Abrogated Verses In The Quran. Question For Muslims. by malvisguy212: 10:24pm On Oct 07, 2016 |
To abrogate means to abolish, annul, rescind, repeal or revoke. The concept of abrogation in the Qur’an is that Allah reveals a verse in the Qur’an that invalidates an earlier verse in the same Qur’an. This may lead to numerous difficulties for the readers of the Qur’an. if the Qur’an is the genuine Word of God, then the commandments written in it must by no means be abrogated. Its contents must remain intact and its messages unchanged. And amazingly Allah agrees: Surah 6:115: “The word of your Lord is complete, in truth and justice. NOTHING SHALL ABROGATE HIS WORD. He is the Hearer, the Omniscient.” However, note the contradiction in surah 2:106: Surah 2:106:“Whatever verse WE SHALL ABROGATE , OR CAUSE (thee) TO FORGET, we will bring a better one than it, or one like unto it. Dost thou not know that God is almighty ? ” (Sale) This lead to so many question like : 1. How can a Muslim know what is abrogated and what is not? 2. Since the abrogated verses still exist in the Qur’an, what is the use of these abrogated verses for Muslims now? 3. Would not this pose a problem for the ordinary readers of the Qur’an to verify what is abrogated and what is not? 4. How would an average Muslim know what is abrogated and what is not, when even scholar disagree among themselves as to the numbers of verses that are abrogated? 5. Would not this then mean that the Qur’an requires someone of a higher scholastic level to understand it and therefore it is not meant for the average Muslim? 6. Why replace one verse with another if they are similar. If the Qur’an is the Word of God, should it not be perfect from the start? How can one perfect verse be better than another perfect verse? So, how can Allah claim to substitute his perfect verse with something better? How can a divinely perfect revelation be improved upon? Caliph Umar similarly stated the following: “Two men read a Surah which the apostle of God had taught them, yet one night they rose up to pray BUT THEY FAIL TO REMEMBER one word of it. The next morning, they went to the apostle of God and related it to him. He told them, ‘ IT IS ONE OF THOSE WHICH HAVE BEEN ABROGATED, thus, forget about it …”’ (Refer to the Itqan, 3:74). Wow, Can you believe this? Not only is the forgetfulness of the Prophet is taken as an indication of abrogation by Allah but even the forgetfulness of ordinary Muslims were considered as such. What happened to the written verses. Were they also made to disappear by Allah? Does not this prove that much of the Qur’an was not put into written form during the time of Muhammad? 3 Likes |

Surah 16:101: “And when We put a revelation in place of (another) revelation, – and Allah knoweth best what He revealeth – they say: Lo! thou art but INVENTING Most of them know not.” (Pickthall) This Qur’anic verse shows that a number of people living during the time of Muhammad were troubled at this concept of abrogation. In response to the claim that new revelations superseded the older ones, they said to Muhammad, “Thou art but inventing most of them "And they are absolutely right. Surah 13:39: “Allah makes to pass away and establishes what He pleases, and with Him is the basis of the Book.” (Shakir) If Allah in the Qur’an manifests himself as the arbitrary god who acts as he pleases without even honoring his own sayings, then he is acting in a way that is totally foreign to the truths taught in the Holy Bible. God does not change and neither does his teachings. Every instance of abrogation is a problem for the doctrine of an unchanging God. Malachi 3:6 “For I am the Lord, I do not change..." 1 Like |

Muslims always run away from this particular subject because it clearly exposes Muhammed as a fraud. The abrogations are just to many especially as he becomes more powerful. Allah seems to be in such a hurry to please him. From allowing him to sleep with any slave despite complaints from his wives to allowing him take his sons wife for himself. Mohammeds invented allah seems to be very immoral and encouraged Mohammeds perversion. 5 Likes 1 Share |

