msogunro: Boreholes are worthy investment in the long run, Funny how Prices differ based on geographical location. While some of my folks in the southsouth drilled their's between 80k to 150K or there about, I was told how lucky I am to have a Borehole drilled @ 1m in the East. What are you going to do... |

msogunro: Everything included. My site is a rocky terrain. I was ready to do it at 800k if there was guarantee. All borholes in the neighborhood didn't last. Some boreholes were started and abandoned at 280-330ft without water. I did two different surveys. One came out with low water and second came out with no water. The low water guy advised we do 2-3 wells. I took his advice and ran. I later got another company now promising to give me what I want but they cost at least 1.5M. Their package includes survey and drilling. This is another company I recently spoke to and intend to give them a call to do survey as well. http://bitmaster-ng.com/projects/project-1/ |

[quote author=msogunro post=48043131] Jesu!!! The geological survey recommends drilling 90 meters. That's very deep I will be more concerned with the quantity of water envisaged The report will show the no of cracks in the hole If I'm drilling about 100m and there's only two cracks then it might even be a dry one I will advise you get a second survey opinion because survey gets pampered a lot Also get someone to ask around of existing borehole nearby or even well (kanga) to know the ground water history in that domain Meanwhile pls try and be there while drilling the hole to avoid stories that touch 1 Like |

Maybe they realised all the "fire-&-brimstone" we spit is just to keep the engine running and nothing personal or deeper than the skin. Sir, in an environment where borehole doesn't work good, it's better to dig a well which sometimes you must service the well often by packing the fall off sands and in such environment, submersible pump is the best to used because the surface pump will keep developing faults. I knew of a location where the owners were warned not to dig borehole but the borehole guy was promising the owner of a good result (Sheybi Na to collect money for him own pocket then comot), the borehole was done and it has low pressure when pumping right from the day it was dug, funny enough the owner didn't know that it was the water that was used in digging the borehole was what the guy pumped out, it takes them 12hrs to pump half of a tank despite the area lacks power supply too(generator was been used to pump) it got to extent the pump got stucked as well. He only has water in his borehole when it rains heavily, I mean heavily and all he gets is dirty water... There are lots of information one needs to know before buying a land FastShipping: |

I thought sinking borehole is as simple as ABC once money dey ground. I dare anyone who has successfully done a borehole (industrial or domestic) on hilly terrain to showcase their job here and the cost. And possible help the needy here. If you miss 90m once, I'm sure no one will tell you don't try it again. And maybe my 30% mobilization and balance on completion will work. Baba msogunro, do you mind sharing the report. I wan see the weight of the overburden. Happy Sunday! 2 Likes |

adeekiti: I have never done or seen survey result for water boreholes so my comment is based on theory. I think it would be better if one gets the survey data from neighbouring sites with successful boreholes and try to correlate with ones own site survey data. The more the data, the more accurate the result. The aim would be to try to map the aquifer and confirm same is available on ones subsurface. If like O&G surveys they provide type and depth of formation through either gravity/magnetic/seismic reflected anomalies, then correlation should be easy. Just to confirm that ones target formation is actually the same aquifer that the neighbouring borehole was drilled to . |

This BoreHole matter is thick, I cant believe this is what we take for granted in my end, in my Mum's town it took them less than an Hours work to hit clean water.God is great indeed 1 Like |

FastShipping: +1 _____ The Ile Oluji project ended up with a well after putting some thousands of naira into sinking borehole. _____ Another project (personal) in Odogbo area of Ojoo, Ibadan ended up with a well after trying all recommendations from neighbours and recommended help. _____ Ilugun MultiDwell Flats ended up with a well after survey recommended 108m with low-yield. Ilugun, Odogbo, Ibadan and Oke-Igbo, Ondo formation are pretty similar to Abeokuta Ogun state. Most surveys still rely on un-updated datas in the ministry of water resources. Some risk are really not worth taking though. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Yes my oga, Gathering details of boreholes done in the neighbourhood will as well give good informations about ones own... informations gathered about that environment is that, their land has a lot of cement beneath and the level of the cement beneath their land is not far from the top of the land surface, they only drilled for just few hours and stopped..A home without good water supply is not complete as water is very important. 44chux: |

Hmm FG. Sir, As for pumping machine, i think there are different capacity of pumps 1/2hp, 1hp etc but I think they are all use for different depth of borehole If I'm not wrong BrabusNG: |

The most difficult place I have done a borehole is Enugu. I have also done more than 50 wells in Enugu state. Then the borehole we did in Imo State last year was very challenging and costly. I am sure it went more than 80 meters and we janmed so many stones that was drilled through with special equipment. I will show pictures of those jobs when I can. @ lastpage, welcome back, I enjoy reading your colorful posts 1 Like |

adeekiti: When I was working in a big company, we used to import submersible pumps of very high capacities, some as long at 3 meters long. The water source there is below 200 meters. Usually took more than 3 months to sink each borehole. 1 Like |

That's why most borehole driller that charges 150k for drilling will give you excuses like if we try to pass this depth, the water will be contaminated instead of them to explain that the stones need to be blasted to continue the drilling, in situations where they reach a rock beneath, they need machine to blast and continue the drilling which I think cost a lot like 1milli or more. well done sir . spyder880: 1 Like |

This borehole in Enugu was tough, more than N600k spent before we got good water. 1 Share

FastShipping: Thank you very much for saying this. This is my first build and I don't know anything about boreholes. It never crossed my mind that after drilling 90 meters there is a possibility that they may not reach potable water. The borehole is on hold until I after I complete the fence so I will discuss the guarantee when the time comes. 1 Like |
