Against a team that we should have beaten by more and we also handed them their first ever goal at that stage.
Haba bros, How can you just forget that we laboured for a draw in Liberial. They almost defeated us there. They made us look ordinary in Liberia.

The Liberian team (The Lone Stars) made things so difficult for us in their country such that, we were not even so sure of defeating them in Nigeria.
The Lone Stars were coming to beat us on our home soil.

I was not expecting the Super Eagles to defeat them by such a big goal margin.

We were so happy with the win.

The presence of Mikel stabilized the mid field and V. Moses run riot of the lone stars.

I can still recal how Ahmed Musa dribbled himself with the ball and fell down without the opponents drawing close grin

Ok. You are right then because the game against Tahiti is the most recent.

Yea I now remember. Don't know why the ''sweet victory'' against the lone stars came so quickly.

The forward capped a beautiful display to score his first English topflight goal in the Foxes victory against the Eagles on Saturday

Ahmed Musa scored his first English Premier League goal in Leicester City’s 3-1 victory against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

His strike and that of Shinji Okazaki and Christian Fuchs were all Claudio Ranieri’s men needed to silence the visitors at the King Power Stadium – which ended their three matches winless run.

The Nigerian combined well with Islam Slimani to fire a powerful shot past goalkeeper Steve Mandanda from outside the area.

However, he was replaced by Demarai Gray in the 81st minute.
It was the 24-year-old’s first strike in six English topflight appearances for the Foxes since his move from CSKA Moscow for a club record fee.

The victory takes Leicester City to the 13th position with 11 points from nine games. They face Tottenham Hotspur in their next outing at the White Hart Lane on October 29.

W/C Qualifier: Super Eagles Needs Moses, Success For Algeria Tie - Pascal

Augustine Akhilomen

www.nairaland.com/attachments/4390975_patrickpascal_jpeg25ab3202e588efae2e6ed5497bf8fe88
Ex international, Patrick Pascal has urged the Nigeria Football Federation not to stop Super Eagles technical adviser, Genort Rohr from extending an invitation to the duo of Victor Moses and Isaac Success for next month's 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Desert Foxes of Algeria slated for the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, in Uyo.

It was reported in some media that the Glass House are planning to suspend Moses and Success for failing to honour their invitation for the team's match against Zambia which they won 2-1. ‎

However, there are concerns in the football caucus that taking such an action won't be the best move for the team right now.

This was further made clear by Super Eagles team coordinator, Pascal, who was part of the team prior to the 1998 World Cup hosted in France. He‎ told soccernet.com.ng that the team needs their best players to conquer the Desert Foxes in Uyo.

"It's amazing that the Nigeria Football Federation are planning to stand in the way of the Super Eagles technical adviser, Genort Rohr from inviting Victor Moses and Isaac Success against Algeria.

To be frank, I don't really think they are really taking the matter seriously even though I read it in the media that they want to ban Moses and Success," Pascal told Soccernet.com.ng.

"Anyway, we should always be careful with the way we handle issues that could directly or indirectly have effect the cohesion and progress of the team. What we need now is our best players and I believe presently Moses and Success are not playing badly for their respective clubs in England.

"Perhaps, some people may be blowing false trumpet just to gain media attention, something which I don't think is necessary at this point of the qualifying campaign for the Super Eagles," he said.

REVEALED: The Five Super Eagles Players In Danger Of Missing Out Of The Squad For Algeria Tie

Close sources to the coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr have revealed to Owngoalnigeria.com, that as many as five players are on the brink of being omitted from the list of players for the Algeria tie.

We gathered the manager has read the riot act to his players and made it clear to them, that he will only call players who will add depth and value to the team, insisting that the era of trying players is over.

Rohr will from the tie against Algeria call up players, who are ready to push his first choice options for a spot as he aims to re-introduce competition for spots into the team.

To that effect names like Musa Mohammed, Jamiu Alimi, Nosa Igiebor, Kingsley Madu and Shehu Abdullahi have all been penciled down as potential casualty.

Alimi has failed to step up his game, since making the bench in Rohr’s first game as coach against Tanzania. He failed to make the most of Leon Balogun absence through injury as Kenneth Omeruo was preferred ahead of him in the game against Tanzania.

Igiebor and Shehu are also battling for their national team career under the German, as the emergence of Anderson Esiti who got the nod ahead of the duo when the coach wanted to make a midfield substitution, has put them on the outer.

Madu on his part has failed to push Elderson Echiejile for the left back slot of the team and already, the scout for a credible back up has been instigated by the coach.

Musa who was handed his debut by the manager is not getting games in Turkey for high flying Istanbul Basaksehir, a situation which lead to his axing in the game against Zambia.

Exclusive: Super Eagles Stars Eddy Onazi, Kingsley Madu On The Radar Of Paris Saint-Germain

There is a possibility that Nigeria internationals Eddy Onazi and Kingsley Madu will move to the French Ligue 1 in the near future.

