I read the team have finally been paid match bonuses for the luxembuorg and Mali friendlies plus the Tanzania game. Also, they have been refunded the money for their air tickets for today's game BUT ARE STILL OWED MATCH BONUSES AND MORE FOR THE "BATTLE OF NDOLA" (TODAY'S GAME). Africanfootball.com carried the news. Still subject to full confirmation from my angle.... Source: http://africanfootball.com/news/653212/Victorious-Super-Eagles-get-their-cashfinally 2 Likes |

Just how I like it... We face them in a double header next year in the week of Aug.28 and Sept.2nd... We will be ready when the Lions come calling. A couple of international breaks lies between post-algeria game and August 2017.... Right now, we got Mahrez and co. to tame and take 3points off. #SuperEaglesInFlight jotey: 1 Like |

Well said, Iwobi and Iheanacho are sure starters. Ighalo will continue as no.9... Victor Moses will walk into the starting 11 and that will leave the likes of Ahmed Musa, Simon Moses and Isaac Success on the bench. Lawd!!! What a bench... !!!!! Also, Etebo won't bench any of Iwobi and Nacho... He too will start from the bench provided Nacho does not lead the lines as the no.9. And Sir Goldfish80 called for Obinna Nwobodo.... (I already mentioned it once too) Mehn!!! Rohr better hear that one coz that will be a call-up that will add "extra beauty" to our wonderful "tip-tap/tiki taka-like" soccer....m princesuko: 1 Like |

am I the only who noticed that our coach does not know how to make subs? to be extremely truthful, Mikel should have been subbed and on time too, sure up your defence! and Musa should have come in earlier, the best form of defence is attack, Musa would have pinned their defence back and prevented them from playing the ball out of defence with ease but we won sha, enough negativity for now. Omeruo, well I won't bite anyone who said he was poor but I do believe that he was ok, his awareness was okay although his decision making needs more work but playing as our main right back won't be that bad because Ndidi was terrible, for a midfielder to make that clumsy mistake that he made that almost led to a goal shows that he shouldn't displace Onazi for now, I mean, you know they are playing with width, their wing forward is right behind you and you can't even trap any easy ball? and why then are you rushing in? when you lose the ball like that, get into position first don't rush in, we won but either Odubaijo comes in or Omeruo or Leon goes there. that Zambian goal was not a foul at all. in a million years it won't be a foul either, He was just stronger, even the Nigerians didn't dispute it, it was a goal but at least Omeruo dusted himself and maintained concentration for the remainder if the match. God bless Ikheme, his wife will give birth to twins. Iwobi was wasted as a winger today, He plays a lmf or a cmf never as a winger, and the coach instructed him to maintain width in the second half and it badly limited us, in the first half he was coming into the middle and playing slick one two touches, if Iwobi has to play as a wing forward then it has to be a Messi-type wing forward, that's one with a free role that can cut into the middle whenever he wants. with Victor Moses and Success coming back into the team, I don't Ser where an invitation card for Moses Simon will come from, did he complete a single successful dribble? No! and it wasn't that he didn't get the chance, He had his marker one on one for almost 7 times and each time I would think that he is about to work his magic but he has none. poor poor display. is there any reason why Echejile is starting ahead of Oshaniwa please? I am like Echejile but today he was okay oooh, but his marking skills have decreased a lot, all he has to his game now is his positional ability, although I might argue that he was playing alone over there so maybe it made him cautious. finally when is our next game please? 1 Like |

princesuko: hmmm, lateral wingers? wouldn't it be better to play inverted wingers that cut in to shoot? I mean Iwobi can shoot so playing him that side would limit his shooting abilities since it will be his weaker foot, and playing with full backs that concentrate on moving the ball to their wingers won't work against the Algerians because any misplaced pass would result in a one on one duel between their wingers and our defenders, they have Brahimi and Mahrez, that would be dangerous, we should work with conservative defenders in my point if view 1 Like |

