TheGoodJoe:Who told you Sanchez is not a striker? A man who has about 100 caps for his country, all played as a striker, most of those caps coming from great coaches like Marcelo Bielsa and Jorge Sampaoli, yet you think he's not a striker. What a joke |

edi287: I do not see the fact here. The same Giroud and Perez that Wenger chose to convert Sanchez to help the toothless attack. |

goldfish80: There you go again making statements I did not make. Sanchez played attack for Udinese, before Barcelona. We are talking in respect for Arsenal or do you want to say Arsene Wenger bought Sanchez to play as a point man. |

edi287:Iwobi wouldn't make City's first 11 either. That is also a fact. So before we all jump on the Iwobi is better than Kelechi bandwagon, let us remember who they have to bench. Iwobi is benching Ox, Kelechi will have to bench Aguero, hardly the same class of players,. Why are we even having this argument? Pitting brothers against each other...mtchew, please let's leave Iwobi and focus on the Kelechi vs Rashford arguments. Who's that person that said Iwobi will win CAF APOTY before Kelechi? Na you start this rubbish argument. |

goldfish80: You seem not to comprehend. Playing as a striker does not mean that is the players natural role. Sanchez is not a Natural striker but he can play as a striker. Last season, De Bruyne played as a striker for Manchester City in some games and did well. That does not mean he is a natural striker. Sanchez played upfront for Udinese when Di Natale injured. If not that injury, Sanchez will not strike. If Arsenal had sharp strikers, Arsene Wenger will not convert him to play there. |

Comparing Sanchez to Iheanacho is preposterous. Sanchez no be small pikin 4 this business. Someone who has... Abeg! abeg! Make we find something better talk. Iheanacho has not achieved anything yet as a professional footballer. Let us leave the lad before dem begin envy am, biko. 3 Likes |

goldfish80: "I think it is worth it to try as he has the quality to go behind," Wenger told Arsenal.com on the subject of a potential positional switch for the Gunners' number seven. You can see the words Wenger used, Think and try. He did not say, Sanchez is a natural striker and that is his role. He did the switch to help the weak conversion up front. I knew it will work because of his time at Udinese. In a match, he scored four goals. That did not mean that is his natural role. |

TheGoodJoe:At colo colo he played as a striker. While at Udinese, he played up top with Di Natalie in a twin attack setup. His 100 caps for Chile all came as a striker. Arsene wenger did not discover the wheel playing him there. By the way, just to digress. Some of you guys seem to suggest Iwobi has no completion at arsenal that's why he's making the first team. That's a big lie.! Alex didn't get to be a main stay in the arsenal set up on a platter of gold. The guy got his opportunity and sized it. He basically made himself undroppable by his performances. By this time last season, he was a nobody, he has grabbed his opportunity with both hands and he's not letting go. His being in the first team was never down to lacking competition. Saying he has no competition at a huge club like arsenal is way off the mark by a mile and frankly it's an insult on what the young man has achieved already in his career. 2 Likes |

TheGoodJoe: Bros, make una close that chapter, abeg. Telling us Iheanacho will make Arsenal first eleven is like stylishly rating Iheanacho ahead of Arsenal no 9 who happens to be Sanchez. Or will he bench Ozil? Those are the two spots available for Nacho. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 7:50pm On Sep 29, 2016 |
goldfish80: Off point. Did you read the Arsene Wenger post? He said he had the quality of playing behind the striker. The debate here is not Sanchez as a support striker but top striker. Did you watch Sanchez at Colo Colo? |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 7:52pm On Sep 29, 2016 |
forgiveness: You jumped in without understanding the debate. There was no stylish rating. The point is, Arsene Wenger converted Sanchez because the attack was weak. If he had Nacho, he would not do the conversion. Last season, Sanchez was one of the best players, if not the best player in the EPL. Arsene Wenger already had a role to get huge impact from him. 1 Like |

goldfish80: Point of Information, Sanchez rarely plays as the striker for Chile, thats why Vagas is there and Vagas has been their main striker since 2013, so that point of yours is invalid. And I have to go with the GoodJoe here, I mean Barca used to play Messi as their main striker when Ibrahimovic fumbled, and yes, Messi was outstanding there but when Suarez came, he still pushed out wide, Iheanacho will bench Sanchez, Sanchez will bench Walcott, simple. Iwobi is untouchable because if he is removed, the entire Arsenal engine falls to pieces, atleast until Ramsey comes back then we can argue if he can be removed, but now, Walcott will drop for any recognized striker 2 Likes 1 Share |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Mickael2(m): 8:08pm On Sep 29, 2016 |
TheGoodJoe: exactly. Actually I enjoy most of your writeups here and most times they are identical to what I have in mind so I end up not talking again, lol, but seriously, Arsenal have a great chance this year, they have 3 players who can power their midfield engine, so I don't think that fatigue and injury will hamper their chances this season, so if they fail, well Wenger has to be seriously questioned |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by goldfish80(m): 8:08pm On Sep 29, 2016 |
Mickael2:Where so you guys get these ideas from? Eduardo Vargas plays with Alexis up front when the they play a 3-5-2 formation. If they choose to play with a lone striker, alexis plays up front on his own.

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Mickael2(m): 8:10pm On Sep 29, 2016 |
forgiveness: He didn't say he will bench Sanchez, he just said he will alter the formation. De Bruyne is not benching Silva at Man city, the coach just altered the formation to accommodate the two of them which is what will happen with Nacho and Sanchez, thats the point 1 Like |

goldfish80: you are using a written formation to judge? Well Messi is registered as a LWF for Barca but where do you see him most of the time? You have to watch this games to understand that Sanchez is the member of the pair who drops to midfield to collect passes straight from the midfielders and feed to Vargas, I wil recommend the Brazil vs Chile game at the world cup and also the Chile vs Argentina games at the two previous Copas, watch them and check Sanchez's position. Sanchez is the SS there, but at arsenal he is the lone CF, that's two extremely different positions and thats the GoodJoe's point, he is adjusting to it 1 Like |

Mickael2: You are right. Apart from quality, the team needs to stay fresh all through the season. So the midfield is key and with the quality on the bench. I see Elneny as a good player too. I am scared of you guys. The pace is frightening. 1 Like |
