Should I Buy A Car? Please Advise Me by Manunitedblogge: 4:21pm On Aug 15, 2016
Hi all. I need your candid advise.

First a little about me

I am a Manchester United blogger and a big fan of the best club in the world ( the sleeping giants). I write about the Red devils for a living. I owe a big United blog which fetches me between 450k-2 million naira a month depending on traffic and the time of the year.

The issue

I recently got married with a beautiful baby girl. Now the issue is, I have never had a car, never had the need for it. But recently I started thinking of owing a car but can't bring myself to actually do it.

I work from home, I don't keep friends, the only time I go out is when I have to go to church. I am a very very indoor person. And my wife is the same way though she will soon start a business of her own.

Thing is, we are planning to relocate out of Nigeria so she can do her masters and I can get my first degree. We intend to leave within 18 - 24 months at most.

With all these, do you honestly think I need a car?

Friends and a few relatives are the main reason why the thought is even crossing my mind. Though my wife has mentioned it couple of times.

Please advise me.

I am 30 if that helps.

Why buy a car when there's no need for it tho having a car isn't a bad idea, but since you will soon travel out with your family and you guys don't have that need to own a car now then don't!

In this change & time, it's always wise to buy things you need and not things you want

We are to ask u....do u really need a car since ur travelling out?

I think u jus want someone to tell u why u dont need one n im here 4 u.

1. A car does not help ur business.

2. A car by default is a liability until u convert it to an asset.

3. A car will stress u n make u lose focus. eg fake friends n commitments.

4. It generates attractions. ...eg police, thief, lastma, frsc, vio etc.

5. Its value drops.

so mr blogger with these few points, I hope I have been able to confuse n not convince u dt....u dnt bloody need a car ....

The moment u pay for a car and documents given to u. It's value starts to drop astronomically. And from that particular moment u can't sell d car d same amount u bought it, and same day u start spending on it. Plate number, registration, u Guage A/C gas, check for wheel alignment, buy fuel at 145/liter, etc and d spending is ever continous.

So bro! weigh all these and see if it's a liability to u or an asssest.

buh if u still need a car, I hv a sienna for sell. check my profile for picx. That has been my lot since I got it. Spending and spending.

kindly invest the money you want to use in buying that car in a landed property.

Just because you think you would be out of the country in 18-24 months doesn't mean you shouldn't focus on the needs of your family now. The present is what you have control over. Perhaps having a small, simple car might make it easier for you or your wife to run errands for your newborn babygirl or an emergency might come up that requires you to have a car. I know you said you and your wife rarely go out because you're homebodies but you can't just consider you and your wife alone but your newborn and her own needs as well. All in all, make the best decision for the 3 of you, whether that means getting the car or not.

Well if it's a pressing need and I'm assuming it is since you said your partner has brough it up in the past then by all means get a car. 18-24 months is 2 years and you should get a car with good resale value probably a Toyota Camry.

Up United. I'm a strong United fan. I wish you the best. Cheers.
Re: Should I Buy A Car? Please Advise Me by Nyceguy92: 6:17am On Aug 16, 2016
My concern is not much about the expected depreciation in the value of the car as whether you need a car now.

Lack of a car does not affect your business plus you will soon l travel out so why think of buying one now?

The presence of a baby notwithstanding, you can still get around like many others who do not have cars do.
You should save your money for some other responsibilities.

My approach if I were you anyway.

hello, congrats on your success so far. Well, get a Naija used car that is clean and when you are about to leave the country, give it to your parents or anyone close to your heart.

May I have a chance for you to teach me how to tap into that niche? Willing to learn if you would help. I have IM experience so learning knew terminology wouldn't be hard for me.

Can I ask question here or your would prefer I PM you?

Thanks all for your advises. You are all appreciated.

I thought of this too but it is a serious waste of my money and if you know a little about my background, you will not advise me to buy it. I know my family well, once I do this, my responsibility tripples. And no, I am not the stingy type but I once assumed too much responsibility in my family and was severely dealt with. Buying them a car is good, but not now.

I rather secure my future and that of my immediate family and let anyone talk whatever.

As for teaching you. It won't be possible. Nigerian who I have taught have severely dealt with me by damaging my image. Not happening any more.

I will however answer as many questions as possible. On Nairaland, not outside it. I will post a step by step guide for you that I hope will sort you out. It is easier than you thought, whatever I leave out, you learn it on your own. But it is pretty simple.

Not a problem. I understand and I have been there before. I was even thinking you would ignore me and glad you didn't.

