Yekini started playing in 1985

Two different generations. In 1994, Yekini was already in his 30s. Finidi was a young player and the tide was changing for Africa players.

I think the idea of putting European titles side by side is not a fair assessment. Yekini scored 90 goals in 114 games for Setubal. That is close to messi/ronaldo standard. He was obviously better than the league but none of the big teams in Europe came for him. Kanu was never that prolific.
