Its not only in Abeokuta you can brown roofs, the thing is scattered all other South West. They wouldn't renovate their villages houses instead they will call it "PRESERVATION OF CULTURE"
Even houses where students live in Ojere are all made roofed with that out-dated thing
we blacks are always pursuing modern things while the white who create modern things are trying to preserve their old things. why will I change my brown roof if its not leaking?

Why is your complexion uneven. Did you use hypo plus sandpaper to bleach?

Only god knows how horrible your knuckles and other parts of your hideous body will be.

Last I heard, bleached people usually have very bad body odour. I can perceive your stench from here...

Brown roofs is a sign of early civilization, we preserve it intentionally. The fact that those buildings are still standing up till now, tells a lot.

Besides Prague, in Czech Republic preserves their historic buildings

But i don't expect you to understand sha, coz there's nothing to preserve in a mat made Hut
you are right jare, they will watch game of thrones and commend it's ancient view, they don't realise that those people preserve and maintain their ancient structures.

The question is; why are there still rusted, brown roofs in that area when they can all be changed to aluminum roofs. In other areas of Nigeria, modern aluminum roofs are the norm. In Yoruba land on the other hand, they're still stuck in the middle ages. They are not moving with the trend.

Is it a sign of widespread penury in the area or what? Your guess is as good as mine.

they are very sensible people, you don't waste money to change what has not been broken!

Why not change it to a newer one n still preserve the building. Its only a matter of time before it will begin to leak and damage the entire structure(walls, paintings, designs, everything).Leave the structure, change d roof.SIMPLE!!!

paints and designs get damaged, it does not matter If roof leak or not, house with modern roofing get repainted overtime
rain does not damage the structure of a house, unless it's a flood, otherwise those who left their house uncompleted for years will have to pull it down for reconstruction.
Most of those roofs have been their for a long time and no leaking, since I was born, my grandfather's brown roof has not leaked once!
your reasons are not tenable.

and if your issue is aesthetic, beauty is in the eyes of the build-holder and not the visitor. you the visitor does not determine what the householder call beautiful.

like I said before, it's you that could not preserve your heritage(if you really had one) that think those that preserved theirs are forming 007. They like their history, their own self made housing technology, their heritage, it is not forming.

you don't know what I wish for, I wish for a situation where modern and ancient exist side by side, just like the modern facilities and ancient feel of olumo rock.

lagos is a city, an enclave of divers cultures and people, both local and foreign. Thus it's houses must reflect an agreed pattern amongst it's residence who come from different parts of the world.
go to most countries in Europe, they have places which they encourage preservation and others which they encourage constant change through developments and innovation. you can't expect a one story building in manhattan to still stand cus it's ancient

look at pictures of Venice, it's still richer that any city or town or village in your region

Besides the so called brown roofs aren't leaking, if you enter some of the houses, you won't want to leave there
