I gave a buzz to an old friend,
but then I hoped she wouldn't answer.
A conversation of no words,
I needed to know who's Boss.

A clear picture, I couldn't ascertain,
so I wondered...
could there really be no wars?
no fears, no falls?
no images that raise brows?
But if man didn't stumble,
how would he have learnt to rise?
If he had not feared,
how would he have learnt to be brave?
And if he had not experienced hate and rejection,
how would he have appreciated love?
The best lessons that life has taught me,
were gotten from my deepest falls,
and the strength that pushed me back,
has given me more depth.

The best wars I would have,
would throw me on the battlefield,
with another me as an opponent!
as I battle my way to Mercy,
until I meet the Most Merciful.

Hello old friend,
I hope your silence means
you have been suppressed.

The beauty of a muslimah (a poem) - The beauty of a muslimah (a poem)
The beauty of a muslimah lies in her obedience to Allah,
She follows the Quran the true word of Allah,
She loves the Prophet because of her true love for Allah,
Deen over dunya because she fears Allah,

Ma sha Allah she's smart, she's modest, witty and also pretty,
The most beautiful you'll find in every city,
She needs no make up but still pretty,
She commands respect even with simplicity,

Ma sha Allah She does jihad daily,
Incorporating Islam into her baby,
Jihad through her dressing, Jihad through her speech,
But the enemys of Islam don't understand what it is,

Ma sha Allah She covers her aura but they say she's oppressed,
She's shy but not timid but they scream oppressed,
Only if they knew that they are the ones oppressed,
Oppressed by Shaytan but a muslimah remain blessed,
Blessed in this dunyah and akhira.

The Question of The Innocent Child

They were digging with bare hands

Removing sands, stones and concretes

The air was charged, everyone was frantic, despair written all over their faces

Rubble all around, an aftermath of an airstrike

These men kept digging, not minding another bomb might drop

I watched apprehensively, eyes fixed on the screen, "who was buried?" I thought bewildered

Perhaps a dear friend, a father or a mother, perhaps a good neighbor

My heart skipped with every minute passed

Is there a survival underneath?

Could they hear the cries for help?

I wondered still...

These men kept digging with bare hands

Suddenly,

I saw the little head,

The little fingers and the little legs

Subhanallah!

Its just a little child!

A child perhaps between the ages of 4 or 5

Buried underneath the earth alive!

Alone in the dark, No light, no air

These men kept digging with bare hands

Subhanallah!

The child is alive!

The cry, the sands in the eyes...

Subhanallah!

The chants of Allah is Great!

Allahu Akbar! Allah is the Greatest!

I kept watching in awe

I couldn't imagine what the child must have gone through

Perhaps the child was playing in the room, eating, or sleeping

This little child knows not about the politics, the dictators or the terrorists

Just an innocent little child for God's sake!

And the Prophet warned against harming the innocent,

The elderly, the women and the children

How can these people watch the harm done to children and not fear Allah?!

How can they let the innocent suffer and still believe they are fighting for justice?!

How do they intend to explain to the creator on the day the innocent child asks,

For what sin of mine did you take away my life?!

Every Life is Sacred

Oh! It happened again,
Paris was in pain!

The candle lights,
The still teary nights…

The world mourns,
The terrorist returns…

They caused mayhem to the innocent,
Acting gods with insolent…

We put up the hashtags and the facebook updates
Changing our profiles and condemning these reprobates
But that is just for a while
We soon forget, caught up in our own lives, never going the extra mile

I do not pen this for you all to be reviled
I am as guilty, so I’ve realized
The horrors I’ve seen can’t be quantified
I speak not about movies, but reality televised

So when next the horrifying bomb goes off
And then follows swiftly, the macabre sounds of the Kalashnikov
Whether in Aleppo, Paris or Maiduguri
Be sure you truly care to go the extra mile

Empathize and say a prayer for the affected
Pray for peace, and for the world to be united
Learn about one another; eschew prejudices, stereotypes and hatred
Know that the life in you is same as in others and it is sacred!

Whether in Paris, Aleppo or in our own Maiduguri…

Ramadhan Comes!

One month, once in a year,

One night, once in 354 nights

The month draws near, as the days unfold,

Like an expectant mother, her due date nigh

Or perhaps, like a farmer awaiting the season to plant for the morrow

Lo! The companions were prepared several months prior

For the effects from the previous were constantly at fore

It is indeed a month like no other,

Therein lies a night worth a thousand further

The gates of hell would all be locked up, and the devil in chain

The gates of paradise would be wide open, and Allah’s Mercies pouring like rain

Only the wretched loser would miss out of Allah’s bounties therein

For His righteous servants fast by day and stand by night fearing

Their sins committed from time past, their weaknesses and their doubts are overwhelming…

Ramadhan comes like a ray of light in a darkened tunnel

A sign from the Most Merciful of His love eternal

O dear brothers and sisters in the deen, Ramadhan comes!

A month of worship,

A month of blessing,

A month of forgiveness,

A month of free tickets to Jannah!

She was blessed.

We covered her in a garb of honor,
but honor 'failed' her.
So she picked the adornment of shame,
and dwelled in the garden of 'fame'.
What pleasure she found in the rain,
dwindled when the drought came.

We elevated her to a high place,
above the earth and humanly gaze,
but she said upon grass she must graze,
and so she fell upon her face.

We served her meal upon a golden tray,
she looked awhile with nothing to say.
No words, no thanks!
The grace was taken away.

I pray that you may,
live beyond the standard that you came,
rise above the earth,
before you breathe your last.

What He said...

Solah! He said.
Let the consciousness drive fuel to your feet,
Know that Iman would not rain,
when the drops from your Wudhu wain.

