That last change by Coach Siasia was bad. He should watch such changes. That is the worst time to pull out a defensive midfielder for a central midfielder.

He should have kept Mikel deep, close to shield the defence.

Congrats Boys. After a Frustrating day, you Broke into the next morning with Joy.

Heroes. Jet Lag plus The Brazilian Heat.

Popoola plays DM too.

Yes, Amuzie lost possession needlessly and Japan scored.
he was holding his arm feigning injury. Lost concentration and the ball wasn't even in the defence line when the goal was scored. Let me catch him in super eagles 1st. Abeg who de borrow plank for here? I ge need for am.

Yes. That is the spirit. Nigerians do well even under the most unfavorable conditions.

Congratulations Nigeria.

I hope those Flying Eagles boys who let themselves down would learn from this. cc: TheGoodJoe.

In the final mins of the game we lost all attacking initiative. The last change would have been ajayi for sadiq. It was visible to the blind that sadiq was finished. Kudos to the boys. Up 9ja

SINCERE SETH was at fault for 3 goals.. I don't know who gave siasia the idea to play him at CB.

We should have tried to get some experience into the defence.

That team is lacking in the CB position. Ekong tried but Sincere Seth struggled.
Why did Siasia drop Wilfred Ndidi sef? sad
Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by tbaba1234: 4:08am On Aug 05, 2016
I am sorry but we played with only one defender today. That was Ekong.

Shehu was too flat footed for Japan's 3rd... He should have given himself a chance to block the runner.

Amuzie, i still don't know why Siasia likes him so much.

Commenting on the airlifting, Delta Airlines spokesman Anthony Black “This is a special occasion, not only because it’s the Olympics, but also, exactly 20 years ago, on this day, the Nigerian football team needed a miracle to beat Argentina to win the gold medal in Atlanta at the Olympics. Today, we are happy to help them with another miracle.”

We should never forget what Delta Airlines did for these guys. That was special and brotherly. Increased my love for America and the City Atlanta. They did not forget.

Haven watched a total of about 4 matches since last night. I think our boys will go far.

Siasia needs to work on Amuzie and Sincere Seth. There inexperience is very obvious as they are even the two youngest in that back four and were largely involved in most of the goals. Shehu and Ekong who are already full Super Eagles players showed more maturity.

Our midfield didn't do too badly as most of our goals came from pressures from our midfielders on the Japs.

Etebo exceeded expectations. 4 goals in one game. His winning the Africa's promising young player award is no fluke. A player that scored in his debute for the Super Eagles and highest goals scorer at the CAF U23. That guy is another Amokachi in the making. He may not go back to his Portuguese second division club.

Sadiq Umar had a wow performance. He may look unstable with the ball but those his long legs work magic. He so destabilized the Japanese defense and he always looked like a player that would win a penalty any time and he did.

Mikel. The game seemed to be too pacey for him but he still managed to make his impact. It shows he has really blended with the team. I am not surprised he was given a more attacking midfield role.

Azubuike is a jerky. Workaholic of a player but he still has to do more in shielding the backline.

Imoh Ezekiel was fantastic especially in the first half. That is what u get when u play a striker as a winger. O... defenders find it difficult coping with their pace. His initial shot from which Sadiq tapped in for the first goal says it all.

Usman Muhammed though not too visible (typical of his play) Did very well in the midfield in foiling the attack of the Japanese and initiating attacks. See his 1-2 combination with Mikel at the edge of the box of which Mikel did nt hit target. His combination with Azubuike was also solid until the later moments of the game before he was substituted.

Emmanuel Daniel. Siasia what happened to Daniel Akpeyi na?

The boys really suffered from jet lag. There reaction time each time the Japans re-took the pass after conceding each of the first two goal is a reflection of that. Same thing happened again as the third goal came after a substitution.

Each time the game pauses it takes them a little longer time to get back into the frame of things.

I believe we would have won that game by 5-0 or 5-1. Our boys were that good.

Siasia need to sort out that defense before our next game.

At least the boys would now go back to their hotel rooms and rest very well.

God Bless Nigeria.

Good analysis.

Feirense got promoted last season so Etebo will play in the Portuguese top flight.

If they can sort out their defence, they will go far.

What a match, the two teams scored their highest goals in their respective history of Olympic.

Good to know. But bros if Etebo repeats even half of what he did today in our next match he fit no return Feirense o.

