People that are complaining about our signings should take joy in the fact that we have it better than City.

Our signings are nothing compared to the likes of Stones, Sane and Bravo. Even Nolito is nothing more than a decent player..

Pogba was not it in the first half. In fact the whole team. But in the second half city players defended deeply and pogba even had to come deep to get the ball most times. I can only fault him for always keeping to the ball when he was supposed to release it. Did you notice there was always 2 guys on Pogba when he had the ball? I praise Pep for that. He got his tactics right and prepared his team well.

In the 1st half, the ready made excuse was probably "he is best as an AM"

In the second half when he was shifted to his best position, the excuse changed to "he had two players on him - kudos to the opposition's manager"

Are these the kinda ridiculous excuses we are gonna be reading whenever Pogba is ineffective and redundant in any game?

If anything, it should be Ibra that should be spared due to his AMF's off-day but we still saw him dropping deep & making himself useful...trying to make things happen and constituting a nuisance to City's defence.

Look, the fact remains that Pogba offered nothing from his supposed best position and such performances are unacceptable - there's no need trying to downplay his ineffectiveness in today's game!

eph12:

Continuing to scream most expensive player wouldn't change a thing in case you don't know. He didn't set the fee himself. But am sure you know that.

Story for the gods...

It's so easy for peeps like you to trumpet the "Rooney is wasting our 300k - he should be benched" stuff all day long but when e reach Pogba turn, all sorts of excuses seem to have been prepared in his defence like say na small money e dey collect.

And yes, the world's most expensive player should be critiqued accordingly if he performs below expectation - on these pages, there won't be any sacred cow trust me!

Rashford is always positivity..

On a serious note, the attack looked better when we adopted a 433 set up in the second half even though we were still helped by Bravo and Stones who were our 12th and 13 men respectively..

I just hope Mourinho doesn't go hard on his players and should tell them it's just a game, there will always be the next so as not to dampen their confidence..

We lost to a better and faster team. Let's deal with it and move on to the next game.
We had a bad day at the office. Simples.
We will get better.

Lingard isn't competing with Martial's position to begin with. Mourinho was the one who played him there and dropped Martial. Both could have started..
Yes, but Martial got dropped because Jose wanted Mkhi and Lingard at the same time.

What I'm saying is Lingard should never ever start ahead of Martial on the left.

I don't think anybody here praised Pogba for his efforts today so calm down because you're fighting with yourself.
Pogba was selfish with the ball but we know he can be better. As for Rooney he finished 2 seasons ago. So?

Someone just said we won four games with individual brilliance?

Nah we should have won with your brilliance.

These clowns talk rubbish as if MSN doesn't win 80% of their games through MSN's brilliance!

I already know what they'll say if we beat city.
"Kompany, Aguero etc weren't available and Mourinho was lucky Pogba's 30 yard shot went in, also Zlatan's header was a lucky one. If not for Nacho's wastefulness, City would have won." grin
Exactly Pogba's 30 Miles shot went in

Rooney played better than both of them, am I disputing it?

All I'm saying is that he played below average. Nothing noteworthy to show for the 90mins of his play, unlike KDB that played in a similar role to his and shone like the stars.

Bruyne played on the wing na.

Yesterday I posted it here that I wasn't sure about today's game and I sense we going to lose but all I wanted was to see how we turn out against a top team. I was really disappointed with how we played. It's too early for the result to have a say in the title race bur being out played, out fought and beaten is the worst thing that can happen to a united side against a city side. I only hope Mou and the team learn their lesson and treat the next big game with all seriousness.

He didn’t play the number 10. City adopted a 4-3-3 kind of formation with Fernadinho, Silva and Bruyne playing behind Iheanacho, Sterling and Nolito.

Any positivity from today?

The urgency and momentum in the second half was a major positive - if we had started with that tempo, the outcome might have been different.

Despite the horror show from Miki & co in the 1st half, I think Mourihno's tactics were partly to blame for the poor performance. Yeah, we know Pep usually sets up his teams to dominate Possession but I think that we allowed City too much space and time on the ball - we shouldn't be doing that in a home match!

Dont you think Rashford should rather play alongside Ibra upfront whenever the team is in search of goals?
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by SailorXY: 8:45pm On Sep 10, 2016
@AdisaOwala
The second half which I saw was very good. I hear the first was total crap, this is the third time we will be playing a game of two varying halves. I think it a phenomenon that should be arrested immediately.

Having said that I think Jose's tactics were spot on. The personnel earlier deployed made it ineffective. Obviously the plan was to encourage them hold possession & become arrogant while stinging precisely by hounding unannounced & finishing off counters when they least expect.

At least we have shown up to be capable of varying patterns & made a tactical switch in the second period which limited City to defend-counter approach. Mourinho need to be more bold & find a starting system that will house as many of his best legs as possible.

SAF shaking his head at the death suggests he wasn't happy about something that happened today & I'm sure it wasn't exactly about the loss.

Our midfield is disjointed, can't even string 2-3 passes while on the move. And Pogba should be slapped and benched when next he spends time romancing the ball which delays the play.

I suppose you paid more attention to the palpations of your heart as you grapple with the reality of your team being out-classed in today's derby that you didn't take cognizance of this extract from Mourinho's post-match interview : "Honestly, I have two or three players in the first half who, if the game is now and I know what is going to happen, I don't play them...”

http://m.goal.com/x/en-ng/news/4071/premier-league/2016/09/10/27375732/mourinho-points-finger-at-players-following-derby-defeat

Pray tell, how is it different from the one depicted in my afore-uploaded Facebook screengrab?

Next time you seek to engage me in a game of wits, be sure to get your facts right!

Now here's the full session on that,so you understand what I meant in my initial post!

"Look, honestly, I had two or three players in the first half who, if the game was played now and I know what is going to happen, then I wouldn't play them. But this is football and sometimes players, they disappoint managers, and sometimes players, they give us great surprises. I thought because of the characteristics of the game we could hurt them playing with some individuals with some qualities, they didn't give what I want. Is it their fault? Is it my fault? It's my fault because I'm the manager and it's always my fault because it's always my choice."

Stop being a play store text editing app, dunderhead Facebook pundit!!!
