It's true Robinho won titles and has his share of accolades but fact is he didn't fulfill his "wickedly talented" potentials.... He failed to live up to his name as "the new pele".

That's one thing with most of these brazillians... They taste a little success and they just relax.

Same thing even happened to Ronaldinho.

They could have achieved much much more.

Look at Messi and C.Ronaldo... These are examples of players who are doing everything to fulfill every ounce of their potential which is why they have done things others have never done....

Robinho, Ronaldinho and even Kaka didn't reach such heights.

This is why I'm glad to know some of our youngsters like Nacho has his eyes fixed on players like Messi, Pele and Even Van Basten.

Robinho and Ronaldinho's achievements are dreams of footballers. Is it Ajagun or Obasi? They pass us

African players simply have less opportunities than Brazilians... Not many top European teams will stick their neck out for a top talented African youngster. Even the transfer fees they pay are undervalued.

Brazilians have a better league and as such produce more quality. By the time, many players leave for Europe, they are no longer youngsters. They can not improve anymore.

If a player like JJ was European or south American, he would have played for the best clubs and refined his talent. He had raw talent.

Just like Brazil has had success stories, there has also been expensive flops.

GENT STAR MOSES SIMON REVEALS WHAT
IMPRESSES HIM THE MOST ABOUT IWOBI

Gent of Belgium ace Moses Simon has revealed
the one quality he admires the most in Arsenal 20 year old forward Alex Iwobi, who is his
international teammate in the Nigeria national
team set up.

Simon who played alongside Iwobi in the attack of the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their 2-1 win over Zambia over the weekend, in the World Cup 2018 qualifiers with Iwobi scoring one of the goals.

Aside his goal in the game, Simon reveals he
admires a lot of qualities in the nephew of former Super Eagles captain Austin Okocha, particularly his conduct off the pitch.

”He is a guy you want to spend the day with,
such a lively guy, full of jokes, humble and down
to earth. Hard to believe he is same guy who
plays for a club as big as Arsenal” Simon told
Owngoalnigeria.com.

”On the pitch he is a fun guy as well, always
willing to help his teammate and above all, he is
so unpredictable, no defender will have fun
playing against him. He is fearless and knows
when to do the right thing”.

More numbers, more successes..

If Nigeria has a solid league, we will be able to groom talents better.

I think we need to have an under 17 league with mandatory MRI tests.. The results will be outstanding..

WE PLAY WITHOUT FEAR NOW, SUPER
EAGLES STARS SPEAK ON ROHR’S MAN
MANAGEMENT SKILLS

Three players of the Super Eagles of Nigeria have in separate chats confirmed to
Owngoalnigeria.com that, Gernot Rohr has made a positive impact on their mentality when it comes to games.

One of the players said unlike past coaches of the team, the German coach gives them lot of confidence when it comes to games, and usually advised them to enjoy themselves on the pitch.

”He talks to every player. He doesn’t discriminate, to him every player is the same but the last two coaches of the team were not like that” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.

Another player said, he doesn’t give too much
instructions on the pitch, which has allowed the
players the freedom to express themselves
properly during games.

”One of our former coach, doesn’t stop talking
from the start of the game till the end he is
talking. It confuses us a lot but Rohr is not like
that, he give us the freedom to play our game bar little corrections”.

Funny and strict when he has to, was the
sentence one of the players we talked to use in
describing the German handler.

”You can’t have a friendly chat with him without laughing, he is very funny but strict when it comes to passing on team instructions”.

SUPER EAGLES COACH ROHR
UNCOMFORTABLE WITH SUPER EAGLES
WASTEFULNESS WHEN IT COMES TO
SCORING FROM…….

The head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria has identified one key area he wants his team to make proper use of when it comes to goal scoring.

Since Rohr took over the Super Eagles they have scored three goals from open play with
Manchester City Kelechi Iheanacho and Arsenal
Alex Iwobi the players to have found the back of
the net for Nigeria under Rohr.

Nigeria will next play Algeria in the World Cup
2018 qualifiers, where they are presently on top
of group B after their 2-1 away success over
Zambia in Ndola.

Ahead of the game, Rohr is eager to see his team score goals from set pieces due to the amount of freekicks and corner kicks they usually get in games.

Before the game against Zambia, they had drills
on scoring from free kicks and corner kicks, but
during the game proper they failed to convert the chances that came their way from set pieces into goals.

”We have to work on scoring from set pieces, we usually have lots of corner kicks and free kicks in games. We have the players who could be threat in those situations but we are yet to make proper use of them. It’s a problem we hope to solve soon” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.

Mesut Ozil insists Arsenal starlet Alex Iwobi is a 'mixture of Jay-Jay Okocha and Edgar Davids'

As well as comparing Iwobi to his uncle Okocha and Davids, Ozil also insists that the Nigerian 20-year-old is strong in all departments of his game.
He reminds me of his uncle, Jay-Jay Okocha,' Ozil told Arsenal Player. 'He was a player I loved watching. Alex reminds me of a mixture of him and Edgar Davids.
'He's really strong on the ball, also defensively, but he's good in front of goal too.
'He knows exactly what he can do. He isn't scared and doesn't hide on the pitch. He just wants to have fun playing football and that really shows on the pitch, and also in training.

