I had to comment when I saw this. Obinna Nwobodo has never ever ever played as a deep lying midfielder. Christian Madu is Rangers deep lying midfielder or Emeka Eze.
Nwobodo formed an attacking quadruple with Clement, Aguda, Egbuchulam which was called the "CANE ".
Any human being who has watched Nwobodo play will not even try to question his abilities.
The sort of goals and assists he bagged this past season will leave you gasping for breath.
Type on YouTube enugurangers and watch highlights of their games this last season. You will understand why the noise about Obinna Nwobodo's genius.
Had it been he was Brazilian, playing for Corinthians. Man city, Barca and Real Madrid would have been outdoing each other to get him for £40m.

On his role in this team, I think Barcelona and Spain has proved to the world that technically gifted players can be integrated into a team and the balance of play won't be affected.
I think Nigeria missed a trick in the late 90s and early 2000's with continuous benching of Oruma. Its a pity our coaches believed that only one no 10 can play at a time.
Had it been we had creative thinkers in our national team management then, they would have found a solution to play Oruma, Kanu and Jay Jay in midfield, just like Spain used Alonso, Busquests, Xavi and iniesta in their golden generation.
Integrating Nwobodo, Iwobi, Mikel, Iheanacho in this team will be quite close to the Spanish team that dominated the world and Europe.

Well his wikipedia page diasgree.
Rangers FC
After signing for Rangers International Football Club, Obinna was promoted straight into the first team within a matter of weeks. He was handed his preferred number 8 shirt and registered as a central midfielder. He was described as possessing an unusually-high tactical awareness, good passing range and the ability to pass and shoot with either of his feet. Rangers fans were excited to watch one of Nigeria's U-17 and U-20 players who is comfortable in the deep-lying playmaker role or regista and has been compared to Xavi and Riquelme by followers of the youth teams due to his early success.

So what is your problem in what I said? I did not bring Nwobodo into the topic. Someone pointed how strong we were with Iwobi, Iheanacho and Mikel combining makes us strong. When I was watching the match, I thought do we have another player who can play wide and like Iwobi. Not just a winger.

I think it was goldfish80 that pointed at Nwobodo. It clicked. If we want to play that way, Nwobodo can add to it.

So what is the problem? It was a brilliant suggestion that someone feels Rohr should look into. He did not say we must play that way against Algeria or that should be our style.

So please tell me what the problem is? I was explaining his suggestion.

I thought you said he should start against Algeria grin. No Problem with that then

our game is going as planned.

Get a win against Zambia away in the first match as this will force them to tighten up in subsequent games at home, hence, helping us beat both Cameroun and Algerian at Ndola.

Win all our home games, and get another win or draw in Yaounde or Blida since the first match against Cameron and Algeria ended in a draw, then we are as good as qualified.

That’s the plan and it is working out. Up Eagles

The rate at which we r dragging our players with England is alarming, every time I would read "England call up 4 players of Nigerian descent to U-20 camp " "3 Nigeria players feature as England beats so so team" and so on.
I'm wondering,do they use other countries' players as they use ours,or is it only our players they see.
At least 2 or 3 of our players r representing them in all their various national teams.

Look at the french national team, Zidane, Viera, Nasri, Benzema, Diarra, etc all from African descent. Imagine if Zidane decided to play for Algeria... The french national team is African.

Nigeria is England's biggest colony in Africa so it is expected. Many Nigerians would rather emigrate to England than any other european country because of the language.

grin Hehehe! Beer! Sorry, God don deliver me from beer since 2001. grin

Anyway, I don't agree Oshaniwa is ahead of Echiejile now because Oshaniwa has not played a single game since August while Echiejile is still playing some games.

I think both Taiwo and Echiejile are good for the National team.

Remove Mikel and Onazi from that team and the midfield will collapse.

We saw it against France when Onazi was substituted and we also saw it against Tanzania when Mikel was substituted.

We need central midfielders in the mold of Mikel and Onazi but I don't think Ndidi and Azubuike are natural central midfielders.

Esiti and Ogu must be tried and tested in a friendly.

Iwobi is not a central midfielder. he is either a winger or an attacking midfielder.

Kenneth Otigba can replace Jamiu Alimi.

Awaziem is not qualified to play in the National team as at now because he has been demoted to Porto's second team.

We need first team with regular playing time.
It was when babatunde michael got injured by matuidi our midfield collapsed, and not onazi. Ok with that?

I do not understand why a Particular Moniker is trying hard to defend the Flops of the Match.

Ndidi is a fantastic Player - a very good DMF, but he failed woefully as a RB. I can't really blame the Coach for playing him there, seems he thought with his CB Experience, he would fair better.

I saw a proposed Lineup, and I couldn't stop laughing. Onazi as LB?! LOL! Thank God that the Eagles is done with local Technical Adviser.

We need to play Musa Muhammad as the Team's RB henceforth. Someone is craving for Experience, but he forget we got the Goals from the inexperienced Kids in the Team.

I implore the Advocate of Omeruo to watch his last Match he played for his Club, they lost the Match disgracefully because of his fatal Errors.

I will rather play Musa/Shehu - Balogun - Ekong - Taiwo/Oshanjwa in the defence line.

Mikel and Onazi still remains the best Pivot for the Team's Midfield. I think we should stick to it, cos they ain't doing bad. Then we should have Esiti, Ndidi even Kelechi Nwakali as Backups.

I will pick S. Moses over V. Moses and Ahmed Musa as the Team's RM any day any time. Though he's not as good as V. Moses, but he's more committed to the Team than him, and better than Ahmed Musa with Ball on his Feet.

