Igboid: Hahahaha. You are such a joker. Just because her conclusions don't tally with yours you are throwing a fit? Grow up Mr. Unfortunately for you, she has some authority while you on the hand are ..well.. a Mr. Nobody. Is it the same Onitsha where the Shoprite there was reportedly idling away and experiencing low patronage due to low spending power that you are hyping here? Continue deluding yourself because you seem to be the only person buying your own hype o. lol. Atleast Onitsha even has a market to take save face small, abeg what does Enugu have to justify this your persistent hype? I know it's too much for your ego to accept, but comparing the SouthWest to your region is akin to comparing sleep to death. Move on jo. Real talk. 3 Likes |

Henrydone: Make I add another injury, couple with upper cut sef Igbos are mainly traders that buy and sell on a daily basis, when they sell they deposit and when they want to buy they withdraw. Henrydone: Well, it so happens that Enugu has more money in Circulation than Oyo state. So, what does that say about your useless economium stats? Exactly, it only corroborates the fact that Oyo is lagging behind Enugu, and is moving fast to catch up with Enugu. If she is lucky enough, she might catch Enugu in the year of our lord 2150. |
Re: The South-West contributions to Nigeria's economy and other myth-busting facts by Igboid: 10:05pm On Sep 14, 2016 |
RockHard: Why must Onitsha people patronize Shoprite who would probable repatriate most of their profit back home to SA, depleting the money in Circulation in Onitsha, when Onitsha people have ready made big markets where they can buy all that shoprite offers at cheaper price and whatsmore, the money stays within Anambra and is gradually circulated to trickle down to everyone. I see nothing wrong with the above scenario as I don't really know if Shoprite Onitsha is really failing. Shoprite in Enugu is doing well though. |

No region is small. I have already stated that SE can make 400 people naira billionaires every year without feeling it. That is the strenth in Numbers. They wont know they did anything. It is a measure of what they can do if they stand alone. Then oil money is spoiling Nigeria, so SS money is not helping the economy, in what way are they ahead then? GDP size is SW more than NW more than SS more than NC more than SE more than NE or SE is last. So never be saying SS has bigger economy than SW or NW. That is wrong. |

Igboid: Now it's obvious you're one hell of an ignorant fellow. First of all Enugu is a practically DEAD state economically -- FACT. What commercial activity goes on there to warrant such wild assertion about its consumer spending? Absolutely NONE. As for Onitsha, Twistaray already captioned the logic behind whatever money flows in that tiny market city when he said, I repeat: Igbos are mainly traders that buy and sell on a daily basis, when they sell they deposit and when they want to buy they withdraw. The circle keeps repeating on a daily basis, my friend that is not a measure of development or wealth. Obi Jackson (An Anambra indigene), a shareholder in S.A-based Smile Communications, chose to launch and introduce the Nigerian branch of the ISP in Ibadan in 2013. Why not Onitsha? Smile didn't launch in Onitsha until March of this year 2016. The reason for that decision is very simple -- spending power, and because numbers don't lie. The following thread sums it up. https://www.nairaland.com/3114368/nigerian-states-number-registered-phone 1 Like |

RockHard: Are you dumb or what? Obijackson can choose to site his business anywhere he likes. We have Igbo businesses in Cameroon, China, Kano, etc, you can as well ask me why not Onitsha? It's all business, there Igbos who site theirs in Igboland and those who site theirs at outside Igboland. Each to his own. Your analysis on money flow in the East is at best silly and lacking in basic understanding for me to even bother replying it. What do Yorubas do with their own money during transactions? They don't deposit them at banks? They carry them on their waists? Listen, there are more money in Circulation in the East because most businesses in the East are indigenous businesses. Unlike those in Lagos and Ogun axis which are mainly multinationals, who drain Yorubaland of money and remit home as profits, the businesses in the East are indigenous mainly, the money they generate are reinvested into the system in East, enabling saturation of the Eastern money circulation. |

Igboid: Dude, nobody gives a flying Bleep about how much money circulates in the SE quite frankly, because at the end of the day who e don epp? Upon your circulating money, your region is still the least productive (the ONLY viable vocation in the entire SE is TRADING -- FACT -- but even that is no longer as viable as it once was -- http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/06/rivers-state-others-have-overtaken-s-east-in-commerce-industry/ ), it is the least contributor to the national commonwealth, attracts the least FDI (www.businessdayonline.com/2015/02/ogun-ikeja-top-manufacturers-investment-destinations-in-2014), witnesses more brain-drain than any other, is the least populated in the country with her indigenes emigrating at the slightest opportunity, YET for whatever reasons best known to you, you feel this gives you some sort of bragging right?? Like seriously? If the SE was such an economically viable region, it would speak in her GDP (no single SE state appears on the top 10 list of Nigerians states GDP), her FDI, it would be one of the choice destinations of other Nigerians seeking better prospects. It's the same reason your successful businessmen (who for the most part made their millions outside Igboland, and who can blame them? They know where the real market and spending power is. Ask the foreigners shunning the region, Obi Jackson and the rest of 'em Heck, they all have access to the same data we all do and as real business men they gotta follow the money ) have to be CAJOLED and literally BEGGED to return home and invest . Dude, I can't fault your passion for your people/region, but there comes a time when you gotta tell yourself the naked truth. Your hype only exists in your deluded mind. Get over yourself already. 2 Likes |
