While this is not the same concept but we can see the departure from the same old same old system mostly currently in use in naija?

Envelopes are there to be pushed.

supplier shouldn't supply fake and expect the electrician to filter it out. What happens when the purchased items are meant for DIY projects?
The expectations of someone who hires (what is supposed to be) a professional is what counts, not that of a supplier.

Those are really lofty suggestions. But you and i know they're easier made than implemented.

Lol, oh that.
first off i don't recall joining issues with you about your choice, cos that's what it boils down to...a choice. We simply discussed standards.
Nevertheless, this is a far cry from yours, you can see from the labelling that sockets (power) and lighting points are grouped .... based on location , which is what obtains here and abroad and not one MCB per socket. or per lighting point.
The only uncommon thing about the setup is the use of a dedicated RCB for every circuit.( A circuit meaning whatever number of power points or lighting point that are grouped together)

When I was doing the immigration paperwork for my wife, I came upon an interview with the then US Ambassador to Nigeria.

He credited the culture, warm friendly people, blah blah blah

But he also said him and his staff treat 100% of the paperwork submitted as fraud, fake or created to satisfy a neforious purpose.

It is that same ideology that I use in dealing with most artisans on my site.

No one has told me ever that they don't now how to do something.

400VAC is the phase to phase voltage when the neutral is disconnected.
It didn't change the supply is still 220/240

Across the three phases.
There are some equipments that use three.phase and an earth connection with no neutral

There's no automation involved in extending three wires from the switch at a generator to another switch at a more convenient location.

It should cost less than N1,000 in wires and switch for a prudent run.

Most tenant generators in Nigeria are pull to start and for you to extend any wire you need to first convert pull to start to electric start. Trust Nigeria, to convert to electric is more expensive than the genset. Far from the less than N1000 prudent run you advocate.

I'm almost ashamed that you're asking these questions.

It's 2016 Bro, try to cuddle technology.

It's not about me. It's about the tenant. The average tenant I service will not start their generator with remote control.

So, it's no longer automation but it's now pull versus ignition start.

Isolright cheesy

Madam GabbyTabby stated that she's not going to get up to shut off the gen.

Shutting of the gen doesn't require electric start.

I refuse to explain the very simple method to shut a running gen down electronically.

Google is your friend.

No one is asking you to start a gen from afar if your gen doesn't have electric start.

You can shut off any runnning internal combustion engine easily remotely.

How many houses in Nigeria have this setup that you've seen before?

This would be automation.

1) No electricity
2) Oga car is arriving
3) isolate nepa incoming voltage
4) start generator
5) energize voltage to house

..............

6) Madam is also detected to be arriving
7) madam has set a minimum temp of 70 degrees when she's home in the afternoon
cool close windows and doors
9) pull drapes
10) turn on AC and set to 70
11) when front door opens and ogas iPhone comes into main lobby then cue "oriki ijebu"

That is automation, it's not remotely turning on and off a gen grin

Urgent advise needed!

I'm posting this question here because I know there are a lot of you in the same situation with me, please pardon me if I've offended anyone with this....

I'm about to submit my quit letter to my manager on Monday to relocate to Nigeria next month. I noticed a thread on the front page that says $1 = N400. I lived in Calgary, AB. Y'all know oil & gas have turned this city into something else these days, it's like its no better than naija here, the only difference is stable electricity and rule of laws.

What should I do? I'm totally confused!

Thanks.

I think that this is a joke but in case it's not then I beg you to not act rashly.

Egressing to naija requires critical planning.

I'm not saying don't go home but do it as part of a strategic plan.

Who wants to go back to Nigeria in this present harsh economy? shocked

My friend in ordinary Gabon there changed his mind when the speed of dollar to naira is unquestionable. His aim was to go back to nigeria February this year to start live stock and transportation business. I adviced him not to go due to the CBN new forex policy then which i knew will affect our naira and will ofcus favour those in diaspora.

I spoke to my mum on Wednesday and i was shocked to hear we have 8 parking store empty without any importer requesting for 1. (These are parking store that won't take less than 1week before we rent them out). Dollar scarcity is affecting importers and its affecting the economy as a WHOLE.

I think i once told this house my dad is a car dealer? He told me how sales have been bad ever since naira started crashing even despite importing from canada which their dollar isn't same with US dollars.

In conclusion, even if na let's say $300 you can save in a month; that's almost 100k if you use WU and more than that if you use agencies.

I will login to my main account and copy a link of business I was aiming to go and start in Nigeria next year but what I am hearing back home and how prices of things have increased, i later realized this isnt the nigeria i visited last year. I have decided to sit my ass down here no matter how low my income is.

I will advice you to think twice before taking such step. Dont forget the nigeria way "he is a londoner" and you will also want to live tthat life till they dry u up.

Here is the link to the thread https://www.nairaland.com/2807449/turn-small-land-very-profitable

I have been following the thread for months and I have even contacted the op and make some enquiry back home.

No be who get money go buy gas cook? With the present economy, Nigerians will be forced to use firewood to cook.

Have 3 different source of income before planning to go back home.

Nogeria is not smiling. People are suffering.

Nigeria is hot and smoking right now, this is not the kind of decision you just make in a haste, its so bad now that Bosun Davies Shoyoye cannot even afford to pay the 10K due this week the refund for the fake building plan, before he was paying in weekly installments.

I am guessing you got a family, have you thought about that ?
Also, Nija is not a place one goes without a solid plan, even that plan self you have to put it into prayers because sometimes what you see or hear is not the reality on the ground.

Personally, I would recommend you stay put unless you have a serious solid business plan that can work in the current economic climate or you have a highly placed chairman that can give u a decent government posting.

Thank you dear friend.

I had a business plan but with the exchange rate, I wont be able to execute the plans.

Please google "Calgary / Alberta economy" things are not really much better right now. I lost 45% of my income 12 months ago. By the time I paid all my bills I hardly have $300 left every month. Yes I know its bad right now especially with the collapsed oil prices. Is it not possible to relocate to a different city ?

Bros, trust me Nija is not much better if you dont have a solid plan, you think its cheap to live in Nija (Lagos) in particular, you will be surprised how the bills creep up there as well.

* There is public transport but I guess it may not suit you, when conductor starts to swear at you that you have taken 2 spaces in the bus.
* If you have a car, you need to service it and fuel it etc.
* If you have a house, at least you save on rent.
* Pay bills like phone credit, tenement rate, estate fees etc, i know its small compared to Canada etc.
* You might need a house help/security/maiguard
* You are your own Nepa, you need to generate your own electricity when NEPA strikes. Petrol & Diesel cost.
* Think you are smart and buy inverter? dont use it well and let the battery degrade. you will need to shell out N100k just to replace the battery.
* You are your own water cooperation, you need to generate your own water whether you like it or not.
* Forget drinking tap water, unless you want to be wearing pampers after pooing all day, you need to buy decent water.
* The roads will spoil your car unless you get jeep, even jeep self wait till you hear the cost of replacing one single tyre.
* Nobody gives you money, they expect from you after-all you just came from abroad.
* Nothing is free, you have to grease palms most places u go, even though you know how to park, the security telling you where to park in V.I self wants something.

So to fit into the Nija system, I feel that one needs to earn money there. Unless one is taking a gigantic sum of money, you will just find that you are spending everyday and if nothing is coming in, it can be hard o.
