Why is Bunmi not the minister instead of that old, dirty, and nasty looking man, whatever his name

There is a difference between the minister of Communication and ICT which is an agency under the ministry of communications.

No, he should not be the minister of communications wasting his skill sets on other irrelevant communications issues, we need him to specifically head and focus on the ICT agency and use his skill sets to run and grow our ICT.

He is exactly where he needs to be..

We are talking about $155 billion electronic transactions and some Kenya loving joker is talking about some Kenya village $30 million rubbish..

This is what you get when some self hating people hate their own country so much that they think insignificant and far behind countries are better than their own country...

What a shame

We are taking about mobile money network within a country and you are bragging about how Nigeria has become PayPal’s 3rd largest mobile e-commerce market with transactions of $819 million expected in 2016.....Money going out of the economy not coming in o and you think that is development?

Why is Paypal not allowing Nigerians to receive funds through their platform without some bothering themselves using VPNs?! Why won't the Naira loose value even to the "small Kenya's shilling" as one million Kenyan shillings which used to exchange for N1.9m now exchanges for N4.2m! cheesy

Look for those in the IT sector and ask them where it is easier to deploy.

From your link.

When a developer is accepted into Andela, he or she is relocated to the company’s offices in Lagos or Nairobi, and is trained in a specific technology stack. After six months, participants are then placed with tech company clients which have included Microsoft, IBM, the Muse, and Udacity.

It's a known fact that most of our developers don't work for indigenous companies.
That's Brian drain for you.

That's why most of our technologies are not adopted locally.

Just looking at e-commerce, more than 90% of consumers prefer Pay on Delivery.

I work in Nairobi and still comfortable with my Nigerian passport. You think Nigeria deploy IT more than Kenya?.....Let us work with facts not sentiments!

Answer the following questions.

1. Can you in Nigeria receive International money transfer such as Moneygram, WesternUnion, Worldremit etc into your phone number that is not linked to any bank account?

2. Can you in Nigeria go to a nearby kiosk and top up your phone line with money and use a visa card that is exclusive to your phone number, go online and shop on Amazon, buy flight tickets, pay Skype subscription etc?

3. Can you go to a nearby shop on your street to go and cash money sent from anywhere in the world without visiting a bank?

4. Can you go to a nearby shop on your street with your ATM Card and use the Shop's POS to withdrawal money from your account or can also deposit money into your bank account or someone's own?

5. Can you use a Nokia 3310 to send money to the phone number of someone in the rural area and the person walks not less than 2 mins to cash the money?

6. Can someone anywhere in the world send you money straight to your phone number, then you go to a nearby shop to buy groceries and you pay the owner by sending the total amount to the shop's code?

7. Do you use your Glo, MTN, Airtel or Etisalat line to pay for services such as Uber Taxi, that is also in Nigeria?

8. Can farmers in Nigeria who owns greenhouses use a phone as basic as Nokia 3310 wherever he/she is in Nigeria to control the temperature of their greenhouses or schedule when crops will be watered?

9. Why do IT giants prefer their regional base in Nairobi as against Lagos or Abuja?

I am Patriotic but facts are sacred!

On your observations regarding Mobile money, It's always better to have a clear understanding before criticizing. Most of those items are possible in Kenya because the mobile money service there is led by telecommunication companies and not banks. The last administration in Nigeria restricted mobile money services to banks and forbade telcos from taking the lead role. Banks can't be at the forefront of ICT hence the slow growth. It has nothing to do with the looks of the Ministers, in fact it's even the current Minister that seems more interested in unravelling the mobile money conundrum.

You also have the superiority complex as u think u r superior to ur fellow African. This is what kills you.
aresa:

ICT is a department run by other people within the ministry of communication.

ICT in Nigeria ia very larger and more dominant in sub Africa. We have more ICT entrepreneurs with great innovations than kenya many times over.

We larger online presence than any country in AFRICA.

We are doing better in ICT than the countries you are puting ahead of your own country regardless the age and looks of any minister.

Facebook founder recognised this and invested tens of millions of dollars in our ICT.

He spent several days in Nigeria but just one day in Kenya and he's back in Nigeria again for more ICT events and leadership meetings.

Our ICT is better so we have more competent people than they do in Kenya..

Thinking other people are better than you because of looks and what they wear is inferiority complex and lack of love and pride for your own country.

If you think kenya is better than your own country, why not just renounce your nigerian citizenship and move to kenya.
