My darling Rangers are Nigerian champions again!
After much heart breaks, daylight robberies, gutter and disgusting football politics down the years. Rangers have finally wiped away our tears am still in total ecstacy my beloved team have mounted the podium again.
Though the nasty injury to Ifeanyi Egwim is a bitter pill to swallow. I felicitate with him and wish him the quickest of recoveries.
Totally devasted for the lad.
Up Up Up RANGERS!
NEVER SAY DIE!!!

Well, I know Pep is still the man. A loss was inevitable anyway. A loss was always going to come....

Man City is still in transition under Pep as we both know.

I don't expect Pep to change his philosophy. It is a winning philosophy and the apex of the modern game which can be perfected endlessly.

Fernandinho struggled coz he sat slightly deeper than usual in this pep system for the Spurs game.

Otamendi, Fernando, and Kolarov cracked under high pressure.

The Cityzens will back bounce back and fast..... Nice to see Iheanacho come in and feel the heat also.... smiley He had a nice shot on target from a tight angle. Nacho is just born for the Pep system and all the various tactics that go with the system.

Though there was a point at which Nacho fluffed his shot... Lol... Guess the tension got to him too... wink

But his movements are always in synergy with the "Central motors" of pep's system at City... (De bruyne, Silva, Gundogan, Nolito, etc)

Pray he keeps up with his improvements.... smiley

If you watched a lot of Guardiola's games at Germany, you will see that a lot of teams pressed Bayern Munich more than what we saw today at Tottenham. It is a growing team and some of the players can not deal with the routine.

Fernando, Fernandinho, Kolarov and Otamendi are finding it difficult to keep up with the quick decisions required for the system.

If you watched closely, Claudio Bravo dealt very well with the high pressing of Tottenham. Players with similar qualities will come in. Some from the academy. Some will be bought. When Sane and Gundogan came in, we were more fluid and created loads of chances.

Even though Nacho did not score, he showed us what we expect in City in the next few months. With Sane, Nacho and Gundogan coming in, we got control of the game and got chances to score.

We are still in transition and very soon, younger players will feel almost every position. Now, I want Dahoud of Gladbach more than ever. The system needs tireless runners. Kolarov looks tired. Same with Fernandinho. They are working hard but I think they do not suit perfectly. I also hope we seal the Toni Kroos deal. We need someone who keep control at the back under pressure like Bravo. Bravo was composed all through and played his game.

Sad Chidi Nwakali is not here to help. His tiring runs would help the team a lot. I wonder what City are doing to sort his work permit issues.

That is why Guardiola refused to sell him. He has a high work rate and he is fast. Guardiola's system favors players that work hard on the pitch. If you watch Fernandinho, Kolarov and Fernando, they struggle to keep their stamina.

Dahoud is 20 years, about Chidi's age and he is already one of City's top target. We need runners like that. I noticed this from the Swansea game.

CHELSEA’S MIKEL DISMISSES INJURY CLAIMS

The 29-year-old midfielder has revealed that he is
fully fit for the next week’s World Cup qualifier
against the Chipolopolo.

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has poured cold
water on speculation that he is unfit to feature in
the upcoming 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifier
against Zambia.

The Super Eagles’ skipper is yet to play for
Antonio Conte’s Blues this season – which has
fuelled assumption that he is nursing an injury
and would not be available to face Wedson
Nyirenda’s side in Ndola.

And the 58 times capped international has
laughed off claims that he won't be suitable for
cracker on October 9.

“I don’t know where the story about my being
injured came from. I have no injury,” Mikel told
the NFF website.

“All the other players and myself are fit and ready
and we are determined to start the World Cup
race on a winning note.”

Meanwhile, technical adviser Gernot Rohr and his
assistants [Jean Luc and Nabil Trabelsi] landed in
Abuja on Sunday as preparations kicked off for
the crucial tie.

Players are expected in camp as from Monday
with training sessions scheduled for morning and
evening each day before departure to Ndola by
chartered flight on Friday.

