The REASON is the answer. For men, it's mostly for the cleanliness but for women, it's to remove sexual pleasure. See the difference? You can start a movement against make genial mutilation tho.

2.) The sunnah restricts women to some jobs of which nursing is one of them.

Its a common misconception.... Both are for the same reason because an unmutilated man as a higher sexual hurge and experience than the mutilated.

Do you work in the healthcare profession? Because I do. FGM And male circumcision do not have the same dangers and risks for adverse reactions. In males it is a skin flap that is removed though painful because there are nerve endings there. Previously done in the past for religious and hygienic purposes.

I live in north America and the majority of health professionals do not support male circumcision unless it is done for a religious purpose as is outlined in the Bible, Koran and Torah. There is no passage that supports FGM that I know of and is very harmful to the female.

It's not the same procedure for both genders like you think. And most men become circumcised as infanys, though in south Africa it's a rite of passage that traditionally occurs at the onset of puberty.

In regards to your stance on tradition, once an act no longer serves the people or positively advances them it must be done away with. Traditions and cultures is cultivated by people and can be done away with as well.

I believe it should be the choice of the individual of they want to be circumcised. They should wait until the child is of age to decide, more specific to males.

I'm sure the west will be cool with it if it was a jewish practice.... same way it is done at infancy for men is the same way it's done at infancy too for some girls... All I'm saying is that enough of the double standard, if you condemn female circumcision, condemn male circumcision as well. Rather than criminalise it, you could work towards setting and improving the standards to reduce associated risk, which funny enough exists in the two practices

The reason female genital mutilation is discouraged is because of its adverse effect on the health of circumsize women. Its leads to difficulty during sex, pregnancy and childbirth and it can even make a woman sterile. I'm sure if male circumsision alsobhave effect on men sexual life or virility it will be discouraged too. But since male circumsision have no effect on men health its encouraged. Infact male circumsision is actually beneficial.

Female genital mutilation should be discouraged. We shouldn't put our future astake.

Oga, i have gone through most of your comments. You seem to be hell bent on circumcising the female child.

I don't think there is any need for further argument, you can see the disadvantages listed above and how it outweighs the advantages.

Religion supports the circumcision of male children but it's silent on the issue of the female child. You can check the Bible and Quran. The practice is ideal for males and it also has medical benefits.

And what you do not know is that most married men whose wife were circumcised never enjoy their wives. Because she always lacks interest in the act and turns her husband down each time. Therefore forcing the man to look for alternatives outside.

We are all aware of the number of broken marriages the issue of sex has caused.

Really? Maybe yours wasn't grossly done. It depends on the person who does it. Some will still leave some sensitive areas (i guess this is your case) while Some will cut off everything completely. And the area will become numb.

Such a woman can never enjoy sex infact the act will be painful, and she won't always allow her husband.

female circumcision has existed even before the white men dreamt of making voyage to Africa, so it's not about white men, and I would prefer my husband marry another wife than to be fvcking another man, white people are loosing their morality and sanity that I have to take a second and triple look at anything they say,so as far as this matter is concerned I was circumcised as a baby and I can comment on its effects from experience, instead of mere speculation and hear say from people like you, since you were not circumcised, all your points are mere speculation

Oyimbo dey mess up their brain,they have forgotten there is no surgery that is 100%scarfree,after I told them about mine and not wanting my two girls go thru it,I then asked what's the danger involved if it's not the the one that trigger some hormones to make you intolerant to sugar thereby causing policystic ovaries,diabetes, she said no,they dnt cause all that except infection,then why telling people to stop it if it does not cause those Mentioned, because the clitoris asbwe have been lied to that it's cut off totally is a lie,the clitoris extends to inside the vigina the tinybit cut Is just the start and a woman can still enjoy sex well because clitoris extends inside in viginal,and I do enjoy marital sex and I suffer no pain afterwards except the minor pain when cut,which anyone can,no surgery in this world without pain of whatsoever.
