As a platform, i think it requires additional testing. Aesthetically, it looks great and a 30mm would be more than adequate (I know what you said in your reply).


However, I'll stick with the Mbombe 6 (thanks), seems like a more reliable system at this point.

Yes, it doesn't set the world alight interms of it's design or armament, but it's an off-road vehicle that works. It's basically an MRAP on 6 wheels which can be fitted with a 30mm/ ATGM or 12.7mm RWS.

Unit price - $1,000,000, it has a decent price range, this was what was sold to Jordan and it includes local assembly (Jobs). The South-Africans are very good in building MRAPs and general land systems the Mbombe 4 is yet another example of that. Excellent off-road capabilities, and in the future ceramic armour or Dyneema which Proforce Nigeria has been experimenting with could be added to improve crew protection.


The vehicle would suffer in the south of Nigeria, for the south, we would require tracked vehicles, however for the Central and Northern regions i don't see what can stop it.


Fire power, it carries a 30 mm RWS, there's also the ATGM variant and the 12.7mm variant. However there are multiple choices of combined RWS available in the market we could go for. The Slovenians just launched a beautiful system.


Local assembly prospects, Jordan is buying only 50 units and it includes a local manufacturing agreement, the Mbombe 4 is also manufactured in Kazhkztan. So the manufacturer would be willing to build right here in Nigeria.

According to your old order of battle you have 6 mechanised battalions. If half get the MBOMBE, thats 708 units that will be needed, minimum.

BMP-3's performance in Yemen has been p1ss-poor. Paper thin armor, and troops have to exit by crouching, climbing over the engine and off the roof - exposing themselves to fire and slowing them down.

I also thought about the Otokar Tulpar but I'm a bit skeptical about Turkish engineering plus that country is a little bit unpredictable.

most trukish equipment has US NATO technology,off course not the latest one,I would rather choose german made second hand equipment if possible,as Singapore did so.

let me advice u from my experience
get the vehicle from the continent (Africa) itself .
u will get a optimized version which is already built to work flawlessly in the hot dry and trying conditions of Africa.
it is a headache to get a system from colder countries and keep banging ur head when the engines , lubrication system , electronics break down under intense heat and dust.
ask me i have faced it .
diagnosing and location of the fault due to heat and dust is another headache , takes lots of time and money.

get the sub systems from other sources like non hull penetrating RCWS which will require almost zero re-engineering of the carrier vehicle.
armouring can be done depending on requirements be it field requirements or base requirements
rest is self explanatory.

The NN used to be well ahead, but for sometime now, they have become invisible like we are "seeing a ghost movie". They need to up their game.


We need those JF-17s since like yesterday, and if we can get Tucanos to replace those Alpha jets, that would simply go along way in improving general effectiveness of air operations.

The C-17 is for long haul flights only. So a Jet engine for it is very desirable. The C-17 and C-5 both have jet engines, and both are designed primarily for long haul flights.

For Tracked vehicles, i can't say, i watched "Tank vs Terrorist" which Patches689 shared last year and i hold a lot of admiration for the vehicle. It's an excellent amphibious vehicle, with heavy firepower.


Tuplar from Turkey like you've highlighted is another good one, however it is a new, untested platform. It is a very nice vehicle though.

Nigerian ORBAT has changed over the years. I can also assure you that the Nigerian army as presently constituted would not order 708 IFVs. Those Civil war posturing is over.


We won't see that, a maximum 300 vehicles is more a realistic posture.
