Hi y'all I've been reading the bimmer posts on here for a while. I'm Ghanaian but an ardent lover of Bavarian machines and that's why I joined this forum. I drive an E90 325i.

We will be starting racing in Nigeria soon (January 2017) to be precise with track construction expected to start next month. The car of choice for the race series is the 1986 - 1989 BMW e30. They say it only comes in manual gear and that is exactly what we want. We looking to buy a few. If you got any in good condition, please email admin@roadxnigeria.com

Greetings to everyone on here. If i came across this forum some 3 years ago, i would have been a whole lot happier but then as it is said; "better late than never".
Then again i doubt if i could find a place here, having gone through every post of every prestigious bimmer and the fantastic machine owned, i shudder to mention my old school 535i E34 that is wasting away because of dearth of specialists. Like the biblical woman with the issue of blood, i have suffered many things in the hands of different physician(mechanic) but still keeping hope alive that i will find help someday.
I live around Ikotun in Lagos state and i seriously need a mechanic that could look at the car for me. presently it cannot move.
PLEASE SAVE MY BM. Thanking you all in advance for every assistance as i look forward to quick intervention.

Hello to you all.
I aspire to join the league of extraordinary BMW owners soon. I am currently looking at 2 nigerian used e90s in abuja. One is an e90 325i,used by a lady with about 198000kms on the odometer, but it drives smoothly and quickly reached 200km/h during test drive! It has goos service history. The lady is selling because she is leaving the country.
The other is a 330i although i have not test driven it,the owner said its a new engine on the car, that got me worried sha.
Both cars are going for 1m.
Your inputs will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Just buy the one that's running fine. Changed engine is suspect but may not all together a bad thing.

Bros. Buy the one running fine. There is no assurance the engine the 330i was replaced with is actually a 3.0L. A lot of shenanigans going on in Ladipo. In fact I can almost assure you it's not a 3.0L engine.
2ndly, you don't want BMW trouble, an engine change does not mean the car is free from trouble. In fact it's a determinant that more problems could pop up in future.

any Naija BMW mechanic worth his salt can repair a E34. it's the newer ones that confuses them. Go to Ladipo, BMW mechanics abound there. or send me a PM.

Hi,
I need help. I drive a BMW 525i 2004 model and it sometimes gives me transmission error. When it happens, the car fails to engage reverse gear. However when I turn the engine off and restart it, the error disappears and the reverse gear starts to work.

Requesting if you could advice what could be the issue.

A lot could be wrong. But first thing I would ask is to carry out a comprehensive scan on the powertrain. This would tell us what is actually going on. It could be the DSC is sending a malfunction signal to the transmission. If you need a solution call multiautolab on 08156087872 or 08165520837

BMW E60 transmission comes with 'lifetime' ATF which means you are not meant to change it in the car's lifetime. However, what BMW refers to as lifetime is actually 100000 km. the transmission have been known to fail at 100000 km due to people believing in that lifetime rubbish.

You might just be due for an ATF change (after a scan of course) . Kindly look for a capable Kazeem as that your transmission is more expensive than your M54 engine..

Hello House,

I am thinking of getting the BMW 2004/2005 5 - Series as my first car.

How is it maintenance wise and also the cost of the spare parts.
Is it good for lagos roads.

Advice needed

I won't advise you to buy a BMW as a 1st car. BMWS are for experienced owners. that's my personal opinion.