How do you generate traffic? Free or paid?

How do you monetize?what ad network do you use?

Do you do anything like SEO and backlink?

Thanks in advance.

Traffic is practically free. I paid to get into the scoopdragon network, it is easy to get into but the owner is a bloody racist hence you must Hide your IP when contacting him. He will charge you about 20 euros for 3 months. You will make that back within 2 hours.

Before you apply, make sure you have at last 60 quality articles on the site. You can write and back date articles 2 months back. Have a look at manunitedonlydotcom - not my site but I know the owner well.

I use adsense, mgid.com, wigetmedia.com and pixfuture.com ( they have become useless though ).

All you need is to write consistently per day 6 articles ( it is the maximum Scoopdragon will allow ) and should be your maximum and minimum if you want to do well.

This method will not fetch you 450k a month but you are certainly going to get $700 - $1000 a month. I also make money from people wanting to buy links on my site. I made $2000 across all my sites today on link deals. But off course you can't as your site will be new and you probably don't have the contacts I have.

My site is quite big and it is on newsnow.co.uk which is aside Google news the biggest aggregator but it takes tons of hard work to get on there as they want to see 6 months of quality posting from you. I said I own a United site, I lied, I have 3 united sites, ( bought a Chelsea one today for $2700 ), have 2 Arsenal sites, one general football site and will buy another very popular site for $7000 ( you must have read an article on that site if you visit newsnow.co.uk quite often. I have been online for 9 years. I took baby steps. Do the same.

Can't reveal my site unfortunately.

I know SEO in and out but hardly works with football, in fact it is a waste of time to want to rank a football site. What will you rank for? Cristian Ronaldo? Or latest football news? or latest Manchester United news? You stand no chance.

An example of a newsnow site is weallfollowunited.com. I know the Indian who has that site. He makes minimum of $100 per day. And to think he bought his sites ( five of them for $2100, he actually beat me to it as I wasn't having money due to having to pay hospital bills of my now late ex ).

I guess you have enough clues, without the hassles of a mentorship class but you can ask as many questions as possible.

Wow, thanks, I understand and appreciate. I knew SEO wouldn't work with such but was a little curious. Since you said the ads network you use have become useless, do you mean they no long pay well? or what did you mean when you say they have become useless? if they have become useless, what would you recommend I do get revenues?

Is Scoopdragon and newsnow the only place you get your traffic? what is the general name for a place like scoopdragon so I can use google to search for others that might help.

I believe you do re-write your articles from established sites right?

Thanks so much for your time.

Well, seems all your traffic comes from news aggregators right? since traffic problem is solved, it would remain the ad network for generating revenue. do you also use pop up and pop under?

I am very keen on ensuring I don't reveal my identity hence I can' give too much examples.

I didn't say the ad networks are useless, I said pixfuture is useless. Wigetmedia only yesterday gave me a $6000 advance payment apparently because they want to tie down my network of sites ( see screenshot). Such a company can't be useless can they?

Scoopdragon is a news aggregator. Just like Google news, yahoo news, bing news and newsnow. I have 2 sites ( chelsea and generic site) on Google news but never really worked on them. The Chelsea site because I want to give it to a mentee who ended up becoming unserious. The generic site because apart from yabbing GEJ and polithievians and football, I don't know jack and can't write jack and the site is more medical inclined. This means I can't tell you much about Google news but a look at flippa.com, flipperempire.com and other market places shows Google news are valuable. Better than newsnow but while fix what's not broken?

Yes, I write my articles from establish sources but headline is 90% the most important. If your English is not good, you get kicked out. Hence I have editors who edit 16 articles each and collect $800 a month. That way I ensure newsnow doesn't kick me out ( go to their publisher's page and read up about them).

Thanks re my ex. I moved on. Been a while now.

There is flippa.com but I don't go there. I know how to find easy preys. I contact webmasters that I know are struggling and buy them over. A nairalander is about to be bought. Sh thinks I bi oyinbo man whereas it is my editor fronting as me. She will collect 200k, think she cheated me, I will work on what she did not work on, recoup my investment within 5-7 days and have profit for as long as I don't break newsnow rules.

My methods comes with experience.

I think I gave enough. This thread can expose me.

Widget media is a pop under network. I also use themoneytizer.com and gunggo.com forgot to add. Moneytizer is the second best behind adsense. Wigetmedia the most business friendly, they give me advance whenever I need to buy a site but it is because I know the owner of the company and I have worked with him since he was working as employee with another company.

wow thanks for asking. Yes, I have gotten a domain name and remaining hosting. I should start by next month as I am currently fixing/ building a home office this month where I can work from. I will always run down to you when I need any info regarding this. Plus I have a pending 1Million naira fund which will make most of my works easy once I get paid.