The three-time African kings must negotiate their
way past Cameroon, Algeria and Zambia to qualify
for the 2018 Fifa World Cup Russia.

He doesn't have to tweak his philosophy. Tactics is what he can tweak. Arsene Wenger and Marcelo Bielsa Guardiola understudied, will rather die than change their philosophy.

But Arsene has changed.. They have a player like Giroud now that they can float a long ball too and change the style when they are chasing a goal. Before, Arsenal would pass sideways till the game ends.

Even with Giroud in the side, nothing have changed. They still play sideways passes, tippy tappy . They had the least crosses of all the premier league teams last season.

My brother, Obinja is a precious talent. I still say he is one of the best midfielders of Nigerian descent alive at the moment.
Most of the highly rated European players, commanding huge transfer fees are no match for the abilities of Obinja. For the benefit of those who haven't watched him play, imagine a Kevin De Byrne and Santi Cazorla rolled into one.
Am not mincing words, he is a super super super talent.

The first time I saw him play a couple of years ago, after he transfered from a local club inter to Rangers, I was so blown away by his talent that I walked down to the dog out and squeezed a few bucks to his hands and told him how well I enjoyed watching him. A very humble lad.
With a few weeks of conditioning, this guy can make Barcelona match day team sheet.
Gernot Rohr will do well to extend an invite to him to boost his profile, this will put him on the radar of decent European team.
He is the future of Naija football, in my honest opinion

Alright sir but u missed oo. All the same, am happy u saw that moment of brilliance from our midfield wizard. Boy is skillful, brilliant on and off the ball, tricky and energetic to say the least.

Remember he was on the brink of joining either Atalanta or Ajax before that career threatening injury. I believe he's done his chances of joining a European top team a lot good with his displays this season.

I wanna see him playing in Spain come January.

Troost won man of the match in Norway today in his team 1:1 draw.

Omeruo was part of the defence torn to shreds 5:0 by Istanbul basaksehir.

Ndidi played another 90 minutes for Genk in their 2:1 win. This man is very rarely substituted in games.

Chidiebere Nwakali played again, good shift but his team lost again.

Simon and Esiti were on from the start but Gent succumbed to a 1:0 loss. Rabiu Ibrahim was on the bench.

Elderson was on the bench for Standard liege. The two left backs invited was not getting gametime.

Kayode scored the winning goal in Austria.

Ideye scored in Greece.

Rashidi ahead of Kanu,r u really saying this 4 d second time, ahead of someone with two world trophies on his cabinet,2 APOTY awards, attained the highest level of club football glory, where is Yekini's CL trophy, where is Yekini in world football to Kanu's 6th position in 1996.
he was there in our greatest football conquest till date. Atlanta '96 Olympic gold is still our greatest moment in football history irrespective of what u may think.

Kanu's achievements dwarf that of Yekini's not taking anything away from Yekini,he merits his legendary status in our football folklore but compared to that of Kanu's,no one argues that but u.
In fact,I have never witnessed any argument on who is greater between Kanu and Yekini.
So drop this kind,it's getting 2much of u.

Which two World trophies? Do you mean under 17 world Cup for the Ta-Ta?

Did Ronaldo de lima win CL?, did Pele win CL?, did Maradona win CL?.did Roberto Bergio win CL?, did Lothar Matthaus win CL?, etc but these are all Legends for their respective countries.

Because you don't know about Nigerian football club history doesn't mean some are ignorant. Maybe indomie needless generation does not know.

Rashidi Yekini has brought glory to Nigeria not Arsenal or Ajax.

Besides, Finidi George was far better and more important than Kanu Nwankwo in that competition and even won AFCON. He started in all the Ajax games except one.

Is Finidi not better than him?

What impact did Kanu Nwankwo bring to that team?

Pele never won any FIFA individual awards too but he is still a Legend for Brazil.

