Henry240:we are not poor ,compare pakistan a country with GDP of less than $ 300 billion can afford to have nuclear weapons,F-6 jets,ballistic missiles with range of more than 2,000KM ,Submarines e.t.c jordan with a GDP of $39 billion dollars is equiped with F-16,challenger tanks , Javelin anti tank weapon e.t.c and military industry that could rank among the top african military industries.dont forget jordan is the second water poor country in the world,90% of their wheat is donated by america(bread in jordan is subsidized by the government ,basically its like they are given for free) we dont even have border security agencies or are too poorly equipped,funded and under manned to even secure our borders.most of our armies are poorly trained,equipped e.t.c to even participate in peace keeping 3 Likes |

africaken254: Pakistan is a dirt poor country which has no business owning nuclear weapons, that huge amount of F-16s or that much equipment. Why don't you leave Kenya and go live in Pakistan. Jordan a country with no natural resources has the best educated people in the middle-east, and a very high standard of leaving. They didn't get there by spending all their money on F-16s. Jordan receives considerable aid and security guarantees from the US. Jordan is no Yemen. Southern Turkey is No safer than North-East Nigeria. Infact many areas of Southern Turkey are considerably worse than N.E Nigeria, despite massive defence spending. For the so called big countries in Africa, Defence spending, a Defence cap of $4 billion is adequate for our security requirements. 1 Like |

africaken254: Africans are in a worse state, and you think spending more money on defence remedies the situation. Like i said previously, $4 billion is more than adequate for the big countries in Africa, half of that for medium level. Any military that cannot work around $3.5 billion - $4 billion a year would still fail even if $700 billion is provided for defence. 1 Like |

africaken254: Yes, absolutely. As with most African countries maybe those migs ended up that way because military appointments were made by tribal or perceived loyalty rather than merit. Or the money was misappropriated by officials who were appointed politically. Don't you think Africa would benefit more by not having any borders? Don't be so pessimistic with good governance all this issues can be fixed and Africa can thrive. It would only take one generation to catch up with Europe. 2 Likes |
