Abisoye Taiwo, a 100 level student of Forestry and Wildlife Management of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in Ogun state was reportedly killed today after a peaceful protest by students of the school degenerated.

The students were staging a protest over insecurity on campus as some robbers attacked some hostels in the school last night, killing a 100 level Banking and Finance student in the process.

The angry students decided to stage a protest this morning as the spate of robbery attacks had increased within the school premises in the last one month.

They accused the management of the school of refusing to address the issue by providing them adequate security.


The students claim that a bullet fired by one of the police officers invited by the school management to restore law and order within the school premises, hit the 100 level student who died instantly.

Spate of robbery within the school premises isn't enough to stage a protest that would paralyse learning activities.

If the students union government know what they are elected/selected to do, they would sit with the school authority and discuss about ways to expunge the menance on the school campus.

Stories like this makes me miss and regard OAU as better than the rest by far! Students Union that can bind and bite any unjust hand. The then military govt can attest to this claim.

Either this story is incomplete or ignorance is on rampage. Why should a fresher entangles himself with a so called 'peaceful protest' instead of facing what brought him to school.

Have you ever been robbed in school?
Now imagine waking up every morning for a period of time or in the middle of the night to the news of robbery in 2 to 3 hostels almost everyday, and the sch management does nothing about it after complaining.