mustymatic:There are big difference between made and form, The term "made" is translated from Hebrew word # 6212, which basically means "to PREPERE,"and the word "formed" is translated from Hebrew word #3335, which means "to form, FASHION, frame." Example : Isaiah 45:18, "For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that FORMED the earth AND MADE it;" In other words, God "prepared" every living thing in Genesis 1, but did not actually bring it into physical form until Genesis 2! Genesis 2:4-5, "This is the book of the generation of heaven and earth, when they were MADE, in the day in which the LORD God MADE the heaven and the earth, and every herb of the field BEFORE it was in the earth [before it was formed], and all the grass of the field BEFORE IT SPRANG UP [before it was formed], for God had not rained on the earth, AND THEIR WAS NOT A MAN TO CULTIVATE IT [why was there not a man to cultivate it? Because no man was yet formed!]. " "Not a man to cultivate it" this imply the herb and animal were MADE before man, But when we come to the "forming" of them, we see that, at Genesis 2:7, Adam was "formed" before the animals, then, at Genesis 2:19, the animals were "formed." Then, at Genesis 2:20, Adam named the animals. And lastly, at Genesis 1:22, Eve was "formed" from Adam's rib. Now, back to topic, if you cannot answer my question, why are you a muslim ? 1 Like 1 Share |

malvisguy212:All this your form and prepare is utter nonsense When your mother prepares food it means she makes it I'll make it snappy [b] Abrogation (Arabic Naskh) is a topic that is dealt with in the Sciences of the Qur’an. Abrogation is defined as the lifting of a shari`ah ruling because of the evidence of a later shari`ah ruling. Abrogation plays an essential role in the history of religion in the sense that the shari`ah brought by our Prophet Muhammad (Allah bless him and grant him peace) abrogated all previous shari`ahs. But there is also abrogation within Islam as well, when previous rulings are nullified by rulings that come later. A noteworthy example of this is the gradual prohibition of wine. It was first revealed in the Qur’an the prohibition of preforming the prayer while intoxicated: “O you who have believed! Do not approach the prayer while you are intoxicated…” (al-Nisa’, 43). Later, the ruling of this verse was abrogated by a complete prohibition of wine altogether: “O you who have believed! Wine and gambling . . . are of Satan’s handwork, so shun them so that you may be successful. Satan wants but to place between you enmity and hatred with wine and gambling and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah and from the prayer. Will you not then abstain?” (al-Ma’ida, 90-91) Among the wisdoms of abrogation was bringing ease by introducing rulings that were appropriate for the different states of the Muslims during the times of revelation. When the Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace) first brought the religion, it was not easy for people to leave their previous beliefs and traditions. Allah sent the guidance and the rulings step-by-step, with His divine care and concern, gradually purifying and raising the ummah until the religion was complete [/b] The new testament as the christians claim is the perfect example of abrogation of the old 1 Like |

mustymatic:Which of the verses are abrogated ? The quran was not reveal in chronological order, how can you know which verse is replace ? Moreover, early Islamic records show that many of the Surahs (Chapters) were not revealed to Muhammad at one specific instance but were delivered piecemeal over a period of time. The Islamic records also show that some later verses were added to earlier Surahs under the direction of Muhammad. One example of the disorderly chronology is that Surahs 2:193, 2:216 and 2:217 were revealed at the beginning of Muhammad’s arrival in Medina. And it took another SIX years to reveal Surahs 2:190, 2:191 and 2:192. Yet Surah 2:193 (which was revealed six years earlier) was inserted to follow Surah 2:192. How could it then be known which contradicting verses were the more authoritative? Without context and chronology, the “abrogated” and “abrogator” verses render the entire Qur’an irrelevant. For example, if one verse encourages slavery and another condemns it, which is to be believed and followed? 3 Likes |

If you are arguing like this as a professional, you will hardly win any case. 1) The topic for debate is about NASKH, an Islamic concept of 'Allah revealing a verse of the Quran which abrogate an earlier verse of the same holy Quran' 2) The NASKH has nothing to do with the Bible or Christianity. 3)Argue your case, solely on the evidence provided, not based on extraneous topic/ issue. 4) It is wrong to assume that any critique of the Qur'an must be a 'Christianity vs Islam' comparison/ contest mustymatic: |