Remember the One who sends the rain
And made it hug the earth till
it produce grain.
Remember that even you used
to be Nay,
until He said 'Be! ' and you became.

Love! He said.
Let love drive actions to your limbs,
in secrecy devote your good deeds,
be the best to kith and kin
and know that righteousness always wins.

Love till love drives you,
away from the comfort of your bed
away from the false desires of your soul,
away from the deception of the world
and it's whole,
away to a journey of souls,
and be amongst the best of souls!
To meet your Lord,
And watch what you have sowed,
GROW!

The Safest Place I Have Come to Know By Sino

Shall I tell you of a place I know?
Shall I share with you its secrets that seldom show?
Perhaps it may arouse in you, a feeling of zeal
Perhaps to you, the truth of all things reveal

In this place is mutual rivalry and vying
Challenges that seems overwhelming and daunting
A place of brain, stamina and intellectualism
A place wherein lies the principles of all forms of spiritualism

The path to this place is narrow and long
But on Angel’s wings shall you walk along
And verily, death on this path seeking this place,
Guarantees Jannah, with everlasting grace

Age never matters in this place
Don’t you know you are meant to seek from the cradle to the grave?
And indeed, what you seek in this place,
It’s like a drop in an ocean’s wave

The safest place I have come to know
Wherein lies peace, love and tranquility
Therein the Deen’s beauty show
Islam simplified, a religion of purity…

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge, the 9-letters word,
That makes us distinguish from right and wrong.

A companion in solitude,
what makes us stand out in multitude.

“The search for knowledge is compulsory on every Muslim” says Allah’s Messenger
Whether you are young or old, irrespective of your gender.

Acquiring its tenets, your ways become lightened
A lamp in the dark that makes everything brightened

Our guide to happiness,
The removal of our sadness.

A light unto heaven’s gate,
What keeps us up-to-date.

It is an ornament among friends and siblings,
A shield against enemies and ignorant beings.

Therefore, seek the knowledge of this world and especially that of the deen
Either you are an adult, youth or a teen

Because if you don’t, people will call you Green*
Telling you it is beef that is inside sardine. grin grin

Be a seeker of knowledge today,
For verily, it will lead you through your way.
*Green: A person that is naïve or unaware of obvious facts.

THE WISEST FOOL

Have you seen the one who is a fool whereas thinks he is wise?
One who has been manipulated to reach a false compromise,
Killing innocent lives, claiming he is aiding the path of Allah, the All-Wise,
While Allah’s book says the otherwise,

The faith of Islam he wishes to bastardise,
He’s on a mission that can never actualize,
Is he expecting a deluded enjoyment in paradise?
Or Hoor Iyn* that he will never visualize?

“Do not kill a sacred soul” Allah and his messenger say,
Whether it is a believer or one who doesn’t pray.
Therefore, he should never expect a pay,
Except the fire of Saqar** that doesn’t spare anything that comes its way.

Calling him Muslim irritates,
Calling him human undercompensates,
It is even a disgrace to compare him with animals that feed on concentrates,
He is nothing but a rebel, one of Devil’s incarnates.

Some call him a sleeper cell, while others call him a suicide bomber,
But I call him a goon of the highest order,
Who has come to set our peaceful society into chaos and disorder,
Killing innocent citizens, committing murder.

Does he thinks the killing of innocent souls will make him a martyr?
Nay! The coverings of the fire shall be his attire.
Burning in the fiery walls of Jahannam*** with satyr,
One who was once worshipped besides Allah in the Greek empire.

O you evil chasseur!!!
O you Saboteur!!!
One who has been fed with false stories by Raconteur,
Who has been brainwashed by some provocateur.

Please think, reflect and be wise in the right sense,
Look at how precious life is in its true essence.
Put an end to this evil menace and stop this nonsense,
We can live together in a peaceful society, a world devoid of violence.

Stop the killing and the unrest,
Do not despair! Allah’s mercy is wider than the distance between the east and the west,
Not feeling guilt and unrepentance are among what Allah detest,
So seek the forgiveness of your creator, repent and stop your evil quest,

He shall forgive you of your sins and admit you into paradise, the peaceful eternal rest,
Garments of silk, couches raised high, gardens whose rivers are the purest,
Drink from the well of kawther, be the Prophet’s guest!
Dwell in Jannah, a place where everything is at their best.

*Hoor Iyn: Pure virgins which Allah has promised to the Muttaqqun(Those who fear Allah much by abstaining from what he has forbidden and follow what he has enjoined on them)
**Saqar: A name of fire mentioned in the Qur’an
***Jahannam: Another name of a fire mentioned in the Quran

Istikhara said No!
Hands raised,
tongues praised,
hearts prayed,
but the unfolding events never paid.

"Khairun li fi dini wa ma'ashi... "
"If it is good for me in relation
to my religion and my life... "
Then guide my heart to beat
upon the right path.
Then cause my body to tingle
to the right strokes.
Then cause my soul to bond
with that which makes it whole.
Then guide my feet upon the path
I would call Home.

"...anna hadha lamra sharun li fi dini wa ma'ashi "
"...and if it is bad for me, in relation to my religion
and my life..."
then upon that track, do not make my
heart strive.
and upon such emotions, I should not pine,
and remind my soul,
"Upon this, do not bind! "
then carry my feet far away
from the maze that could lead me astray.

Hands still raised,
tongues still praise,
hearts still pray.
The unfolding actions would unveil
what istikhara really says.

Slitz...

Istikhara is the prayer for guidance enjoined upon us by the Prophet (peace be upon him) whenever we have to make a decision.
