I am about applying for a visa with my wife and 2 kids for Christmas holiday. I applied in 2010 alone and then I was working but got denied. Now I have a business of my own with a couple of investments too.

I have traveled to Schengen this year, spent two weeks and recently just got back from Dubai with my family this August after 10 days vacation .

I asked someone today how to go about applying for the visa , I was told I need to fill phone number for someone I know in the states in the form as my contact in the states and not compulsory I stay with the person in the states.

I want to know if I can apply same way I applied for the Schengen , I mean just with hotel reservation and flight as I have no direct relative in the states I will fill as my contact.

Also I will like to know about form filling and getting appointment for 4 of us too.

You do not need anybody in the USA.
It is quite normal to use Hotel for a holiday visit.

You need to prove to the visa officer that you will return home after your visit.
And that you have suitable finances.
Your visits to Dubai and Shengen are good evidence as long as you returned on time.

My firm recently became partners with a US Based Firm and part of the terms of the agreement include getting their Technical Hands Trained and Certified by the later.

A top Management Executive (a camouflage name for the Owner) of my Firm has a property just a couple of minutes drive away from the Training Location (a 20,000 square feet service shop in Texas).

I have already completed and submitted the DS 160 Form (where I chose my boss as my contact in the US) but I am having a double mind.
My boss or The Company inviting me for a Training Who is my contact person?

You go through the form and fill it truthfully you don't have to know anybody in the U.S to travel to the U.S by the way how many vacation are you going for in a year? You told us 2 this year I think that maybe an issue with the V.O I'm just saying oooo I'm not the V.O.

It means you don't have strong ties abroad (outside of the US) that will compel you to leave the US after your planned trip if issued the visa. Seems you will stay put in the VO's mind-eyes!

it simply means your ties to Nigeria are not strong enough for them to issue a tourist visa for now until changes in your circumstance.

What has changed since your last application? In my opinion the trips to SA and dubai was a ploy to get some travel history and may not impress the vo. After having travelled 2ice in a year, you are rushing back to the embassy? Why? Do u not have jobs? Think about it

A visit visa is just that, you can not do any kind of work.

You need a transit visa if you are going to leave the airport arrival area.
Like if your flight has a long stopover.

Best to check with the airline directly.

Yeah, I found out from their site that transit visa is not needed for Nigerians with valid US visa.

I've read the whole thread but I've not come across the question i asked. I and my wife want to embark on a 5 days vacation to Ghana for a traveling experience ( i read here that having a traveling experience is an added advantage too) our daughter wont be following us cos her passport is not ready. If this is done and we decide to apply for a US visa, wont the officer ask us the reason why we did not take our daughter with us for the vacation at Ghana? Wont he use it against us

Just by the way, how reasonable is the reason your daughter is not traveling with you to you yourself? No issues anyways! FYI too, Ghana travel isn't a weighty history. Okay, bye!

The Visa officer was not satisfied that he would return on time.
Even with family and job.

The Visa officer assesses the person on sight at the interview and if something feels or looks wrong then it's rejection.
Very difficult to point to one factor in his case.

You should be able to explain why she is not traveling with you and she's also a tie for you as well.
