl3ms in the banks 3. FOREX POLICY Investors are wary of people who protect their currency with government policies. It means a very risky gamble as they might loose their investments if the are not fast enough 4. GENERAL SENSE OF UNEASE Buhari body language is driving away both good and bad investors. Even Nigerian businessman are not doing high risk high return businesses now. Everyone is buying land and building house 5. EFCC & DSS No matter how genuine ur business is, there must be some grey areas. Everyone is being careful now to avoid stories that touch. This is killing investments 6.OIL PRICE This is the only factor that is not a direct consequence of the dullard in chief Others include 7. INCOMPETENT ECONOMIC TEAM 8. Certified hard heartedness of dullard in chief 9. Security issues everywhere 10. Certificateless ab0kis everywhere heading industries they don't know jack about For those blaming corruption please continue. I hope you can buy food with excuses because thats is what ur god is paying you with |