I actually came here to read and refresh again and didn't know you even mentioned me. can I make as much as $50/day with scoopdragon? I am starting with that and will gradually move up from there. Will employ more hands as time goes on. Honestly, I am touched by you. cry cry cry cry Many Nigerians will not even do what you have done. I know this because I have been looking for much long term business and hardly does anyone talk about what they do to make money.

God bless you once again.

Good to hear back from you. Things moved faster for me than I expected. One of the companies I listed gave me a big advance and willing to give me more ( under contract which means I won't be able to use any other network for 3 years for my network of sites ) which has made it possible for me to acquire one plot of land and in few days will start building. I am wow by GOD. Certainly not my effort as I really do not deserve the grace I enjoy.

You can make $50 per day for sure. Just make sure you are not lazy. I write 24 articles per day myself and minimum is 200 words. It will have an effect on your back in the long term but you can get rid of that by exercising regularly. I can barely stand errect right now because I stopped going to the gym after I got married, I thought my wife will be a sort of a gym for me INSIDE ( LOL ).

You may not be able to write 24 articles a day. 10-12 is however doable and with that you should be able to make $50 a day. Note that I have been writing for 9 years and each time I look at my articles when I was first starting, there were mostly rubbish...but keep doing and you will get there.

Don't make money be your focus for now. Money will come. Do what I did. Buy to sell. I sold one of my newsnow sites yesterday for x3 of how much I bought it in August and this is despite making close to x2 of the capital. You may not have it so good yet because you don't know who you are to approach but build a site, push the revenue to $20-$50 per day. Do it consistently for 3-5 months. List it on flippa or mention me here and I will link you up. A site making $600 per month should fetch you at leas $4000. That gives you $2000 to invest on a bigger site that will make you more money and $2000 to spend on me, women, your family ( you won't go wrong here trust me ), or whatever you want.

Don't employ writers now. Not yet. DO IT YOURSELF. It is when you know that you will be able to hire writers and train them to your taste. Learn, learn and learn. It is important. And when you want to employ writers as you are just only on scoopdragon, employ Nigerians as they will be cheaper. Don't invest 1 million on this project. It will be a waste. 50k is enough.

Sign up with tigertech.net. They charge $8 per month and you can host as many sites as possible under that plan.

I am here to help but won't do it privately as I have had enough idiots saying rubbish about me.

OMG... OMG OMG bro. I am taking note of everything you have said. This is better than adsense in a way and much faster than SEO/Amazon Affiliates driven sites (i know you know those wink ) So much thanks man. I am following you right away. God bless you.

@amagunnerfan, concerning your building, please be careful with folks around here like they have stated. Someone mentioned abduwalecx and spyder888, yes, he is right about those bro. They are good. You should also be the one to run your stuff or look for someone you can trust. if you can see someone with same heart as yourself as I can see that you are very selfless. You do things for people without expecting anything in return. Find that kind of person if you must look for someone to run around for you. THEY ARE HARD to find and I doubt whoever you give that project to can handle without adding their own extra.

In my whole life, I have ONLY one person I can play such game with and the person isn't even my brother. This because I have known the dude for as much as 7 years. Last building renovation I wanted to do, I had to bring him all the way from Benin to Ogun state in order to prevent anyone from cheating me because I do not know anything about building lol. In fact the little I know about building was learnt on nairaland.

The way some people call figures here makes you so scared. In fact they gave an impression that to set a foundation, one need at least 1Million naira but Akeenbussy (he commented on your thread) made me aware that he did his foundation to lintel for less than 1Million and another guy showed his own building with similar result..

Like another advised you, where you want to build is very close to virtually all the building material you might want and therefore, it is very very cheap. Ewokoro is there for cement and so are other things.

It can be done bro. Just make sure that you are there when the foundation is being set, make sure it so solid. My mother used gravel, granite, sand for her foundation and decking. the plumber that work there last almost died while working at the decking to fix the DWC and other fittings. I felt sorry for him lol

Make sure the foundation is solid , has german flooring (mixed with granite, gravel, sand and cement), the decking is solid (same as foundation mixing) and the building has as much pillars as possible. you will not worry about collapse.

Do not be discourage, it can be done and forget those people calling figures that they do not even have in their bank account.
