Restructuring ~ What Is Your State Comparative Advantage? by kinibigdeal(m): 12:34pm On Sep 03, 2016 |
We all clamouring for restructuring, which am very much in support of but paradoxically, some quarters are not in support of such idea, probably due to the term 'comparative advantages' of states over the other. Lagos for example have got the economic power and thanks to the new discovery of oil etc if Nigeria is to be restructured today, what comparative advantage do you think your state have over the other in terms of resource control. As for me, i can talk of large amount of Natural Asphalt/bitumen, Cocoa and petrol. Moreso, we all know that every state depend on each other for survival which is the beauty of federalism |

kinibigdeal: It is important that to note that if Nigeria is to be restructured, two things must happen. 1) All the states must be dissolved and 'Regions' created in their place. 2) a referendum must be held in all the 774 Local Governments so that the people can choose what region they want to belong to. 2 Likes |

Bros nothing concern you with people whom you don't know from Adam. In regional government or resource control, if your land is blessed with, agriculture, oil, seaport and a every good thing in the world, that is your inheritance. You harness it and buy things you need From other regions simple. People can also come to your region in search of greener pastures, that is when you let them do the work and earn a certain percentage just like Dubai is doing to non-indigenes. It is not your business if other regions are hurry or too rich, just like it's not your business that Saudi Arabia and Brunei are rich. You get that? Just harness you environment and survive. 1 Like |

Re: Restructuring ~ What Is Your State Comparative Advantage? by attackgat: 9:34pm On Sep 03, 2016 |
walemoney007: There is a big need to collapse the states. Igbos and the minorities who are comfortable with them must have their region. We cannot have true federalism with these artificially created States, it is not viable and it only promotes 'divide and rule'. True federalism must come hand in hand with regionalism. |

The most important issue should be the ability of each region to tick all d boxes for indices of real development. In other words, d major concern should not be any perceived or comparative advantage so called, it should be more on sustained ease of business, security, standard health delivery n infrastructure, effective transportation mechanism, reasonable GDP, improved education n research facilities, massive industrialisation and harnessing of natural/human resources, reduced death rates/infant mortality rate, effective n diligent public service including d judiciary n criminal justice system, and lots more! When any region has made appreciable progress in these then they can come up for air and start talking 'comparative advantage' |