Representatives of Paris Saint-Germain have extensively scouted the Trabzonspor midfielder and Zulte Waregem left wing-back in 2016, and have sent their recommendations to the higher-ups at the Parc des Princes.

“We are looking at senior players like Ogenyi who is currently at Trabzonspor and a relatively unknown Kingsley Madu who is a defender in Belgium.

“Both players are on our radar, ” a PSG scout told allnigeriasoccer.com.

Onazi is tied to Turkish side Trabzonspor until the summer of 2020, while Madu has a contract with Zulte Waregem until the end of the 2018-2019 season.

Exclusive : Hoffenheim, ADO Den Haag Defenders Akpoguma, Ebuehi Not Under Consideration For Algeria Match

Suggestions thatHoffenheim loaneeKevin Akpoguma and ADO Den Haag right fullback Tyronne Ebuehi are being considered for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Algeria are false.

Representatives of the Nigeria Football Federation have previously sounded out Akpoguma over the possibility of playing for Nigeria at senior level but have gone cold on the idea after he rejected their advances.

“The two players Akpoguma and Ebuehi will not be invited for the World Cup qualifier with Algeria, the coach (Rohr) plans to make very few changes to the squad that faced Zambia, ” a top Nigeria Football Federation insider told
allnigeriasoccer.com.

“Ebuehi first has to break into the first team of his club before thinking of a call up to the national team.”

Indeed, Tyronne Ebuehi has to establish himself in the first team squad of ADO Den Haag before he is considered for the Super Eagles, with the 20-year-old playing only 26 games to date in all competitions since he made his debut.

He was born in Haarlem to a Dutch mother and a Nigerian father.

We already knew they would not be part of the Algeria game. They obviously are players for the future.

However, with the rumours of the possible dropping of Shehu Abdulahi and Musa Mohammed including Alimi and Madu there is a possibility that a new crop of defenders would be invited. Balogun will be back and I suspect Amuzie too. Who would the other 2 Defenders be? A RB must definely be among them.

Seems Rohr is set to field another make-shift RB. Likely Omeruo or Balogun.

Good report. But the writer should have gone a step further by including no of goals scored by each player.

This write up just reminded me Taye Taiwo once played in the EPL for QPR.

True. Though Moses IMO should b given a starting place Success can come in as a sub. The role he would play after coming in would depend on the situation we find ourselves at that point in time in the game.

The earlier Iheanacho leaves Man City for a lesser Club, the better for him and his Career.

The Arrival of Gabriel Jesus in January would automatically demote him to a 3rd choice Striker at the Club!

He shouldn't be fighting in vain, cos he ain't as superb as Messi, when he (Messi) was at his age!

Iheanacho is a talented Player, if he doesn't want to leave a big Team, then he should seek for a Loan Move to fine-tune his Talents elsewhere and become a great Player!

Sterling is an English kid. The pressure on him is nowhere near the one on Kelechi, so Jesus is coming to relegate Kelechi, not put him on his toes. We know how players are rated in football

And game time period should be very impprtant for a young striker

I do not think Gabriel will come close to keeping Iheanacho on the bench. Iheanacho is a big part of City's pride. He is a big part of the structure the Barca execs in Manchester City want.

He is the best current export from the academy. The owner of City, Sheikh Mansour invested about £300 million pounds in the CFA. £100 million went into Infrastructural projects alone.

Every time Iheanacho plays or scores, it shows the investment is heading in the right path. City will not try to slow Nacho's growth.

So we are not getting tired of him and just extended his contract.

I believe Iheanacho can score more than 20 goals if he starts 30 games without a doubt.

Why Musa Started Ahead Of England Star
Vardy? Leicester City Boss Explains

Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri has explained why he had to bring in Super Eagles striker Ahmed Musa and Okazaki in his starting XI ahead of Three Lions ace Jamie Vardy in Saturday’s win over Crystal Palace.

The Italian manager confirmed that Vardy is not
injured as he made the bench, but he had to
start his number seven because he impressed in
training ahead of the fixture at the King Power
Stadium.

“I left out Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani at
Chelsea, and today it was Vardy. It was normal
because we have to play some many matches,”
Ranieri said.

“When you see in the training session Musa and
Okazaki in good condition then you have to put
them on the pitch.

“It wasn’t an injury because if Jamie was injured
he wouldn’t have been on the bench and come
on to play.”

While Musa has started three games in the
English top-flight so far this season, the Foxes top scorer in the 2015-2016 campaign Vardy has made the starting XI eight times.

Well, you're right Sir GoodJoe.... In Khaldoon Mubarak's interview at last season's end (during the summer) he did make special reference to Iheanacho and the City Project. smiley

But then, I understand and feel the "fears and concerns" of all in the house for Nacho's future at City which is why I brought up "Kimmich's experience with Pep Guardiola at Bayern".

