Nigerians Are Lazy, Too Dependent On Government - Kachikwu by conductor1: 12:06pm On Oct 09, 2016 |
The honorable state minister for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, on Saturday blasted Nigerians for being "helplessly dependent on government institutions" and also for being "nostalgically lazy people." Kachikwu was speaking at the 2016 convocation ceremony of Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) students at the PTI Conference centre, Effurun Delta State on Saturday 9 October 2016. His words: "Change is not all about budgeting. It is about individuals and how they run their lives and their communities. It is only in these sequential changes that you find a change that will happen to Nigeria. "We will come out stronger. These are troubling times and we are encouraged by the Federal Executive Council that troubling times demands very noble creativity. "I am happy that the president, though he does not talk much, is spending a lot of time wondering what went wrong since he left office and propelled by this nostalgia, he is putting in place solid foundation to ensure that we do not go back to what we are facing today when we get out of it. "Although it might not be visible today, please bear with us. We are working round the clock to make a difference." Speaking on the issue of Niger Delta militants sabotaging the Nigerian economy, Emefiele added: "What the president does not want to do is to place the whole dialogue process in the hands of those that failed four months ago. "I have sent him a short and long term solution, which include engagement and inclusiveness of communities." 1 Like

True. We want government to provide us with cheap dollar yet we refuse to produce and export to earn Forex for ourselves. I am still waiting to see what magic our government will do to supply cheap dollars to over 200,000,000 Nigerians even if Oil rises to 200usd per barrel Nigerians only understand the language of force. 1. Force people to pay tax 2. Force corporate entities to be involved in one or any form of export either by financing or execution else seize to operate Government should do the above and Nigeria will become the next China 2 Likes 1 Share |

Upon collection of tax, Nigeria mineral resources (crude) sold and irrelevant day robbery by the government on us(the citizenry) promising enabling environment for only God knows when. No access to road, to move goods, No light to attempt creativity on technology, No security on farmlands to protect crops from fulani herdsmen, No portable water to drink (if not for individual boreholes) No hope for youths, Universities are free yet we pay, Education is growing dead Politicians are junketting, They are our future leaders They decide who 'Eats" and who don't ...you open that widemouth to say we are dependent on government. "If we don't, who will?" Apart from expiration of tenure and judcial means, what other way can we use to dislodge Nigeria looters of their positions? 8 Likes |

"Buhari and his cabinet are blame shifters" Bugatie You guys in govt are so lucky, a country where the masses provide their own water(borehole), electricity(generators), security(street and community vigilantes), and other basic necessities of life.... You open your mouth to term the masses lazy. Except laziness now has a new meaning, Nigerians are not lazy, Mr Minister! 11 Likes 2 Shares |

i doubt he actually said that... but if he did... how wouldn't people depend on the government when the government controls the resources that can put real development in the hands of the people? so it is now laziness for citizens to ask for power, good roads, security & conducive business environment/policies? of the 4.5m people who have lost their jobs in the last one year because of silly & confused government policies, how many were FG or state government workers? of the over 2000 companies & small businesses that have shut down, how many were government funded? 2 Likes |

What is this idiot talking about. On one hand he's right on the other dead wrong. What does government at any level really do for us. The government most incompetent organization in country. People in Nigeria build and fortify their own houses, provide their own water from bore hole, source their own electricity, buy their water for private hands and protect own farm land. The only thing we don't do is build roads. What service does government really provide? Nigerians only issue is they're addicted to failure trust in political hacks. Instead free market solutions, getting government out running business. All we need is economic freedom, private property rights, rule of law and access to credit and we never ask government for anything. 3 Likes |

I don't agree with you sir! Nigerians are very hardworking people. The problem is that we have a lot of unresolved issues concerning our nationhood. Issues like the faulty constitution we have, issues of a section of the country trying to dominate leadership of the country, while a significant others are constantly marginalized. All these issues result to lack of PATRIOTISM, and without patriotism we can never have a great nation. If we do not resolve these issues and create a better nation where everyone will be happy to identify as citizen and work towards building a great nation, then we will make no progress in our quest for a better Nigeria. 1 Like |
