. Yababoy, nice to hear you arrived safely. Please could u post your experience from the point you left Nigeria, down to your POE (point of entry) and arroval. Not forgetting a couple of things u went along with. I know say u no fit waka witot yaba garri. We will really appreciate as it will help a couple of other people.
Left Nigeria on the morning of the 4th of September using Etihad airline. Major snag was that I intended to buy PTA using Travelex at the airport. Plan was to do an online transfer but realized they only collect cash. Tried to withdraw some cash from the ATMs at the airport but none was working. I had to send someone out of the airport to help with the withdrawal but had to call the person to come back when I was about to miss my flight. So summarized story, couldn't exchange enough money and therefore short on spending money until I fix a way to transfer my money in.
Had a stopover at Abu Dhabi and arrived Edinburgh at about 7.40am of September 5. Had to use a cab to get to the school as there was no Student union pickups and I had 3 Bags so using a bus would have been hectic as I'll have had to use 2 connections. Before I forget, withdrew 10 pounds at an airport ATM, exchange rate was 593 Naira to the pounds plus an extra N252 charge shocked. That was crazy.
Anyway, got to the school, went to the main reception. Got my accommodation sorted. Had a quick bath and took a needed nap.

Oga no vex, when I tried paying for the priority with a different card it kept declining until I used the card I had earlier used for the previous transactions. It's just cautionary.

I paid my IHS with first bank ATM. And visa with GT bank. And I also paid visa fees for someone using my GT card ( don't know what he used for ihs).
I didn't use prority sha but I believe any card could be used your card might have been declined for other reasons

All this payment are made at different times and different site for priority . So there is nothing to tie up payment with card type.

Hey Yababoy, hope you've had time to settle. How much was the exchange rate at travelx for Naira to pounds. Also is western union a viable option to send naira here and receive cash in the UK.
Thanks

I guess its Union Bank (just a guess oh) cos they are one of the banks that have very high rate and charge N252 for commission. I use GTB currently at about 520. Stanbic and UBA have the fairest rate, you can check www.abokifx.com for daily update on the ATM rates.

I don't think anyone can answer you because the amount in naira depends on what bank card u use. Every bank charges different amount as there is no standard rate. My advice is to find out from ur bank the exchange rate( which might change daily by the way) so u can calculate the total ur self

I can't remember being asked any questions at departure. At arrival, the immigration officer only asked my purpose of visit, looked at the passport and asked for my course of study. I answered and she stamped my passport, that was it. I actually forgot to hold a copy of my CAS and I saw a lot of Chinese students with their own printouts. This made me a bit apprehensive that I will be asked and I might be delayed as I'll have to retrieve it from my laptop, but I wasnt even asked for it.

As at when I inquired, Travelex only had dollars at NGN356 and no GBP. I dont know if Western Union is a good option yet as I'm still trying to determine the best option to get GBP too.

I paid $521 for Ikeja Centre....I am hearing the V.I. Centre is cheaper..I dont know their own price...maybe that is the reason there is a difference

446 is for the VI center while 521 is for the ikeja center. So it's up to you to choose the center
