Aisha Buhari's open critiscm of her husband's administration in the viral interview she granted the BBC, exposed deep frustration of her living with Buhari.

She knows her husband probably more than anybody living today as a stubborn, arrogant, inflexible and one who likes being reminded of his mythical puritan disposition by sycophants over the years.

She must have witnessed so many inflexible and naive moves by Buhari in her 27yr marriage to him to know his weakness and failures.

Her public outbursts and open critism of her husband's style of governance (a first ever by any first lady) shows a woman tired and nearly at the point of giving up on her own husband.

I admire her courage to speak up and also her determination to see that Buhari gets his act together which will rid his presidency of the desperate self serving cabal who she rightly claim were nowhere to be found before her husband was sworn in.

Her statements can not be taken back and Buhari's cringe worthy response to her complaints in front of the whole world is bound to lead to more fracas between husband and wife in the "other room".

The cabal will not relinquish their vice control on Buhari over Aisha's worries but rather their grip and isolation on her husband will be tightened.

Aisha is no fool. She did know before the interview the forces she was going against which included the cabal, Conservative forces in northern Nigeria and her own marriage to her husband. This is where I have began to admire her courage. She after all has a lot to lose by making that statement just as she was heavily criticised by the same conservative elements over her choice in clothing when she purportedly visited the US.

It is from this great turmoil she is about to face from the chauvinist enclave that she can finally find her own voice. She has both the charm, charisma and passion for whatever she sets out to achieve as we all witnessed the relentless zeal she campaigned for her husband who often times cancelled appearances in his campaign train over a myriad of health challenges.

It is from her new found popularity among true progressives and subsequently notoriety from the northern hawks that she can now have a voice of her own instead of speaking on behalf of a man who considers her best for the kitchen despite all her selfless contributions to him.

I believe we have found a champion for women's rights in Aisha Buhari and I employ her to use her new found position to vigorously fight the chauvinistic archaic bullies that have kept down the northern woman.

She has everything for her now and nothing to lose. In some ways I see Aisha as the first thorough champion of women's rights and a true first lady in the making.

While her courage could be commended, the rationale behind her outburst robs her act of any credibility.

Aisha must have dreamt that she'd be strutting around with all that airs and influence that PEJ courted, forgetting that she is the wife of a conservative General and not a spineless zoo doctor drunk half the time. Eliminating the office of the first lady is one of the best things PMB did.

She went out of line for selfish reasons and is undeserving of any praise.

she knew he possessed all the qualities you mentioned and yet she foisted him on Nigerians. These qualities wouldn't have been so bad if he was at least educated. A stubborn chauvinistic president who also happens to be an illiterate is not something any nation should suffer.

I remember clearly before elections when He bragged about the fact that there was no office of the first lady in the Nigerian constitution like it was something to be proud of. Aisha was quick to agree probably focusing her attention on the winning the heart of patience Jonathan's anti-fan club and choosing to to ignore how ignorant he sounded.

All of a sudden everybody wants to act like she is a heroine? she probably just mad about not being given as much power as the "strangers" she keeps whining about. Seems like she forgot the position of Islam and northerners on the subject of female power. she's been duly reminded.

Back to the kitchen with you my fellow weaker se.x.

Which women's right?

someone lost out of Aso Rock power tussle and she becomes emergency women activist?

Someone who wasn't elected or appointed into government decides to "blast her husband in public", a thing NO Virtuous Wife will do cannot be said to be right activist.

Who Aisha help? She and her husband are not the first ever couple Nigeria will have, they better stop using the press to further disgrace themselves.

Aisha is not a government official FTR!
And Buhari's open response to her was inappropriate.

She's not a govt official but has retinue of media and personal Aids been paid from the national treasury or the president pays them from his own salary

Let's stop with this hoax of being just wife of the president as opposed to being the first Lady when there's no difference in portfolio/protocol.

For me, her outburst is wonderfully timed and she deserves our support and commendation

I must admit that I have been hitting Buhari from under the belt by being heavily critical of both Aisha and Zahra.

I have said things about their non compliance to strict sharia traditions just to get at buhari who in the past had called for universal sharia in our polity.

I stated that buhari is a hypocrite for allowing Zahra allover the Internet without full hijab.

Now I know why Zahra is a bold and outspoken young lady.

If it were down to buhari Zahra probably would have since been married off to one of his old buddies.

What we see in Zahra today is all down to Aisha's struggle to ensure her daughters do not end up as bed warmers and Tuwoo cooks for one old Amir.

If there is any evidence of Aisha's ability to get her way round buhari we can see it in her outgoing and confident beautiful daughters.

Charity they say begin at home.

Aisha should push her message for women empowerment in the north citing the success she has in raising a confident young daughter.

We have two presidents in Nigeria with differnt functions; Mamman Daura approves while the old soldier(Buhari) appends his signature. Here is a reninder of Aisha working in the Kitchen while Mammam Daura campagins vigorously for Buhari during elcetioneering. What an irony!!! Virtually all the 15millions that voted Buhari are irrelevant in the scheme of things today, except Mamman Daura and Abba Kyari, the duo with neither APC card membership nor INEC voter's card. She went out of line for selfish reasons and is undeserving of any praise.

I have this believe that Aisha must have played a role in getting the APC alliance going by convincing buhari privately to take the merger deal with Tinubu.

I also believe she gets her way anytime she appeals to buhari in private and that she must have reminded him that his constant rejection at the polls by the southwest will continue without the merger.

I say this because she sounded like someone who vouched for another only for that person to be renegade on all promises.

Her outbursts was more to clear the air that she in no where has a hand in Buhari's lopsided appointments which doesn't even satisfy the contributions of those who helped him get to power within the apc.

This woman has a conscience and believes one day they will leave Aso Rock and doesn't want to partake in any of the blames in her husband's failed presidency.

She must have tried reaching out to buhari but never succeeded since buhari has now surrounded himself with his comfortable CPC/Abacha era cabal.

The woman has her reputation and those of her kids to protect and she is out to set the record straight.

This is why I admire her as she is ready to say the truth.

I agree with most of the positives you outlined and attributed to Aisha, however the fact remains that she was ONLY crying out for lacking undue influence in the General's political affairs which is self serving, sentimental and meritless.

The rationale of her outburst robs her sail of any wind.

That is the big question... Even the Bible clearly warn that nobody should be assigned position of authority in the Church if he cannot control his home.

What I see is that Mr President and Aisha are bad examples to the institution called marriage. Both of them lack respect for each other. While Aisha refused to respect the professional decisions of Mr President, Mr President failed to respect his wife by keeping whatever position she holds at home in private.

The best ever couple to grace Aso Villa remains MR and Mrs Yemi Osinbajo. Yemi has been in public office since the 90s but not a single controversy has come from his wife or ANY member of his family. Maybe Mr and Mrs Sambo too.

From what I gathered from her interview she wasn't speaking for herself but on behalf of aggrieved party members who were crucial to her husband's electoral win.

I did not hear her speak for herself but for others.