UPBEAT NIGERIA TALK UP 'OPERATION BEAT ALGERIA' NOV 12 IN UYO Gernot Rohr After a 2-1 win in Zambia, Nigeria have now kick started ‘Operation Beat Algeria’, according to the president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). NFF president Amaju Pinnick said: “We commend the efforts of the players and the technical crew, and we thank the Honourable Minister of Sports for his words of encouragement before the match. “We are happy with the three points but it is a marathon, not a sprint. “We still have five matches to play. We will take it one match at a time. Next stop is ‘Operation Beat Algeria.’” The Eagles next play Algeria in Uyo on November 12. princesuko: Kanu Nwankwo has brilliant playmaking skills. From dribbling to an incredible eye for passing. As a youngster, Fani Amun and Westerhof fought because of Kanu. Westerhof wanted Amun to play Kanu in midfield but Amun refused because he had other midfielders. Note, Iwobi can also play as a forward and play midfield. They are very similar in style when you consider the elegance in their style of play. |

TheSuperNerd: Very impressive of the NFF and I hope this continues. The NFF and Sports Ministry should cut funds wasted because a lot of devoted footballers suffered from it. I hope the Sports Minister keep the 2015 U17 triumphing Eaglets and their technical crew in mind. I hope to read that they received rewards for their heroic performances. Nice development. |

goldfish80: You are on to something here. The sleek combinations with Iwobi, Iheanacho and Mikel was sweet to watch and looked deadly. I felt S. Moses did not fit the combinational play and the team needed another passing player. Nwobodo can join the three in the forward players of the midfield. I agree with you. |

Mickael2:Sure I used to think about Adi too but, from all indications, it seems the League he plays in is not that competitive hence his easy scoring performance. Don't forget, Coach Samson Siasia after monitoring him in training, said he is slow. I don't know if Fred Sunday can up his game to fill the Shoes. Let's just hope any of the homebased Strikers take us by storm. For me I can't wait for Osimhen to mature in his game. It seems hard to spot a striker between ages 20-23 at the moment doing us proud. Ideye is not different from or better than Ighalo. In the event of Injury to one or both of them, who do we call on as a capable replacement. (don't pray for it though) |

jobsat34: He picked up a knock in the last game and reports says he refused to pay his flight ticket to camp. He risk a suspension but I hope the coach intervenes and stop the NFF from suspending him and Victor Moses. I feel the coach should make that call, not the NFF. |

This is just the plan Sir. We gotta establish that gap between us and Algeria NOW before November 2017 comes around in Blida/Algiers. Beating Algeria in Uyo next month will give us a five point lead over them. Cameroun and Zambia in Yaounde (or whereever else in Cameroun) will be a brawl which either will win or just settle for a stalemate. tbaba1234: |

TheGoodJoe:I hope Rohr gives it a thought inviting Nwobodo in a friendly as we don't have Afcon to negotiate. The total midfield dominance will be unreal if he DARES integrate Obinna Nwobodo in this team. On Iwobi's style, yes he is a retainer in the final third like Hleb but watching him over and over again, I see a lot of influence from Pires. They have the same sleek style of getting away from people, quickturn if pace and that eye of a needle pass. Its not surprising because Robert Pires is a part of arsenal coaching staff. He trains with Iwobi everyday. There's a bit of Kanu in Iwobi's game too, just that he's quicker. 1 Like |

