Costee: Believe it or not, auto transmission professionals don't work with factory service manuals. Reason? They are full of confusions and junk! It is not surprising they dont contain clutch app charts, which is critical in diagnosis. They will list everything that has something to do with the transmission as suspect. Before diagnosing an auto transmission , you need clutch chart, solenoid firing order, pressure port locations and spec, and code interpretations. The fsm may list whatever but the better approach is determining what is not a cause. If three components share the same power and one is malfunctioning, common sense should tell you it's not power. Same principle applies here. Forward is good so, it CANNOT be TC or pump or CAN etc. That's my point. Osama10: Now that's a new dimension - reverse good when cold. I will have to think. My bay is under construction |
Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by Nobody: 9:51am On Jul 10, 2016 |
Kashif:Well yes, professionals (not only auto) who have a solid mastery of their subject matter will often proceed without reference to the literature. It is certainly debatable whether at that point the relevant literature must be considered as "junk." I'm no auto technician of course, and it's sometimes beneficial when some of us use our amateurish sense (with exasperation ) to task the proficiency of people like you. Now that Osama10 has crept in a new dimension (the reason I earlier advised him to watch for definitive symptoms), it's nice that you feel that diagnosis may be modified (that's my reading of your offer to ponder over it). The issue is certainly beyond my realm now, but I'd certainly be glad to share your ideas in the developing story--even if at the end of the day Osama10's transmission must be raptured |

Costee: Have scan it and here is what the scanner detected: A/T 1st GR Function CAN Comm Circuit - Transmission - Shift Solenoid He said i should change to dexron 3 atf and check the CAN wiring or take the car to gear specialist. What do you suggest i am based in ibadan. |

Kashif: c1729 B1129 B1145 Thats he wrote he told me he cleared the codes and dey never showed up after rescanning but that of A/T 1st Gr function and CAN Comm circuit he didn't write the codes Only told me the scanner came up with results. |
Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by Nobody: 7:33pm On Jul 11, 2016 |
lakefist:Not good enough. I'm afraid you'd have to try some place else. What atf did you use originally? |
Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by lakefist(m): 9:02pm On Jul 11, 2016 |
Costee: I don't know the name but its in a 5litter can and named "ATF" type A made in U.A.E. That was what the mechanic recommended and it was better till date. Though i only wanted to use it for one month before changing to proper ATF but not until i see a professional gear specialist. |
Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by Kashif(m): 9:03pm On Jul 11, 2016 |
lakefist: Those are not transmission codes. First is chassis, second two are body. There may or may not be any transmission codes, but be sure the scanner can read transmission codes. |
Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by Nobody: 9:40pm On Jul 11, 2016 |
lakefist:...while it poisoned the transmission slowly. The recommended atf is Nissan's Matic D. Oando's Dexron III might be good too. As Kashif observed, there might be or not transmission codes. Your "A/T 1st Gr" is probably P0731. If you feel like experimenting with a salvaging mission, you could try draining/refilling the transmission thrice with the proper atf. The ultimate option seems to be another gear box. |
Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by lakefist(m): 10:29pm On Jul 11, 2016 |
Costee: I really appreciate your reply and recommendation. I love to get the nissan Matic D but its not available in ibadan and that's where the problem lies. I will look for Oando Dexron III tomorrow. Last would you advise i get manual gear box instead of auto should incase i resort to full replacement gear? |
Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by Nobody: 10:56pm On Jul 11, 2016 |
lakefist:Stick to auto and this forum, you'll be properly guided. Should you opt for the drain/refill, let's know before you go about it. |
Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by lakefist(m): 12:39am On Jul 12, 2016 |
I will be going for the drain tomorrow God willing. Not all thread are active here sometimes people you think will give you answer will just ignore even after mentioning their names. This is the best thread on car section. God bless! |

Hi folks. I just acquired a used 97 Maxima. It's my first car ever and seem to be in good shape, at least from what the mechanic told me. So now I need to learn things on my own. He mentioned changing of oil / transmission fluid. So please what's the recommended oil I should get to start with. Am here to learn. Thanks. |

Before the temp jumps vey high under 5 min of driving but after disconnecting and conecting the batery, the temprature rise is gradual.. Attains a high temperatue rise after about 45 mins of driving. The car doesnt overheat while idle and even with the Ac on... Plese how do i reolve this overheating isue .. Whats the implication of this P1721 error code as per this overheating in my infiniti fx35 2005 model |

Igbudu23:You may proceed by flushing your radiator and checking the thermostat for malfunction. As for the error code check your revolution sensor connections. You might have to replace the sensor if the connections are good. Do you experience erratic shifts? 1 Like |

nissparts: How are you so sure sir? I just read on 3 Nissan forum where Nissan altima users who had the same issue said they applied LUBE into the U joint and it was resolved... Even tho they were also told to change pump and rack... But after applying the LUBE, the problem was fixed... I think I will try this first |

Hi Niss part, Last week I saw check engine soon on my Nissan 2008-2009, I went today to run diagnostic test at Jethro Auto Abj and found this code. P.code: 0442 Evaporative Emission leak detected (small leak). 0455 Evaporative Emission system leak detected (large leak). There service description said "Servicing of injector system. Are they correct or just want o get 16k from me. Your response will be appreciated |

Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by kingreign(m): 10:40am On Jul 25, 2016 |
watino: Evap emission leak.. Answer these questions, Have you replaced fuel pump or opened the ASSY before? Do you over fill your tank to the brim? Do you use injector cleaner liquids and/or octane boosters? Do you use a fuel tank cap that's not suitable for your vehicle? |
Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by nissparts(m): 10:40am On Jul 25, 2016 |
watino: Hi, none of those codes have anything to do with injector servicing. What Nissan model is this? You can easily google the code with your exact vehicle for likely fixes. One common reason for the code is a bad fuel cap. If it's a Pathfinder/Xterra, then check the fuel cannister at the rear of the vehicle |
Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by watino: 12:06pm On Jul 25, 2016 |
Nissan Altima 2.5l I have not changed anything in this car yet , just came back here they are washing my car now and it has been fixed already according to them. I googled about the code few days ago and found it is related to Evaluate canister but was shocked when they said it's injector servicing |
Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by kingreign(m): 9:40pm On Jul 25, 2016 |

Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by HazzanTazzan(m): 6:43pm On Jul 26, 2016 |
nissparts: They don't seem to know what the U joint means here... But this new guy insisted that this has nothing to do with steering rack... He said its highly possible that the steering pump I was given was not working perfectly. He said its hard to get a good and perfect pump here in Abeokuta and we will have to go to Lagos together and they will fix different ones for us till we get the one that works perfectly... Still working on a date to fix with him and hit lagos |
