47? Really? Ok we gree.. but what are their names and routes they ply? How many daily/weekly scheduled flights? Business model etc People just throw out figures with nothing tangible to back up... .... Methinks, private jet owners /operators are 90% of this spurious figure. 33 Likes 3 Shares |

modath: Why don't you digest the news first before adducing your defensive war tools.. FYI; the news is not against ur pay masters this time but a holistic analysis on Airlines in Nigeria that span for over 30years.. Take it easy, we all understand you are trying to earn your Garri but, also consider those who the ineptitude of the these politicians and the policies they churn out is effecting their own 'Okpa'.. Stop rushing to defend the indefensible, allow some little criticism here and there sometime, you could agree with me it's equally important to help these guys queue up sometimes for the interests of all.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_defunct_airlines_of_Nigeria 64 Likes 5 Shares |

CHIJIOKE1314: Air travel isn't cheap anywhere in the world that's why buses and trains (+ferries in some instances) exist.... It's cos we don't have "safe" and less arduous alternatives.... As for reliability, don't put that in same sentence as naija flights (bar international ones who have customers that have set standards they must meet in order to guarantee repeat biz) ..... Have you ever had a 3 pm flight and end up in your destination at 11pm (for a 1hr flight ) cos of unexplained delays and they would not reschedule you for the next morning? Airlines here are bosses of their regulators... it's a major cluster bleep situation that has to be overhauled and re designed / rejigged . 7 Likes 1 Share |

CHIJIOKE1314: Who is your paymaster ? Should have known not to expect civility... Since i didn't read and would like to know, please give us 10 names of airlines that have collapsed within the last 5yrs, f you can't just list 5 .... Will never fathom why your type and rudeness are siamese.. mtcheeew..
Just observed that you added this to increase the "LIKES" potential... Good job, the likes will flow into your bank account and when it does, you can help Mo with a kongo of garri.. You can't help the crassitude , but one day, you guys will come to terms with the fact that you can make your point without resorting to direct personal attacks...
Who and what are you criticizing exactly? 30+yrs successive government or the most recent past or the present one? Be specific and also try to keep your story straight... Some of us see right through your intentions & will never allow you sell fluff in place of the right stuff. 13 Likes 2 Shares |

modath: They told the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation that 47 airlines had folded up in the last 30 years owing to the unfavourable operating environment. This is supposed to be a harmless report to vet the situation that almost brought the entire system to a halt.. I wouldn't comprehend your outburst over the issue.. This report was presented to the house by people who supposedly possess the right information.. Th report never mentioned 10 or five years.. It actual highlighted 30.. 22 Likes 1 Share |

CHIJIOKE1314: Are we even debating the potential to cause harm of this report? Which we both know is the underlying and specific intention but unfortunately some of us do take time to read and are not wet behind the ears.. we know how Nigeria came to be at its present bus stop. I only asked that the proof of the grounded airlines be provided for balance sake , since we get inundated with figures every time but to show proof becomes a problem... You brought paymasters in to cast aspersion on my character since you can't flaw my point... If you look closely at the article, It has a lot of contradictions, you highlighted 30yrs.. When did the country start having major forex issues? How many of these airlines grounded themselves through ineptitude & horrible business strategies? When was NAMA that is giving them "problems" established? 5 Likes 1 Share

modath: Take it easy, don't you think you are over stretching the matter? First, it wasn't me that 'highlighted' the 30yrs.. Secondly, the report did not point out the reasons for the said fold-ups.. Again, establishment of NAMA has no bearing with the time airlines started operations in Nigeria.. Looking at the brighter side: this particular news isn't the main report presented to the house.. You are too clever to know the original report must have been detailed enough and may likely and surprisingly answer most of your questions.. Let's not dabble into matters that may confuse those looking upto us for a more concise analysis issue as important as this.. I apologise for my earlier vituperation on ur 'character'.. Good morning! 7 Likes |

CHIJIOKE1314: I'll take it... It's ok.. Good morning to you too.... Should have ended but just have to add... Most Naija owned airlines could have survived despite the harsh conditions (we know how this country is for EVERYONE) if not for their business models... Dana airline had a much publicized crash & what did they do on their return? Slashed their prices to attract people back to them, they knew keeping strictly to same pricing point they were would do them no good, when confidence gradually returned, they've been subtly increasing their prices... Arik saw long queue and increased their price by more than 50% while people were watching them do it, simply cos it was late and some cancellations, some walked away and probably will never fly them again.. Wish i had enough words to rationally detail experiences with Aero, Virgin Nigeria, I don't have lady like words and day just break, so i will kwayet so that i don't hurl invective... 5 Likes 2 Shares |

BossKratos: Obviously, you have you own challanges.. It's very unfortunate that it doesn't allow you enjoy mornings... I didn't create the news, I only copied and pasted it on this board.. So it could only be in your troubled morning that those facts were actually 'remixed'.. Modath complained I did a pointer on his/her character which obviously wasn't part of rational declaim.. They told the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation that 47 airlines had folded up in the last 30 years owing to the unfavourable operating environment. Not all of them folded up due to bad policies nor unfavourable operating environment. The business model and environment of the 20th and the 21st century have really changed from the classical and mechanical model to a more flexible model as a result of the dynamics of the new business environment not forgetting the influence of globalisation of the market, customers/clients, suppliers et al. Some of them companies folded up because their management were competing in a dynamic environment using a static and archaic management model. Same reason Nokia and Blackberry are being shown the exit door while Apple returned stronger. They refused to change, hence change (replaced) changed them. They refused to give consumers what they want instead tried forcing what they think consumers need on them. The 21st century business is driving by what the consumers want and not what the companies think consumers want. You do not think, you engage the consumers. Thinkers are always shown the exit door. 3 Likes 1 Share |