There's no guarantee but I hope Pep shows the same kind of patience with Nacho as he did with Kimmich (Kimmich is now one of Bayern's unplayable stars... His natural abilities combined with Pep's work on him has turned him into a hell of a midfield player who score goals too).

Pep won't have time for you once he knows you don't have the skill-sets and potentials to play in his system. That explains why he ditched Yaya Toure and Joe Hart (who's also flopping in some games at Torino).

With Iheanacho, I repeat, Pep knows he has in Nacho a player who fits his playing philosophy perfectly but still needs to fine-tune to make him one he (pep) can always rely on week-in and week-out. He knows Nacho has "monster-qualities".

Nacho may be African and his name isn't "NACHODINHO" but he is indisputably the face of Man City's £300million CFA and the youth structure at City and I don't see Gabriel Jesus (who's all skills and showmanship) keeping Nacho away from the first team in the long run.

Ofcos, Gabriel will play coz he costs well over 20million right?? While Nacho was approx 1million... *smh* but truth be told... With time, another dimension to Nacho's game will be unearthed coz he's still focused and doing his best to absorb the lessons and knowledge from one of the world's topmost managers of all time.

Gabriel's finishing and positioning is great but Nacho's is better. Only thing Gabriel has is his outrageous fast-paced dribbling skills.

I pray the planned patience Pep wanna show with Nacho will be enough for Nacho to pick up quickly and unveil other dimensions to his game. I JUST KNOW WE HAVE ANOTHER "MESSI-LIKE" WORLD-CLASS SUPER-HYBRID ATTACKING MONSTER IN KELECHI. He should just remain focused.

Also, I kinda feel Pep trusts Nacho more than Aguero BUT IS BEING CAREFUL with how he does things. Playing Nacho ahead of Aguero against Barca would have sent a foul message but I'm certain it would have paid off.

City created lots of chances against Barca. WHAT THEY LACKED WAS A FINISHER. Now tell me, is there a better and more prolific finisher at City than Nacho right now?? I don't think so.

The chances De bruyne squandered would have been buried by Nacho or even Aguero at least once or twice.

In finality, Nacho's monster talents and his super willingness to keep working his socks off give me the total confidence that he will make his mark in much bigger ways at City. MOVING TO A LESSER CLUB IS NOT AN OPTION WHEN TRAINING WITH SOME OF THE BEST IN THE GAME AND LEARNING DAILY FROM A WORLD CLASS MANAGER.

EVEN IWOBI SAID SAME THING. He said, "A loan move would have done him harm than good because he would have missed out on the lessons he picked up when training at Arsenal with Ozil and Sanchez and also the teachings of Prof Wenger" smiley

YOU DON'T BEAT CLASS. smiley

Those crying for Nacho's change of club coz of fears and uncertainties surrounding how Pep views Nacho should hold their peace. Nacho may not be Nachodinho but he doesn't have to be. His hardwork and super willingness to keep learning and improving big-time under Pep will speak for him.

Only thing is, I hope Pep do not limit Nacho's talents as regards some aspects of Nacho's game like "shooting/curling from distance" which he showed against Southampton (last season) and Tanzania when around the box.

Pep should allow Nacho express himself more balanced with him keeping to the discipline of his (pep's) playing philosophy/system coz when Gabriel Jesus and marlos moreno lands, I wonder if Pep will cut their dribbling also..... smiley Gabriel Jesus reminds one of bits of Ronaldinho and Ronaldo de lima... And Pep didn't like Ronaldinho's style. #foodforthought

TheGoodJoe:

Don’t Allow Ehizibue And Ebuehi To Play For
Nigeria, Dutch Journalist Warns FA

Respected Dutch journalist Jermain Leitbig has
warned the country’s football authority not to
allow the talented duo of Kingsley Ehizibue and
Tyrone Ebuehi to play for Nigeria, ahead of the
Netherlands.

The duo who are eligible to play for Nigeria and
the Netherlands have been approached by
Nigeria to switch allegiance, and be a part of
manager Gernot Rohr rebuilding of the Super
Eagles.

While 21 year old Ehizibue who plays for PEC
Zwolle and is eligible to represent Germany as
well, has been capped by the Dutch at youth
level, Ebuehi who plays for ADO Den Haag is yet
to capped by either nations.

Jermain who writes online for Dutch Goal says
losing the players to other nations, will be
disservice to the system that produced them, and
past experience should make them frustrate
Nigeria’s effort to lure the duo.

” It’s a no brainer. You can’t allow players
educated in the system go like that. It will be fool
hardy to do so. We have lost some young players
to other nations in the past, who ended up
becoming super stars. We need to stop it” He told
Owngoalnigeria.com.

