captain Musa Muhammed in the Super Eagles in
under threat according to manager Gernot Rohr.
Muhammed lack of game time at Turkish side
Istanbul Basaksehir has not gone down well with
the manager, who has now made it clear that the
19 year old risk being dropped from subsequent
squads unless he sort out his club form.


” Part of the reason, he (Musa) didn’t play in the
last game against Zambia was because of his lack
of game time for his team in Turkey. We have to

Head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot
Rohr, has giving an insight into the chances of
home base players in Nigeria’s squad for the
upcoming World Cup 2018 qualifiers game
against Algeria.


Since taking over the job of the Super Eagles, he
has included home based players in his squad for
games, a sign of the faith he has in their abilities.


Although no player from the Nigeria domestic
scene has played since his coming two months
ago. The likes of Jamiu Alimi, Ikechukwu Ezenwa,
Godwin Obaje and Chisom Egbuchulam have all
made the bench for the team.


In an exclusive interview with
Owngoalnigeria.com in Abuja, the German
handler of the Super Eagles confirmed that he
has plans for players based in Nigeria but could
snub them as the league is on break.


” I have them in my plans but for November, I
don’t think they stand a chance as the league is
presently on break” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.


” We want players who are fit and match ready,
we will try to see how we can help in that regard
but for now their chances is not all bright”.

The south Americans have the same problem especially the Brazilian. Once they make it to the top they lose interest or stop caring. Example are Ronaldo (The fat one), Anderson, Robinho, and may be Ronaldinho although most do reach the top but they don't stay for long.

I strongly aver that he go with experienced and tested players against Algeria not green horn because this is not the right time to gamble or experiment.

For the right back position, he should choose between the Trio of Omeruo, Onazi or Balogun.
Onazi fared well in that position in Afcon 2013 under coach Keshi against the Zambian when Ambrose was suspended.
We all know the ability of Leon at Right back but his partnership with Ekong is just too perfect to be disrupted.
Omeruo can cope with his versatility, pace, tackle and strength.

So either Onazi or Omeruo should start at Right Back.

At the Left back, Echiejele can do the job. Which Amuzie , we all saw how he was exposed constantly in the just concluded Olympics. Why gamble with such a player with the fire power of the Algerians?? . Will the Algerians sit back and allow us play just because we are host?, hell no. They will hit us with all they have got. Does Taiwo Taiye play competitive football? Let's move ahead joor.
I would love to see more of Esiti in midfield.

I would rather love to see a continuation of Onazi and Mikel partnership at the midfield.

Ekong-Balogun partnership, I cannot say is a perfect one yet cos that Tanzania game was the first they played together as CBs and we know they were not much tested.
One of the reasons why i would want Omeruo at RB is bc the ghost of that Zambia error may still be hunting him. He might get jittery.
Also i have seen Omeruo at RB before, under Keshi.I'v forgotten the game or competition though.I recall he did nt disappoint.

Let us use the Algeria game to test Ekong-Balogun partnership to see if this is what we can bank on.
