Did you check the Questions I asked at all Sir? Does Awoniyi make it to RIO?! He was given a chance but he failed to grasp it. Mikel played poorly in the Match..... but he showed his class as a senior and experienced Player in the second Match!

The fluidity if the Team was also outstanding in the second Match, and it's obvious they are gelling up gradually together!

A lot of people miss the importance of Mikel. People judge Mikel for what he does when he is on the ball but miss his off the ball contributions. That is why people say he played poorly a lot or why has he lasted so long at Chelsea when he is ordinary.

Mikel's reading of the game causes an imbalance in the play of the oppositions. That is why, even at Chelsea, when he goes off, the opposing team, somehow gets stronger.

If not the Suwon embarrassment, Awo would have made the squad.

We prayed for a drubbing.

I explained why the criticism were justified. Asking if most of the players are still on the squad list is similar to saying there were no changes at Chelsea after Guus Hiddink replaced Mourinho.

Those little changes matter.

I still maintain with better support and Preparation, our indigenous coaches can match their foreign top coaches. Pinnick betrayed Amunike and I am disappointed in him. Amunike was raising a glorious generation but Pinnick abandoned those young men to rot.

Just like I believe Coach Siasia with better support and time to groom a team to play the way he likes he would succeed. I believe Amunike was on to something special. Pinnick put a dent in the preparation of the future Super Eagles.

I believe our future is still solid and these boys Amunike groomed will still play their part. I respect our coaches and I expect more from them.

What we need is growth. I hope Coach Siasia grows with this competition.

The reason we bashed Coach Manu Garba is because we know he is far better than what we saw in New Zealand.

grin

The highlighted Points are the Reasons I was a Fan of you Sir! Critiquing a Coach for making tactical blunders is healthy but alleging him wrongly because of vexation is unfair!

My good Bro! But Manu Garba was bashed beyond repair after losing out at the U20 Tourney mostly by everyone on the Thread! Amuneke CV was questioned too after falling to qualify the Team for the U20 AFCON and automatically ruled us out of participating in the next U20 World Cup!

On praising Samson Siasia..... can you mention just an Indigenous Coach that outperformed him at the level of U20 and U23 Competitions respectively?!

where were u when he lost 6-2? Siasia needed u then. It is all to convinient that u pull up when the going is good. U can't blame anybody when even u didn't say anything to defend him, on this thread at least. It is the way of life when u do well u get congratulated and when u do bad u get booed of stage, don't give me any of that Nigerians killed Keshi type talk cuz it doesn't add up.

We shouldn't over-flog this matter, Siasia can decide to include Awoniyi in the final Olympics Squad and there is nothing you and I would do about it than to come on Nairaland and spit out the vexation here!

He knew it that Awoniyi isn't ready for the level, he brought Sadiq who eventually gets him ousted! That's called a fair competition and Siasia was just with the decision. He didn't clinch to the past performance of Awoniyi with the Team rather he goes with the best at the moment!

Which of the Players so far in the Camp doesn't deserve to be at the RIO?!

Which of the Players in the starting Lineup didn't play up to standard in the first 2 Matches?!

Tactically and professionally, are the Players well organized and disciplined or not?

Would inclusion of the Players you mentioned bring different results?!

It seems we ain't ready to desist from the false allegations against Siasia!
the criticisms were fair. Did you expect people to be praising Siasia for his losses? Do you think Siasia would not have taken the likes of Ajayi to Rio if not for those criticisms?

I can guarantee you, those criticisms were instrumental to the team you see, gloating is unnecessary. Especially gloating to people who want nothing but the best for the team and only applied tough love to help the team move forward

Come On. Coach Siasia lacks in a lot of areas. I like Coach Siasia too but he lacks in some ways. Especially his defence. Although I see him out growing that deficiency. He reminds me of a young Chris Coleman. The Coach of Wales in the Euros. Attack, attack, attack. There is more to the game than attack.

We should rally behind Coach Siasia to get a deserved medal but putting him as the best, I disagree. Amunike is my pick. However, I feel Coach Siasia is very good.

Siasia is more like Roberto Martinez. All attack, no defence or stability. By the time he meets a tactically superior team, he becomes clueless on what next to do

Now the issue is what we do against Colombia. Do we rest our players or see how they fare against another attacking team. The group is secure but as we have come to see resting players can backfire.

Thank God Siasia collected Bribes from Umar, Imoh, Etebo and Co to be in the Team!

This is the same Siasia many have condemned on this thread, and this is the same Team many expected to be disgraced out of the Tourney because their favourite Players ain't making List!

I was once an ardent Follower of this thread, but I quitted because of sentiments and favourism. Majority believed Amuneke is by a mile better than Siasia..... alas where is the U20 Team now?!

Goodjoe was a Believer until he was convinced confused and eventually gave up on Siasia and his Team, all because of false allegations!

Supernerd wasn't fully buying the allegations, but didn't know which side to be at the same time! But He never loses hope on the Team, perhaps a slight hope on Siasia!

Forgiveness was tagged a tribal Bigot because of his stance! He believes every Player should be given a fair chance, but some Dudes believe without Iheanacho, Iwobi and Co the Team is a complete right off!

Without playing the third Match..... the Team has already booked a place in the next Round - as the Winner of the Group, and by God's willing they will go further and do us proud!

Firstly let me set the records straight. No one of us who criticised Siasia's players selection wrote him off. We still believed that the team would at least put up a descent performance.

I have been active on joseph's threads since early last yr and i can tell u that we have here some of the best foorball analysts in this country.

Nobody needed to convince or confuse any1 here. His selections and friendlies results were there to see. Which included repeated trashing by d Flying Eagles.

