Istikhara said No!
Hands raised,
tongues praised,
hearts prayed,
but the unfolding events never paid.

"Khairun li fi dini wa ma'ashi... "
"If it is good for me in relation
to my religion and my life... "
Then guide my heart to beat
upon the right path.
Then cause my body to tingle
to the right strokes.
Then cause my soul to bond
with that which makes it whole.
Then guide my feet upon the path
I would call Home.

"...anna hadha lamra sharun li fi dini wa ma'ashi " "...and if it is bad for me, in relation to my religion and my life..."
then upon that track,
do not make my heart strive.
And upon such emotions,
I should not pine, and remind my soul, "Upon this, do not bind! "
then carry my feet far away
from the maze that could lead me astray.

Hands still raised,
tongues still praise,
hearts still pray.
The unfolding actions would unveil,
what istikhara really says.
Slitz...

Istikhara is the prayer for guidance enjoined upon us by the Prophet (peace be upon him) whenever we have to make a decision.

Jazakillah khayran @Slitz, another beautiful piece with a profound message...I have tried to make use of istikhara for so many decision making, and I have never been disappointed, Alhamdulilah, We need to trust in Allah's will more than our desires and wishes...I liked the fact that you also paint a picture of not giving up with the following lines:

In Peace, Not In Pieces!

In Peace, Not In Pieces!
With Peace should we settle our sectarian differences.
Good debates and dialogues should be our way,
Insults, vulgar words and name callings we throw away.

In Peace, Not In Pieces!
In Peace should we relate with kin and kiths; nephews and nieces.
Spend time with them, go on holiday,
Call them if you miss them, even if they are faraway.

In Peace, Not In Pieces!
In Peace should we live with people of different races, tribes and places.
Whether you are from Nigeria, Oman or Norway,
We all descended from Adam, who to this world, was our gateway.

In Peace, Not In Pieces!
In Peace should you dwell with your spouse in tranquility free of indifferences.
May Allah makes you to wake up with each other smiles every day,
And reunites you in paradise when comes the Judgment day.

In Peace, Not In Pieces!
In Peace should we live with the People of the Book and skeptics.
If our Lord had so willed, none would be astray,
Be thankful and grateful for the guidance which you don’t have to pay.

In Peace, Not In Pieces!
With only peace can we create a world devoid of violence and vices.
This is my hope, dream and prayer for the world someday,
But when the time shall be, Only Allah has the final say.

I like his poem "cry" written in sister ayinba's thread. That's lovely stuff. For me I'm not to good at it. Only one I wrote in 2004 that I got award for. I didn't even expect award. I just wrote it and sent it to a company and they sent it back to me weeks later in a customized wooden frame accompanied with a freaking bill to pay for a silly IFE (WORLDCUP) grin .

I was mad broke and dumped the trash. But I still keep my frame though. undecided They wanted my attention on a stage to recite my poem at a graduation but I hate publicity like that so I turned it down. All I wanted was my IFE but they put me on condition. Either I pay half price for it and have it sent to me or attend the graduation and get it free.

Since then I didn't write anything

Judge Me Not!

Little do you know about me
A past I really do have
A future seeking the mercy of Allah
For my heart has gone through the cleansing process
And if Allah could forgive
Then who are you to call me a hypocrite?

For all we know
Allah is the best of judge
He alone knows the unknown
You think yourself sincere?
But ignore the teachings of the prophet
Correct me lightly
Do dawah with sincerity
Abuse me not
For I might be moving slowly
Or not threading ur path
But we're Muslims
And one thing is certain
You are not my creator!

Our voices shall be heard!

Loud and clear yet mild

Reverberating far and wide

Aren't we ordinary people?

With our unique faults and flaws?

We strive, we fall

We repent and then stand tall

This path of ours is meant for all

But some wouldn't agree after all

We submit to Allah in all

To Him shall be our total recall

Assalam alaykum sister, jazakumullahu khayran for sharing your poem with us, we look forward to reading more...

@lanrexlan and Empiree, the following came to me while devouring Sallah meat with cashew nuts and a vitamin C drink cheesy grin

Eid days

Eid days are like diamonds in the sunlight
Each day with a million precious sparkles
Each year a different sparkling delight

We merry, we rejoice, we celebrate
With worship and praise, we reflect
Ibrahim, our father in faith, we emulate

My heart is at Hajj
I long to stand on mount Arafah
Wherein millions of faithful converge

Eidu-l-Adha, a festivity of sacrifice
With piety in heart, hoping with each strand of hair
Forgiveness, and a home in paradise.

Sino

Eid Mubarak to you all!

Faith

I have often wondered what faith is,

I claim faith; I am a believer I say,

I am one who surrenders to the creator,

His love overshadows others, my heart, His forever

But then I listened to tales of old,

Of Prophets, their companions, the righteous predecessors

Lo! Those are the ones with faith

Abraham had faith; he obeyed his Lord without question

Would you have wanted to sacrifice your only son, if commanded?

Would you still believe, if left in a desert, with no sustenance?

Is it the tale of that female sahabah narrated?

She lost her only child to ill health

Still, her faith was unshaken

Welcoming her hubby with a smile and conjugal bliss!

She is a believer, she owns nothing, Allah owns everything!

Lo! These are the people of faith!

And when one sahabah was told

A tale of his beloved who had travelled to the heavens and back

In a single night with a strange animal by flight

He believed with conviction in his heart

He is As Siddiq, his beloved had named him so

Again! Those were the forerunners of faith

And I can go on and on

The tales are there for those who seek

I listened…

I read…

I learned…

Thus, I became overwhelmed with fear…

What kind of faith do I claim?

What sort of faith do you seek?

Do you have faith?!

When 1960 was born
it gave a shrill cry of hope.
The innocence of its tears
drowned all of our fears.
We stood in anticipation,
necks stretched, eyes wide.
Oh! What a pleasurable sight
when your legs began to crawl,
and your tiny toes,
the world it explored.

Our grown legs tired
and our souls ached,
to behold your bent legs straight.
You have crawled for so long
yet you have aged.
Your teeth have lost milk
and your hair, greyed.
Why do you crawl,
after you have aged?

They say you had a deficiency
from birth,
and till we changed your meals,
your legs would stay bad.

Oh, our milk is not as fresh,
our breasts have sagged.
Our backs have bent
and our voices, cracked.
But come dear child,
together our arms will carry
and feed you,
till your feet come alive.

A mother's arms never tire,
never tire of it's own.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE NIGERIA!!!

Title - Bankrupt

Rasulullah(pbuh) said
" Alhamdulillah fills the scales ".

So when I found myself bankrupt,
downcast, hearts dropped,
my accounts gone red
because my good deeds bled,
I said,
Alhamdulillah!

Alhamdulillah filled my scales,
but my sins didn't pale.
Downcast, I wailed.
Astagafurllah!

Back and forth I go,
I am bankrupt, I know.
Poor of my Jannah glow.
I sow,
and hope my Alhamdulillahs would grow
and recline my roots
in the best abode.
Al Firdaous!
