It is today oh. I called them on phone to confirm that. In fact I told the person that attended to my call to tell their management to review their rate and come down to N320 CBN asked them to do or they should disable their cards from been used and the poor lady was astound that she didn't know what to say. Our banks are not smiling, they don't want N5 gain. I think this business should be pari passu, banks should be kind enough to assist us by enabling their cards and bringing down the rate to N320 since we also helped them when the rate was high.

The directive was clear on a cap of N5 margin. Interbank rate for sometime now has been between N304.5 - N315; except the rate changes or CBN increases the margin, I don't expect card rate to be above N320.



350-400 at the black market is a long shot. CBN has not done so much to expect such. And for me, I don't think the arrangement with Travelex is sustainable... though I hope I'm wrong on this.

even as we are talking ppl have started stockpiling dollars in thousands and waiting to buy more in December. By Jan the crazy rates starts again

When you use that money to buy good from CHN and compare the price of that good to that of produce in Nigeria the one from China will have comparative advantage over the one produce in Nigeria due to the level of Economics of scale in China (efficient at producing ) in other to correct this abnomality the Government through it Monetary or fiscal Operation can control this with either Tarrif or Non Tariff barrier. Currently the volatility in the forex is as a result of Government Monetary Policy and to me comes with alot of advantage if we are ready to Benefit

CBN can comeup with timely shock to supress the pressure on Naira. For example if CBN strategically make available fx to create shock in the supply chain leaving the capital boy to struggle with high rate since the rate provided by CBN would be far lower.

Not a Fan of Emelefe, but the CBN did what they had to do to save the Naira. Those banks have made billions from Dollar Racketeering.

Banks were getting Western Union Dollar at official Rate and then Resold it to their customers at Black Market Rate contrary to what they were instructed by the CBN. This action starved the BDCs of the much needed liquidity they needed. Nigerian Banks are the chief culprits in all this devaluation mess. Now the CBN has decided to reach out to BDCs via Travelex.

Banks are now Required to Remit all those Dollar Inflows to the CBN so it can be channeled properly to the BDCs via Travelex. That is why they have no dollars to give Card Holders anymore.

Those that are wise should begin to offload their Dollars now. I see the Dollar falling to 320-360 within the next 2 weeks if new policy is well implemented.
