All the governors of the five South-East states Thursday boycotted the activities lined up to mark this year’s Igbo Day celebration.

In the same vein, none of the National Assembly members, state lawmakers, political and religious leaders from the zone attended the event.

This might not be unconnected with the leadership tussle which had polarised the Ohanaeze Ndigbo for the past two years.

However, at the celebration, the Federal Government was called upon to release the leader of Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally. They said his continued incarceration may cause more damages in the South-East zone of the country.

The President General of Ohanaeze, Chief Gary-Enwo Igariwey, whose address was read by the Deputy President General, Sir O.A.U Onyema, urged the Federal Government to obey the order of a High Court which earlier granted Kanu bail.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo rose from her last NEC meeting to reiterate her position and appealed that Nnamdi kanu should be released unconditionally from detention.

“The issue had earlier been resolved and communicated after our last IMEOBI meeting of 5th November, 2016.

“Ohanaeze feels that a critical look at the reasons why the young man was agitatiting without arms or elements of violence will help put thing straight in our county. We urged the Federal Government to re-evaluate the circumstances which made the court of law to earlier grant him bail and see to which extent it can be useful in putting things straight.

“Nnamdi Kanu’s incarceration till now does not seem to be palatable and does not seem to be passing a positive message.”

On the rumoured sale of national assets, the organisation called on the Federal Government to reconsider its earlier stand if it is true, saying that selling the assets built and developed by previous governments in the country might not be the best way tosucceed in an enterprise.

“It also expressed dismay over the dilapidated nature of federal roads in the South- East region, noting that virtually all the roads in the area had become impassable.

The FG should obey the courts or better still stop wasting tax payers money going to court if they are not ready to obey it

The disunity among Igbo people is their undoing.
Everyone one of them is just after his own personal interests.

Biafra would not even be attainable in ten years time. Joblessness is root of all these unnecessary protest.

By the way where is that guy Mark Zuckerberg gave assignment to as per the publicity of Biafra in Facebook was he able to beat the deadline.