Zambia down but far from out Zambia's the new Kappa shirts did not bring the Chipolopolo any luck, and Nigeria ended up beating Zambia 2-1 in an exciting thriller that was a tale of two halves in Ndola. Nigeria dominated the first half, except for a few displays of individual brilliance by Zambia, and went ahead by two goals from their young guns, Arsenals’ Alex Iwobi and the Citizens’ Kelechi Iheanacho. The West Africans' coherence was superior as they overran the midfield, which is something that has always been the Zambians' strength. Only poor finishing by the Eagles prevented the score from being more lopsided. But then the second half came and Nyirenda made his changes, showing the man's true potential. Within minutes he had hauled off the hapless Chama and brought on Kondwani Mtonga. The Green Buffaloes defender had experienced an afternoon to forget as a series of defensive howlers nearly resulted in furthering an embarrassing scoreline in favour of the visitors. All day he stood in the shadow of the sun - not the one in the sky, but the one also named Stopilla - who repeatedly stepped in to clean up after him. Sure there were a few more glimmers of danger for the Nigerians, such as when John Obi Mikel nearly made it three with a spectacular volley from the edge of the area which Mweene did well to tip over his crossbar – but the half belonged to Zambia. Kalaba finally containing his frustration and became a constant menace, and he came close to reducing the deficit when he glided past Ndidi on the left-hand side before unleashing a shot that the impressive Ikeme blocked from point-blank range. Zambia finally got the goal that their endeavour deserved with 19 minutes left on the clock when Mbesuma took advantage of some terrible defending from Kenneth Omeruo. The defender made a mess of a long ball into the box and the veteran number 9 used his strength to shrug off the Nigerian the way one peels off an oversized shirt, and he uncurled a bomb past the brilliant Ikeme on the turn. Wave after wave of Chipolopolo attacks followed as they chased an equaliser, but the Super Eagles held on to get their campaign off to a winning start. Coach Nyirenda rightfully counted out the positives from the defeat, saying: “We are rebuilding the team and at the same time expecting to qualify for the Fifa World Cup. We have brought new players to the team and I think they blended well with the old players,” “But most of all I am happy with the response we got from our fans. After conceding those two goals they continued to support us. That means that we have real Chipolopolo supporters. They went on until the last minute. Even when we missed those chances they kept on chanting for us.But football being what it is, the result today went the other way. I would like to assure our fans that we will compensate this loss in upcoming matches and give them what they deserve.” Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr seemed to agree, saying that while the first half went according to plan, the second became a fight for survival. “The result today is a reflection of what happened in the match. What happened in the first half is what we expected. We played well and we scored. In the second half Zambia was the better team. They pushed and pushed and they almost made it 2-2 but the spirit of our team is very good so we managed to defend until the end,” said Rohr. The Chipolopolo’s next fixture is a difficult away match to Cameroon in November. However, as difficult as it is on paper, especially after the Lions grabbed a point away in Algeria last night, one must agree that if they play like they did against Nigeria, or improve ever so slightly by learning from their mistakes - it will be tough not just for the visitors, but for the hosts as well. Make that very tough. Source: http://mobi.supersport.com/football/zambia/news/161010/Zambia_down_but_far_from_out |

Zambia coach fancies Iwobi, Iheanacho Nigeria’s dynamic attacking duo of Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho were too strong for Zambia as they were both on target for the Super Eagles in a 2-1 win over the Chipolopolo of Zambia. Arsenal whizkid Iwobi opened scoring for Nigeria in the 31st minute before Iheanacho who scored the decisive goal for Manchester City in the Manchester Derby 2-1 victory over Manchester United, fired home a second before the half time break. Iwobi and Iheanacho Although Zambia pulled a goal back through Collins Mbesuma, the Eagles showed doggedness in seeing the game out on a 2-1 score line. Coach of Zambia Wedson Nyirenda speaking after the game lamented on his team's inability to take their chances but also saluted the lethal combo of Iwobi and Iheanacho. “We couldn’t take the chances we created but I must say as well that Nigeria, going forward in the final third, the accuracy of their passing, especially the duo of Iwobi and Iheanacho was exceptional” He said. “Defensively we were also poor in the first half. We have seen areas we need to fix before our next game. Hopefully we will come out stronger and better from this defeat”. goldfish80: I agree with the Pires analysis. Iwobi looks similar to the class of the old Arsenal sleek players. My favorites were Kanu, Pires and Bergkamp. Those sleek touches to take out markers. It is interesting watching him develop. As I told an Arsenal fan, it is difficult to imagine what Iwobi will become in the next three years. He is growing fast. 1 Like |

This is a post, about Iwobi, I found in an Arsenal forum. Thought it's funny so I reckon I should share it with you guys: "The fact that he chose Nigeria is proof that he’s got a good head on his shoulders. As someone rightly said in another thread recently, imagine the hype if he was English. He would be the next Pele already. Plus he would have to associate with slime like Rooney and sterling to name but a couple. And Nigeria are more likely to win the world cup than England anyway. Hell, Nigeria are probably more likely to win a European championship than England. Best off away from that nonsense. England’s loss will be Arsenal’s gain, I’m sure". 1 Like 1 Share |