” The FA should in their capacity hold talks with
the duo and assure them of their plans for them.
Even if the players refuse to wait, let it be known
that they tried”.

Hmmm..... Dude got his eyes fixed on The Eagles afterall. I can feel the fire in his words smiley

I did make mention of his fine performance against Roma on thursday. I was chanced to see some good parts of the game live.
.......................................................................

I WILL KEEP SCORING GOALS TO GET INTO
EAGLES - KAYODE

Kayode Olanrewaju

Austria-based striker Olanrewaju Kayode has said he believes he will soon be called up to the Super Eagles as long as he keeps banging in the goals.

Kayode, who has already represented Nigeria at
U17, U20 and Olympic levels, has hogged the
headlines after his goals for Austria Wien in both
the UEFA Europa League as well as the Austrian
Bundesliga.

He has now scored three goals in the league, two in the Austria Cup and four in the Europa League including Thursday’s game-saving equaliser at AS Roma.

“My goals always speak for me and I believe very soon I will get the nod of the Super Eagles
coaches,” he said.

“And once I got it, I will grab it with both hands.

“If it came for the Algeria match (World Cup
qualifier in Uyo on November 12), I know it is my duty to score goals and I have to score to justify my invitation.”

His teammates from the U17s and U20s already
established full internationals include Shehu
Abdullahi, Kenneth Omeruo, Ogenyi Onazi and
Ahmed Musa.

Pep is losing home and away, Aguero can't save them, De Bruyne can't save them and fancy Sane's dribbles are doing more harm than good today, he ain't got time for patience.

I still dey watch shaa..... I have been shouting to people around me that Pep is so stubborn!!!

"Put nacho in with Aguero when looking for goals"

him no hear that one before but na now him come get small sense.....

I love the fact that Nacho is growing ever lethal and super dangerous under Pep but I dislike Pep's conservatism sometimes when it comes to doing the right thing just because he wanna keep holding the ball instead of being bold and putting in extra bodies forward.... When Nacho comes in and plays with Aguero, you will always see goals.

Pep is one of the finest technical minds in the history of the game and Nacho will become a goals monster under him BUTTTT pep dey vex me sometimes.

Ride on Nacho!!!! I wan see how Gabriel Jesus go bench you..... My super Alien Kid smiley

What is wrong with this sterling,he hardly pass ball to Iheanacho.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by ChrisKels: 3:31pm On Oct 23, 2016
46'Kelechi Iheanacho replaces De Bruyne at
the interval.

55'AND THERE'S YOUR LEVELER! Manchester
City football at it's best there. Fernandinho
switches play brilliantly for Sane, who cuts
back and picks out the run of Iheanacho who
finishes coolly first-time!

63'STAT: Kelechi Iheanacho has scored 8
times in his last 11 Premier League games
for Manchester City, and 11 goals with 17
shots on target in the top-flight.

69'STUNNING SAVE! Gundogan gets on the
end of a terrific bit of interplay from the
hosts, but Forster gets down and reaches
back to parry his effort off the line! It was
Iheanacho again who was prominent there in
the build-up.

88'CHAOS! All-out press from City here as
Ihenacho and Sterling both get into prominent
ares on the edge of the box, but neither pick
out the required final pass before Davis
blasts it clear. Anywhere will do for
Southampton now, who are selling out in
defence to try and hold onto the point.

I think 69 is exactly what Pep wants from his strikers besides goals. Nacho is doing it the Pep way. I see him excelling under Pep.

Disappointing result but a very impressive game by Nacho. From the look of things, it is a weight issue. It seems Aguero is slowing down and is not mobile enough.

Iheanacho runs a marathon when he is on the pitch. He tracks back fast. Sometimes, he takes the deep midfield position. Then you still find him in the scoring position.

Aguero worked hard too but the difference in what Nacho brings is much. During the interview before the game, Guardiola hinted that Aguero can still miss the next game.

Aguero needs to improve his work rate on the field. This was his strength. I wonder what happened.

Amazing build up move by Nacho in the game. It was an impressive performance. From the look of things, Nacho is safe but I do not think Aguero is. The arrival of Gabriel Jesus might hit Aguero and maybe Real Madrid will get their prime target. I do not see Aguero not accepting a regular run of games.

even City fans are more interested in Gabriel Jesus these days, you'd think he's little Messi the way they go on about him.

Abeg make Kelechi agent dey find better club for am low key, I trust his father sha, his son will not rot on City's bench just because his name is Kelechi and not Roberto

I have seen Gabriel Jesus and I think he is very very good but I don't think the EPL suits his style. Although, I may be wrong but how em wan take see space take dey run dey dribble for EPL without receiving a knock on his Leg?

This is no Spanish league where at any slightest touch earns you the quickest free kick.

Anyway, he has scored today and it will be difficult to drop an inform player without any reason.