Iwobi has been an integral part of Arsenal's in form attacking line-up so far this season
'He's developing really well and if he continues the way he's been playing the whole season, he will really enhance his game.
'The manager knows exactly how good he is and I wish him all the best. He is really young and is on a really good path.'

must be terrible knowing you, on the other hand, are part of the 95 percent.

What? A white guy throws a few pounds at you and you turn into an animal, drinking wildly and gbenshing anything with a hole in it? And then when they ask why you're so, you go "I can't help it, it's cuz I'm black"... That's like saying " I'm fat because it runs in my family"...not because you're too lazy to lose it.

We are what we say we are, not what some red-faced, turtle-looking descendant of a slave-trading, land grabbing maniac says we are.

I'm a realist and will always tell it as it is. The kind of life u r living right now is copied from the same people you mocked in your last paragraph. The football you spend loads of time analyzing was created by them, even the clothes u wear most of the time.

yes I can accept this backline, so long as Onazi isn't there. If Brahimi plays then we might have a problem, but if he doesn't we could have an advantage there, we could play a narrow left defence which means Onazi will be predominantly the LB while Echejile plays as a second LCB, it's complicated and since our players don't play in top teams it will be hard, so we just have to manage and pray

Brahimi will definitely play is he is injury free.

Manage - No. We can scout for a reliable left back before the game.

Pray - Yes. But we need to get our acts right. Lol

Brazil has a system that works-Nigeria does not have one yet.
Football is their way of Life.#Facts.

But since 2013, Nigeria has produced more talented young players than they've done.
You made mention that they are on the rise once again(citing their olympic gold achievement)... Okay!!! so we are. But don't forget Brazil's past achievement paved way for them. They still struggled on their way to olympic glory despite all the stars they got.

Imagine what could have happened if our own young stars(M. Mohammed, Iwobi, success, Nacho,s. moses etc...) were released by their clubs for d games just has d brazillians got theirs. Maybe t could have been Neymar's turn to cry.(E STILL DE PAIN ME SAY D WORLD COULDN'T SEE ONE OF THE BEST ASSEMBLED YOUNG TEAM play @ the olympics)

Who is best to fill d LB n RB are our present concern.

It won't be advisable to start Echiejile from d left.
1. He lacks d pace to cope against d algerians which might want to explore that side with longballs(e.g 2nd half vs. Zambia).
2. He is easily caught out of position.
3. Iwobi can't track back to defend well. If played from d left.
So who do we play in his place?
*Taiwo? Oh no! already 31(football age), overlaps too much, last played for eagles against Argentina@2010 worldcup.
*Oshaniwa? Same with him. He has been out for a while. No time to integrate with d team.
*Amuzie&Madu are too young and less experienced to cope with such attack. Poor timing n crosses as we can see @ Rio.
FOR NOW Elderson Echiejile should start but with V.Moses playing from left- I think we'll have a good cover up.

For d RB:
Ndidi should not start.
It's either shehu or Omuero should be deploy but not Onazi (He is too attack minded that he'll join d attack and therefore exposing d defence-no amount of instruction will keep him there)

@bolded is just our problem.

If we had players like Andrea Pirol or Maldini, dem no go smell our national team. Why?

We want fresh leg. Na wa ooo!

What matters most is players current form and not age.

I can suggest Nurudeen Orelesi and Chima Okoroji as options at the LB but not against Algeria. Maybe in a friendly first.

When Taiwo went to Marceille, it was a weak club.

How many Nigerian teenagers will Juventus bid above $20,000,000?

Your talking Taiwo. 2005. In recent years, we are talking Marquinhos, Thiago Silva, David Luiz, Douglas Costa, Lucas Moura.

The closest Marseille got to another trophy was when they reached the UEFA Cup Final in 2004 impressively beating Dnipro, Internazionale, Liverpool, and Newcastle United along the way. But they were beaten in the final by newly crowned Spanish champions Valencia and once again fans were forced to continue waiting for the next trophy to come along. In 2005, Marseille succeeded in winning the Intertoto Cup, beating the likes of Lazio and Deportivo de La Coruña in doing so, and earning another shot at the UEFA Cup.

Bros, Marseille was not a weak team as at 2004/2005 as you can see.

Taye Taiwo was bought immediately after that finals to replace Lizarazu.

Besides, Samuel Okunowo went straight from Shooting Stars fc to play for Barcelona first team.

But you are right about Brazilian youngsters.

People have been making suggestions like: starting Onazi at LB or RB, starting V. Moses at the left wing so as to provide xover for Echiejile
Some1 has also said we should start Esiti ahead of Onazi.

All these are attempts to unsettle the balance and stability in that team.

We forget the first line of defense is the midfield. If u unsettle the midfield bc of LB u have destabilized the whole team. More like cutting off the head to deal with a running nose.

Let Echiejile remain at LB and Onazi partner with Mikel at the midfield. If the midfielders prevent the balls from getting to Mahrez and Slimani their threats would be minimized.

Moses needs to do more to support the RB also Iwobi needs to support the LB. Iwobi's defensive capabilities and physicality especially as seen at Arsenal has improved.

The strenght of this team lies in our midfield and attack. Let us not destabilize it bc we want to replace Echiejile.
