tdayof: Even with their bias, they did not put the Gripen C/D ahead of the F-16 C/D or the Su-27. Never mind the later variants of the Falcon and the Flanker. 1 Like |

chinese8107: you sir are starting to give me migraine , say what why dont u inquire about imported chinese SU30 (not the reversed engineered /copied J11) and tell me weather it has full or half or zero FBW . also dont forget to ask weather the engines have FADEC . u first answer it then i will answer u questions otherwise dont bother me , i am very busy intelligence agent right now i am trying to infiltrate brazzers dot com 3 Likes |

chinese8107: what gibberish answer is this. i ask u a specific question , so give me a specific answer. let me repeat again does Chinese SU30MKK/MK2 have full FBW ? half FBW ? zero FBW ? (i believe in keeping all options open) also does Chinese SU30MKK/MK2 engines have FADEC answer it correctly and to the point or dont bother to ask me anything in the future and what the hell does FBW have to do with FADEC engine |

what the world is missing right now is a light single engine stealth fighter. optimized for primary interceptor and escort role with secondary CAS role maybe. files are pending in my country for building such an aircraft , it will ride on sub systems and technology from an existing aircraft to cut time and keep down costs. the defense ministry is likely to take a decision after consultation with the industry and relevant technical departments including the end user. lets see 3 Likes |

n 2004, German weapons manufacturer Diehl BGT Defence announced their own supercavitating torpedo, Barracuda, now officially named "Superkavitierender Unterwasserlaufkörper" ( English: "supercavitating underwater running body" ) . According to Diehl, it reaches more than 400 kilometres per hour (250 mph). the supercavitating torpedo--a rocket-propelled weapon that speeds through the water enveloped in a nearly frictionless air bubble--may render obsolete the old submarine strategy of sly maneuvering and silent running to evade the enemy. The superfast torpedo could be outfitted with conventional explosive warheads, nuclear tips or nothing at all--a 5,000-pound, 230-mph missile could do enough damage on its own. The hard part about building a rocket-propelled torpedo isn't so much the propulsion as clearing a path through the ocean. Water creates speed-sapping drag; the best way to overcome that drag is to create a bubble that envelops the torpedo--a supercavity. A gas ejected uniformly and with enough force through a cavitator in the nose of the torpedo will provide such a bubble, permitting speeds of more than 200 mph and a range of up to 5 miles (traditional torpedoes have slightly longer ranges, but lumber at only 30 to 40 mph). 2 Likes

nemesis2u:You know,nemeisis2u,we had this exact 'discussion,' or rather we suffered the sound of fanatical Grip fanboyism on the other thread. It got so bad I did exactly as you now leaving this comment: PLEASE REFRAIN FROM RESPONDING TO ANYTHING TO DO WITH GRIPS!https://www.nairaland.com/1386870/african-militaries-security-services-strictly/349#42362327 Southies, seriously! Its difficult to be taken as an adult when you insist on putting Grips and Su 30s on the same page much less the same sentence. Its like the breathless boxing fan matching up middleweights and lightheavies-the real boxing afficianado who threw his first punch at 6,was amateur throughout adolescence and tried out for the Olympics just looks at the dude sideways. Can we please drop this and move forward? In the name of Allah,Krishna,Rama,Shiva,Black Jesus and dog style Mary?? 1 Like |

nemesis2u: In our rush to cheer our fav FSBs,the mig 29S, Sus and a certain Swedish airframe we've overlooked our real needs.Imo,on this continent at least, what we really need is a certified mud mover,a twin turbo Pucara/OV 10 type CAS craft strictly to support the troops. You do know how critical the Pucaras were to the eventual Sri lankan victory in your parts. These are ideal platforms for the low AA/manpad environment warfare dominated by Shabaab/Boko haram/rebel type groups. Both those turbo props are long since retired without replacement but their advantages are still very real. Cheap to acquire. Cheap to fly and maintain and use rough airstrips-what's not to like? Your considered opinion would be much appreciated. 1 Like |

Patchesagain: Let start with Radar. Your Gripen uses PS-05/A multi-mode, pulse doppler radar and the JF-17 KLJ-7. Remember the PS-5 Pulse Doppler, X band radar, uses mono pulse and the JF-17 radar can also be operated on pulse doppler mode. KLJ Range While Search (RWS) Velocity Search (VS) Single Target Track (STT) Track While Scan (TWS) Dual Target Track (DTT) Situational Awareness Mode (SAM) Air Combat Mode (ACM)(with five sub-modes) Real Beam Map (RBM) Doppler Beam Sharpening (DBS) Ground Moving Target Indication/Ground Moving Target Track (GMTI/GMTT) Air to Ground Ranging (AGR) Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Sea Single Target Track (SSTT) Beacon (BCN) Gripen Radar. Target track modes LRS (Long Range Search) is used to detect and identify targets at high ranges. TWS (Track While Scan) allows to track targets and search for other targets. MPTT (Multiple Priority Target Tracking). PTT (Priority Target Tracking) allows accurate targeting and tracking Air-to-Air missiles. STT (Single Target Track). ACM (Air Combat Mode) is used for automatic target detection in dogfight. LRS (Long Range Search) is used for ground or sea target search at long distances. RA (Raid Assessment) ensures bombing. SMTI (Stationary and Moving Target Indication) is used for ground stationary or moving targets. GSPTT (Ground and Sea Priority Target Tracking). GM (Ground Mapping) ensures mapping of terrain under the aircraft for navigation purposes (e.g. terrain copying at night or adverse weather condition). HRM (High Resolution Mapping) ensures terrain mapping by synthetic aperture in order to gain high resolution pictures. RANGING high accuracy ground target ranging. Tell me how bad the JF-17 radar is ? Are you firing 8 missiles at once? The radar still remains combat okay. I need your opinion. 1 Like |

Japan says it scrambled fighter jets on Sunday after eight Chinese military aircraft flew between Japanese islands. The planes, thought to be bombers, surveillance planes and one fighter jet, flew along the Miyako Straits, between Okinawa and Miyakojima. China said about 40 of its aircraft had been involved in what it said was a routine drill. The planes did not cross into Japanese airspace, but the move is being seen as a show of force by China. map with zones It comes one week after Japan said it would take part in joint training exercises with the US navy in the South China Sea. Japan's top government spokesman said Japan would be watching China's military movements closely. Tokyo will "continue to devote every effort to vigilance and surveillance and rigorously enforce steps against intrusions into our airspace based on international law and the self-defence forces law", said Yoshihide Suga. The Miyako Strait is a strategically important 250km (155 miles) wide stretch of water south of Okinawa and close to Taiwan. It is also close to a group of islands in the East China Sea which are claimed by both Japan and China. Japan, which controls the islands, calls them Senkaku, while China calls them the Diaoyu Islands. |