Iwobi is a fantastic discovery, a rare Gem, he should maintain the LM position. While Iheanacho should maintain his AM Role. The Trio are skillful, talented and can comfortably switch Positions without distorting the Team's Rhythm, rather make it hard for the Opponent to contain them.

Upfront - we've been let down by our present Strikers. However, I would suggest Isaac Success to lead the Line! He's strong and pacy, he's also terrific when he's in form.

Meanwhile..... we can't invite all to the Camp of the Super Eagles. We should stick with the present Squad, so that they would be able to gel-up well and become a Force to reckon with and a Team to fear beyond the Africa Continent.

I love your write up. But let me touch some points.

-Issue of "Experience": I have said it repeatedly that where experience counts more is in the midfield and defense(especially the defense).

If attackers make mistakes the other attackers or midfieldera are there to cover for them before it gets to the defense. But when defenders make mistakes it often leads to goals. See Omeruo's case for eg and our first goal came from a poor clearance from a Zambian defender. We dnt need school boys errors in the defense.

Teams typically find it easier to field inexperienced young players in attack but in the defense? Experience counts alot.

It is left to Rohr wether he has the guts to start Musa Mohammed against an Algerian side blessed with highly talented wingers. I would rarher we field either Omeruo or Balogun at RB.

-If Victor Moses is fit there is no way Simon would start ahead of him. Our first choice wingers are Iwobi and V. Moses.

After the Algeria game we have up till August next yr before our game against Cameroun.Rohr can understudy several natural RBs during that long interval (of which i am very sure he and his crew would do). There would be Fifa windows during the period so we expect friendlies.

But for the next game which is jst next month we may have to try one of our CB at RB.

ZAMBIANS THROW SHADE ON NIGERIANS:
YOU ARE OVER RELIANT ON KIDS (IWOBI &
IHEANACHO)

Three highly respected Zambian journalist have
taken swipe at the Super Eagles of Nigeria ahead of Sunday’s World Cup 2018 qualifiers clash against the Chipolopolo in Ndola.

James Lungu told Owngoalnigeria.com that
Nigeria is no longer a force to be reckoned with in global football due to the dearth of quality
footballers in the country, unlike before.

” I heard Victor Moses is not playing, that is good news. Who do you have? Mikel? , he sits on the bench at Chelsea, the rest are average players, except Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi. You don’t win games with kids” He said.

James Kennedy also shared same opinion as his
compatriot, insisting that Zambia have got more
experience in their team than Nigeria.

” We have players with more experience than you guys. Nigerians are quick to shout Iwobi. We see them on social media. Iheanacho, they are kids, am not sure they can cope with the demands of a World Cup qualifiers. You need experience in the African terrain to do that”. He concluded.

WHY GENK STAR NDIDI GOT THE NOD TO
START AGAINST ZAMBIA, ROHR EXPLAINS

The decision to start Wilfred Ndidi ahead of Musa Mohammed has generated debates in Nigeria especially as he was preferred ahead of Shehu Abdullahi who has also played as a right back for the Eagles.

Ndidi who is predominantly a central defender
during his days with the various arms of Nigeria
Youth teams, the Under-17 and 20s precisely
have been converted to a defensive midfielder by his Belgian side.

Playing him as a right full back in an important
game like the World Cup qualifiers between
Nigeria and Zambia caused a lot of concerns for
football loving Nigerians.

However shortly after the 2-1 victory we gathered that, Rohr went for Ndidi ahead of Musa and Shehu due to his marking abilities as opposed to the attack minded duo who have played in the position in the past.

Nigeria needed to keep things tight at the back and, Rohr noticed Ndidi marks better and doesn’t give out fouls around the edge of the box than most defenders in the team.

Aside that his aerial abilities in defending set
piece in training won Rohr over
, as the manager drilled his defenders on how to defend set pieces from which they expect Zambia to threaten prior to the game.

Source: http://owngoalnigeria.com/2016/10/10/why-genk-star-ndidi-got-the-nod-to-start-against-zambia-rohr-explains/

This coach never know naija. If he had lost the match, people would have questioned his bad selection at the RB.

A more important issue now is which of Omeruo, Balogun, Shehu or Mohammed would play that RB as these are the top 4 choices at RB for that game against Algeria.

The biggest challenge with Nigerian coaches is sentiments not ability. In Oliseh's first game, he invited players that were managed by his brother. There is a conflict of interest already.

Look at Siasia's Olympic team, no new player can make the transition to the senior team from there.

Even Keshi that was successful, consistently stuck with his boys.

Hopefully, Rohr continues to be objective as it seems he has been so far.

NFF: We Have No Reason To Doubt Isaac Success, Victor Moses Injury

Watfords Isaac Success

The Nigerian Football Federation have come out to deny media reports claiming the federation were considering handing out domestic bans to EPL stars Isaac Success and Victor Moses

Media reports towards the buildup to the Super Eagles crucial match against Zambia which the Super Eagles won 2-1 suggested both Moses and Success faked injuries which ruled them out of featuring for the Super Eagles.

It was reported that both Moses and Isaac Success were irritated by the NFF’s request for players to buy their flight tickets themselves that they fabricated Injury as an excuse to opt out of the game

However when contacted by Ron Walker a reporter for the Watford Observer a local News outfit for Isaac Success club Watford, NFF Media officer Toyin ibitoye denied the reports

“The news we got was that he [Success] got a dead leg in Watford’s last game, and asked to be excused from our World Cup qualifying game away to Zambia in Ndola.

“We have no reason to doubt what Watford and the player tell us.” The NFF’s Media officer was said to have told the Watford Observer

Isaac Success who scored his first goal for the Hornets in their 2-2 draw with Bournemouth suffered a dead leg in the match at Vicarage Road while Victor Moses injured his hamstring in Chelseas 2-0 victory against Hull