Olympics is an under age competition meant for TA-TAS and it is not a FIFA recognised competition. Sorry.

Tell me what glory Kanu Nwankwo brought to Nigerian football at the highest level. Thanks

Victoria Setubal is one of the biggest foreign club Yekini played for in his active days, and has been supportive of any move to immortalise their former hero who they fondly referred to as ‘Black god’.

City were doing the same thing over and over again even when it was not working.

When Inter won the champions league, they beat Barca in the semis, watch that game again, Pep needed a different approach to get a result. Even if the game went on for 5 hours, Barca would have struggled to score.

The point is that , there is no plan B with pep. When it is not working, switch it a bit.

I fully agree with this. He just wouldn't change the approach even when it's clear his system is not effective in a particular game

Russia 2018 World Cup: NFF can fire me if
Eagles fail to qualify – Rohr tells FIFA

Perhaps for the first time in many years of
engaging foreign coaches, the Nigerian football
governing body may have signed what looks a
favourable contract.

The 63-year old Franco-German coach of the
Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has revealed to a FIFA publication, “FIFA 1904” in its current edition that his contract is tied to the success of Nigeria qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.

“If the team doesn’t make it to Russia, the FA can terminate my contract on the spot. That was the agreement. It’s worth the risk, though”, the coach told Alan Schweingruber who conducted the interview in Cap Ferret, France.

The bid to save the contract through its
anticipated terminal date in 2018 begins this
week end with a Nigerian away fixture with
Zambia.

“FIFA 1904” had asked the coach for the terminal date of his contract with the NFF. The coach responded: “In theory, at the end of 2018”.

He went on to explain: “If the team doesn’t make it to Russia, the FA can terminate my contract on the spot. I wouldn’t get any compensation. That was the agreement. It’s worth the risk, but I don’t want to think that far ahead. I believe we will qualify.”

When we talk about Nigeria's greatest players, we are not talking strictly of players wearing the green white green but great Ambassadors of Nigerian football.

In 1996, FIFA recognised Kanu as one of the best players in the World. He was among the top ten players. This was due to his contribution for Club and Country that year.

If FIFA recognised his Atlanta contributions, how do you guys want us to downplay it. If I remember correctly, the best two teams of the year in 1996 were the Nigerian Olympics team and Ajax team. Kanu Nwankwo was in both.

Bros, make i no lie. I only switched to the Rangers game at half time of Burnley vs Arsenal. By then it was already 2-0. I saw the replay of that Nwobodo's assist.
That boy's agent needs to help that boy to Europ ASAP. Such raw talent.

That match left me sad, I saw the horrific tackle that led to Egwim's broken leg. The poor boy who score the hattrick could barely put himself together. We need to clean up our game it is just too rough.

Kanu is larger than life, u go to London they love Kanu, u go to Kaduna the same thing. U can stay up and crunch numbers but still that doesn't change the fact that the man is a legend.

And who is disputing he is not a 'Legend'?

What we are saying is Rashidi Yekini is more legendary than Kanu Nwankwo when it comes to Nigerian football. Simple!

Kanu Nwankwo was in both.

fifa has always been biased in giving individual awards based on club form than country.
For example, George Weah came second behind Ronaldo in the 1996 award purely based on his exploits with Ac Milan, whatever he did with Liberia was not in the blue print atall obviously because war-torn Liberia, I strongly doubt played any international game durring that period.

Kanu didn't get on the top 10 list because of his Olympics form, but because of his exploits at ajax. Ask yourself this question, had kanu been playing for Slovan liberec and he won the Olympics gold medal, will he have been considered in a FIFA merit list of top 10 world best in 1996? I need an honest answer

Tottenham schooled Manchester City yesterday and the person Orchestrating the game was Dele Alli.

Soon, we will lose better ones due to na my brother system of selecting players.

I agree but u can't be blind to the fact of how competitive it was in 96.
Obviously it was down to the emerging talents Brazil and Argentina presented at the tournament more than anything else.
