I remembered when my Dad normally buys phone for my mum.... This was some years back and whenever he bought the phone for her.. it does not last.. either it gets spoilt or broken... Do you know why.. because the younger ones in the house always sneak to use her phone whenever she is charging it or sleeping... and they could misuse the phone...

I bought her a new phone last year, she damaged it after two months. Her sister bought a new phone for her this year, she also damaged that one too within three months . Hmmmm...Interesting though. from experience, i have learnt that people could change a habit in an instant. from a non-desirable to a desirable one and all they need is someone that is patient and genuine enough to help them through. complaining and calling the person names won't help. it will just put them in a state of defense. Seeking help from an experienced pro counselor might help, even though they are rare. i recommend empathizing with the person, taking a step by step system to make them understand the results of learning a better habit to improve the way they take care of gifts and other possessions while you dedicate and put efforts in research for possible solutions.