Every single person that criticed Siasia's team selection had every reason to do so. In our very eyes, our best talents were being neglected for mediocre players and u expect the pundicts here to clap for Siasia abt that?

I still feel we could have produced a better team than this sef.

And no use playing d "i told u game". The same forgiveness that u claim is justified for clamouring for inclusion of Sadiq wrote off Etebo Citing reasons that any player hu is above 18 that is still in the Nigerian league is a write off. TheGoodJoe would remember that argument. After Etebo's 4goals Y didn't we come here shouting "i told u, i told u".

U have mentioned that we all cannot have same opinion so if u have a contrary opinion , this is a free forum, feel free to say it and nt waiting for an outcome beforw commenting.

Thanks for responding maturely, though I am not amazed because I've been following the thread since last Year too! Tbaba, Joseph, Supernerd, AIG07, SirGoodJoe, Safarigirl are names you can't do without seeing on any of the National Team Threads!

I've said it earlier that; critiquing or criticizing is healthy but falsely alleging someone is what I am against! Many said it here that Siasia had collected Bribes from certain set of Players thus they must be on the Plane to RIO.

I am only asking those who made the allegation to mention the names of the Players if they are in the Team presently!

I hope this is not the case. I am rooting for Coach Siasia on this one. He has something other coaches do not have and that is that Denmark drubbing. That horror is still on his mind and he knows going all out has consequences.

In the last two games, we have seen a different Coach Siasia. He made switches to secure his goal. Let us hope he grows with this tournament and his players grow with the system.

If things go as expected, the Dream Team will go in confidence, believe in the system and play their part. It is important they play without leaving too much space behind them and when they lose the ball, let them work together to prevent goals.

[b]EXCLUSIVE: CHELSEA STAR MIKEL, OTHERS STOP SIASIA FROM QUITTING

AfricanFootball.com can exclusively reveal that it needed the quick intervention of Chelsea skipper Mikel Obi and other players to stop Samson Siasia from resigning as coach of Nigeria Olympic team.

A top source in the team told AfricanFootball.com: “Siasia wanted to quit his post after the win over Sweden, but the players led by Mikel begged him to rescind his decision.

“The coach complained that he has been badly treated by the authorities, he has not been paid for five months and his team have not received the necessary support to succeed.”

The outspoken Siasia has openly complained about his poor working conditions even before the Rio Olympics.

And at the height of the drama when the team were stranded at their training base in Atlanta, Georgia, Siasia shunned the calls of sports minister Solomon Dalung and directly called the Nigerian vice-president Yemi Osinbajo to complain about his team’s plight.

Nigeria have already qualified for the last eight of the Rio Olympics and await the runners-up in Group A, which looks likely to be hosts Brazil, for a place in the semi-finals of the Olympics event.

They take on Colombia in the final group game on Wednesday in Sao Paulo.

[b]CAF $60,000 TO PAY SIASIA, OTHERS - NFF BOSS PINNICK

NFF president Amaju Pinnick has disclosed he has directed that a grant of $60,000 recently received from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) be used to clear the unpaid salaries of Nigeria Olympic team coach Samson Siasia and his assistants.

Before the Olympics in Rio, Siasia told the media he has not received his salary for five months.

It has also been revealed by AfricanFootball.com that the coach threatened to quit his post after the team’s win over Sweden in Manaus on Monday and had to be begged by his players led by Chelsea star Mikel Obi to rescind this decision.

“I have directed the secretariat that the $60,000 we received from CAF be used immediately to pay the U23 team coaches,” Pinnick revealed on a YouTube interview.

“Use this money to pay them and we are in the process of paying them.”

The NFF boss admitted the federation is “financially challenged”.

He said the past NFF administration led by Aminu Maigari left his board with “an obscene amount of debts”.

If people here feel they know it all, do you think we would debate or have different point of views? I must point that you are not making it healthy when you throw in statements like that.

People had different opinions. No one here worked in the camp to say money exchanged hands. Those accusations came from agents and managers of players Coach Siasia did not pick.

Some believed that as the explanation of why Coach Siasia dropped some good players or why he did not call some that will give some players in the squad competition.

We come here to share ideas and educate ourselves. If we know all, we would not read information from different sources posted here.

When we talk of criticism of Coach Siasia, we are not talking about just people on this thread. There were criticism from seasoned football journalist.

It would be misleading if you believe it is impossible for Coach Siasia not to know about this thread because this thread is very viral.

To explain this, I did a Google search: OLYMPICS SIASIA BIAS and this thread came out as number five. If you understand the viral nature of google, it means a little search of Siasia on Google will land here.

South Korea, not Japan but your assessment is hundred percent accurate. We were one nil up, he pulled out Mikel and the team collapsed. We conceded two and lost the game.

I hope Coach Siasia learnt from his substitution of Mikel in the Swede match.

As you pointed out, as we move into the knockout phases of the tourney, we face stronger teams with more tactical discipline and coaches who are capable of reading our weaknesses.

We need caution, discipline and most importantly respect. Let us pray and hope Coach Siasia has enough experiences to deal with the coming challenges.

As much as I feel for Coach Siasia and his crew, it hurts me that we are going through this when we are showing signs of having a good tournament in Rio. Things like this affects the team more than we know.

This is a professional tournament filled with pros. Any commotion or disrupt to training plans can affect the squad. Please, Coach Siasia and his crew should hold on. This has been a tough ride.

Nice of Amaju Pinnick to pay the salaries of the coaches. Pinnick should not let the situation deteriorate to this stage before acting. Ensure the coaches are paid before the qualifiers and tournament to avoid confusion during qualifiers and tournaments.

Same goes to bonuses of players. Pinnick and his technical committee should forecast coming challenges before it happens.

This was what affected our U20 team.

Thanks to Mikel and the players who helped keep Coach Siasia in the squad.