Dream Team Edge Past Japan In Nine Goal Thriller

Nigeria’s Dream Team against all odds defeated their Japanese counterparts in a nine goal thriller in the second match of Group B at the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament Rio 2016

AS Roma teenager Sadiq Umar opened the scoring after Imoh Ezekiel had his shot saved following some superb dribbling on the right wing. Umar was right there to tap in the second chance after Japan goalkeeper Masatoshi Kushibiki spilled read more http://www.soccerassembly.com/dream-team-edge-past-japan-in-nine-goal-thriller/

I hope i'm not the only one who woke up to this shamelessness this morning

The nerve of that man! Releasing an idiotic speech about being proud of a team you washed your hands off of more or less. These are the kind of people Sango and Amadioha are supposed to be striking even in their graves!

The shamelessness of this release is a slap on the face of every right thinking Nigerian. The only people that should be celebrating the U23 are DELTA Airlines and the USA, in fact, we shpuld even link up the Nigerian U23 to the US Olympic Team and if they win a medal, it should be listed under Team USA's medals.

Both Dalung and the daft monkey that gave him the position of Sports Minister should go and die

[b]Player Ratings.. Nigeria 5-4 Japan: Sadiq Umar Dazzles, Four Goals Man Etebo Man Of The Match

The Nigeria U-23s started their campaign at the Rio 2016 Olympics by edging a 9 goal thriller 5-4, to move to the top of their group despite arriving Rio, few minutes to the game.

Owngoalnigeria.com, brings to you ratings based on how the players fared, done by our expert in match analysis.

Emmanuel Daniel: Made some decent saves but conceded four times, although can be excused for at least two of the goals including the penalty, Still not a good thing for a goalkepper to pick the ball out of his net four times….5/10

Seth Muenfuh: A full back playing as a central defender and as expected looked lost in the role, came up strong in the second half but still lacked the discipline of a centre back….5.5/10

Shehu Abdullahi: Won more tackles than any defender in green for Nigeria but still wasn’t adventurous enough, was also caught out of position couple of times in the game with one of such occasion leading to a goal for the Japanese….5/10

Stanley Amuzie: Struggled to cope with the pace of the Japanese on the right, gave away the penalty from which Japan leveled scores to 1-1, a very poor showing from the highly rated left back….4/10

William Troost Ekong: Failed to control the backline despite been the only central defender in the defender, twice lost his man which lead to goals for the Japanese, shoulld have done better….5/10

John Obi Mikel: Captain of the team, came close to scoring with a left foot effort, kept it simple with neat touches, tired out before the end of the game, obviously struggled from jet lag, no thanks to their late arrival….5.5/10

Azubuike Okechukwu: Full of Energy and quick to turn defence into attack, put in a tireless shift all night long, unlucky not to be on the score sheet….6.5/10

Usman Mohammed: By his standard had an average showing, the former FC Taraba man didn’t do enough defensive job and was guilty of venturing far into the opponent box, which gave Japan enough space to exploit….5.5/10

Imoh Ezekiel: What a performance, strong, good on the ball and can also hit it very well when presented with a chance, his spilled effort was tapped in by Sadiq Umar for Nigeria’s first…..6.5/10

Ogenekaro Etebo: Four goals, which include a penalty says it all, truly a delight on the night, by far the best player on the pitch for both sides, should get a 10/10 but for greed sake, we keeping one for ourselves….9/10

Sadiq Umar: “New Kanu” , although he loves it when he is called “Jololo” , scored and created two goals, hold up play about the best Nigeria has seen in a player in a while, the AS Roma start is surely a star in the making….8/10

Substitutes:

Kingsley Madu: First substitute introduced for Usman Mohammed to help shore up the Nigeria backline with scores at 5-3, but was no where close when Japan got their fourth goal of the game….4/10

Ndifreke Udoh: Replaced Ezekiel but didn’t do enough to justify his inclusion, although he did some defending for the team….4/10

Sadiq Popoola: Came in for Mikel Obi and the petit midfielder who provokes comparism with French midfielder Mathieu Valuebuena, helped in keeping possession for Nigeria with some neat and deft touches….5/10

I hope our journalist team up to expose his wickedness. These guys suffered.

Dalung should not let such a thing repeat itself. There was chance to bail the Team Nigeria of the Olympics but I do not know what got into his head.

When the Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun bailed States last month, Dalung should have applied to her for support.

Leaving the National teams stranded was bad. Pinnick, reduce your ego. Learn to deal with Dalung's pride.
