Hey guys, please with respect to the Oanda rate, does the VO use the selling rate or buying rate to calculate our statement? Please help with this.
cc: OlowoB, justwise,

You know to be honest, i have never thought of this before sha, well i am not too sure but when i used mine sometimes back, i used selling rate grin. I never even bothered to notice the difference back then. I just used what i saw on the site. Never bothered looking below to see other rates grin

Looking back now, i think i should have used the buying rate (i could be wrong though).

I would like to hear what others used when they did their own tier 4 Visa too years back

Hello OP,

I want to apply for a tier 4 visa for my bachelors degree by End of August, then fast track it so it can come out before school resumes. Last year, when I wanted to apply, there were some things that weren't written in the gov.uk site such as taking passports or filling a handwritten visa form. Please, if it's possible, can you tell me how I go about the entire process now? If you have answered a similar question before, please just copy and paste your response. It would be very much appreciated.

There has to be an economic crisis fr it to crash that low thats what happened during brexit thats why i was asking if i could apply today cos even if it would drop it wouldnt drop at most by 10 Naira so every day counts

Since you put money in on July 1, it starts counting from that day regardless on what time you put it in. Unless the money in your bank statement doesn't show as July 1 so needs checking

It's a tricky one really. I honestly don't know. When I applied for my Tier 4 though, I just used that day's rate (which happens to be equivalent to the selling rate) to convert to pounds and entered the details in the form.

If you think of it this way, you are basically selling your Naira to buy Pounds (tuition fees, accommodation).

Do not panic, you still have time on your side and the rates could still drop.

Oanda actually makes it easier for you with the title of the fields. Currency I have (NGN) and Currency I want (GBP)
That should clear things up

As in the normal rate and not the buying selling whatever. Am I right? Just like spikesc stated. Is that it?

That's our earnest prayer that the rates change cos from the look of things, the CBN isn't ready to push it forex into the market. The way the exchange rate is rising eeehhhh, make e no rise like lazarus oooo.

If you mean you have been able to pay to your school, i think you should state how you did the bolded, It will help other students on this forum.

As for your question above, let people also suggest the method they use.

Let me also state that students who are currently processing their visas should share all information on here to keep the thread alive and also to keep people aware of the latest happenings. Majority of the contributors are using past experience. So a fresh information will be necessary from you peeps directly involved, most especially in this season of fluctuating exchange rates.

cheers.

My 28days is complete now and the pound has risen up to 410 which makes me about N3000 short do i go ahead and apply today or whats the next step becos theres no guarantee it will drop or add money and strt counting all over again?? Suggestions pls
Do i also hv to print my statement before making the online application or after or it doesnt matter either way
Thanks
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by Bourne007(m): 10:37am On Jul 29, 2016
I will probably suggest you find a way to add money to your tuition fee so CAS will be updated and you wouldn't be N3000 short. 'Date of Application' is the date to convert the currency.

i am being tempted to start using debit cards that why?

is patner on nairaland or you mean your partner as in girlfriend, fiancee or wife?

and we can go together why not?

but me I will most likely go with the cheapest flight i can find o (no money)

Hmmm, didn't realise that's been paid in full. Not sure what to suggest really as the rate can't be predicted. Unless you want to see how things go in the next few days. Are you using the Uni's accommodation?
