Na wa for CIC. Over three months and nothing for my side.
soletar:

I am in the same shoes, I applied on June 10, online. No word from them yet. I chose online route because i felt it would be easier. I would recommend PAPER route to any new applicants.

Paper route is the best option these days. The embassy receives loads of emails daily so, to enable them treat online applications fast is always a huge task. Even if you send them an email on any urgent matter,it takes a while before they would reply you. That is why its always advisable one sends emails on urgent matters up to 3 times repeatedly with an interval of 2-3 days . At least, one will be given a quick attention out of the 3.

They share. On several grounds and with a few other countries too (especially as pertaining to immigrant visas quest and those already on any form of their visas)! This is an already overflogged issue.

Just google-search or even "nairaland-search" and get astounded!

I concur with you and if you also read my comment well, you'll find out that I did not give an absolute 'NO' answer. I gave some instances where the embassy might require your info from other embassies....if they do not, then they would not have been able to detect fake visa stickers, fake entry and exit stamps, etc.

I wish I joined nairaland before submitting my documents. I will send a reminder email again now. It is actually frustrating.

Same thing with me. Submitted via online and did biometrics since May 19th 2016. Sent an enquiry to CIC as regards to my visit visa application but no response yet.

They should try and be as straightforward as the US. You know your fate at the interview once and for all. Canada hide hide too much. So tay for you to get the specifics for refusal you need to pay money again for GCMS notes.

That's good news. maybe the reminder email you also sent helped. Congrats. next time, you may give a paper route application a try so you wouldn't have to wait endlessly.

@awelekiti thanks for the encouragement. Let's watch as it unravels.

good day pals, please one last question before I round up my application. so I wanna apply for a visit visa, my aim of going to Canada is for an educational conference. its a 3 days conference and I'm gonna spend four nights in the hotel and return a day after the conference. CIC is asking me on the application form how much I wanna spend for the my trip ( this includes hotel accommodation, round flight and feeding) for my 5 days in Canada. my aunty is my sponsor and she has about 4 million in her statement of account, but they want to know how much I have budgeted for the trip, what should I say?

The amount to be indicated on the form doesn't usually include your flight details. It's the amount you intend to spend while in canada which includes the aforementioned, except the amount for your flight ticket . Have your sister do a separate letter, where she'll state clearly state that she's the one who will sponsor you and that air fare will be taken care of, by her the moment your visa is approved and the airfare doesn't include the amount you'd take along to Canada either as PTA or BTA (if you're travelling for business). On the application form, you may state 2,500USD or 3,000CAD or whichever you prefer. This should suffice for 5 days. Please go to booking.com to get a very cheap hotel rate (less than 100USD)within the venue of the conference. Also on the flight reservation, make sure no amount is indicated. I always advise people to visit a travel agent to get flight reservation because it will not show any amount. It will only contain your flight itinerary to and from destination. The embassy recognises this a lot. It's free of charge. Finally, apply via a paper route as online application could take forever to process. Good luck!

@ awelekiti
What do you mean by ''bond''? Kindly explain.

Secondly, is tax clearance a MUST?

awelekiti:
If you've been travelling before, an invitation for a tourist visa isn't a must but it helps. You're going there to enjoy your money but you must show or prove to VO that you have enough funds in your account. Before you prepare your application, let me hint you on the documents you'll need.

1-Bond
2-Board Resolution on Disbursement of your PTA as soon as your visa is issued. Have the board resolution sealed with the company seal.
3-Letter of Intro
4-Leave Letter
5-Employment Letter indicating your leave period
6-Company Bank statement(s)
7-Company registration Certificates, including CO2 and CO7
8- Current Tax Clearance Certificate

Your Documents:
1-Application form/Family Information form/Schedule 1 Form(if you've travelled or applied to any embassy, including Canada in the past)
2-Invitation Letter from Canada
3-Your Salary Bank statement
4-Your marriage Certificate and Child(ren) birth certificate(s)
5-If you have a property document, include it but it's NOT a must.
6- Photocopies of your previous Visas(both valid and expired ones)
7-Hotel reservation
8-flight reservation
9-Place everything in God's hands and have faith

The documents are inexhaustible but the aforementioned are the major ones you need

Yes, please! It would boost your chance of getting the visa. Every VO believes that, not every employee who travels to their country would want to return at the end of their mission so, it's left to you to provide every proof that shows strong ties to Nigeria. A Bond is a termly contract agreement between you and your employer. Literally, it's a legal document which is binding on you during your employment. Both employer and employee will sign an agreement that the employee would not leave the company until after a period of time say for instance, 3 years. This is to enable the employer recover what they have expended on the employee. You pay them back in the form of service you render as a staff. If you're an indispensable staff in a company and the company has invested so much in training you, there would be a bond that will restrict you from seeking employment anywhere(either home or abroad) for a stipulated period.

On tax issue, it's a MUST! Every company MUST prove that they are a legitimate entity and pays what's due Nigerian government. If you can't prove this, please don't waste your money. It's part of the mandatory documents in visually all embassies. In our company, what we paid as tax this year alone is close to 1m naira. we didn't just pay this to fulfil all righteousness. Anyone amongst us might need to travel for a reason. If your employer is yet to fulfil this, kindly advise them. Hope this helps.

please, from your knowledge how many days event do you think the VO will accept to be most suitable for a first time traveler to Canada?

The issue here is not about how many days , but how important the event is, to you or to your employer back home and also convincing the VO that you will return to Nigeria after your visit with the kind of documents you possess. I had traveled to attend a 2-day training before and the duration was indicated on my application form while applying. Get the right documents. Go through the previous posts by many nairalanders in this forum who had been granted visas to Canada and the requirements they listed on their posts, which they submitted alongside their applications and match it with what you have. the info is free, just find out.

You may be right about the delay but paper route application shouldn't take more than a month max(with my experience and that of fellow NL here), provided there are some clarification, which VO handling the applicant's case needs on the documents submitted. The highest mine had taken was one month. Recently, we've heard of 2 weeks, even 6 days...all TRV paper route with approved visas. Your cousins should exercise patience and panic less. Even if the event they're going for is past by the time it gets to their turn in queue, they won't refuse them, if they're qualified for visa.
