63'STAT: Kelechi Iheanacho has scored 8
times in his last 11 Premier League games
for Manchester City, and 11 goals with 17
shots on target in the top-flight.

With more starts, Iheanacho can better the statistics. The young man defines a lot of what Guardiola wants. Keep trying. Keep jumping. Keep running. Keep passing. Keep shooting

What is wrong with this sterling,he hardly pass ball to Iheanacho.
you're complaining of Sterling, what of Kun 'na only me waka come' Aguero wey no dey pass ball at all?

Sterling dey give Kelechi ball, they understand each other.

Thegoodjoe, you see as game change when Kelechi enter? Dude could have easily added 3 assists to his goal if Silva and Gundogan had converted the chances he created.

Anyway, check out their ratings by Stuart Brennaman, Kelechi got an 8

We got a clearer picture and Gundogan should bury such chances. I see the transfer window bringing in more competition.

I still wonder what Stones thought when he made that pass.

I see more drills but it is nice seeing improvement in Nacho's game. As long he keeps working hard, he will get his run soon.

I hope Aguero sorts his issue out.

Aguero disappointed me with that miss. Releasing the ball to Iheanacho early was a better option. At least Aguero showed effort.

Good observation!

69' shows again and again another huge part of Nacho's game. His Vision and ability to be involved in excellent build-up plays.

His play to release Gundogan was simply awesome but I know this is what Nacho can do and can get even monstrous at.

Like I have already stated... "PEP HAS NO QUALMS WITH PLAYING NACHO. HE ONLY HAS TO BE PATIENT WITH NACHO AND WHAT HE'S TEACHING NACHO. HE EVEN TRUSTS NACHO THAN AGUERO RIGHT NOW."

THE ONLY WAHALA IS HOW PEP WILL PLAY NACHO IN CERTAIN GAMES WHEN AGUERO IS FULLY FIT..... Pep has a decision on his hands here Coz at the moment, KELECHI IS IN MUCH BETTER FORM THAN AGUERO.

ChrisKels:
46'Kelechi Iheanacho replaces De Bruyne at
the interval.

55'AND THERE'S YOUR LEVELER! Manchester
City football at it's best there. Fernandinho
switches play brilliantly for Sane, who cuts
back and picks out the run of Iheanacho who
finishes coolly first-time!

63'STAT: Kelechi Iheanacho has scored 8
times in his last 11 Premier League games
for Manchester City, and 11 goals with 17
shots on target in the top-flight.

69'STUNNING SAVE! Gundogan gets on the
end of a terrific bit of interplay from the
hosts, but Forster gets down and reaches
back to parry his effort off the line! It was
Iheanacho again who was prominent there in
the build-up.

88'CHAOS! All-out press from City here as
Ihenacho and Sterling both get into prominent
ares on the edge of the box, but neither pick
out the required final pass before Davis
blasts it clear. Anywhere will do for
Southampton now, who are selling out in
defence to try and hold onto the point.

I think 69 is exactly what Pep wants from his strikers besides goals. Nacho is doing it the Pep way. I see him excelling under Pep.

Honestly, Nacho would have picked up one or two assists today. Your midfielders should have some finishing touch naa... Haba!!

Anyway.... Like you've observed, Nacho's workrate is "BEASTLY"... He's beginning to manifest little by little Pep's teachings and schooling on the training ground.

Nacho was born for the Pep system and can adapt in any other attacking system depending on his attributes as a no.9, no.10 and no.8 (and also as a dynamic RWF).

I said it before, Aguero is not world class, He might have a good goalscoring record but he isn't world class. his policymaking skills aren't great, his ability to play as a false nine is even worse and I seriously believe that he will follow the same way that Ronaldinho followed, hopefully Nacho will be the Pedro who benefits from that

3-4-3 caused City problems today. We had balance with four at the back. It is a system that takes time for the players to adjust and with smart tactical approach, it can suffer.

Aguero is World Class. I doubt that is even a debate. He looks troubled but we can not criticise his play in the recent past years. This is not Ronaldinho who had two to three years at the top. Aguero is over five years at City. He won the WYC golden boot and ball in 2007. This is almost nine years after.

There is a challenge but his work rate and dynamism over the years is not a debate. He is world class.

I remember a 3-page argument I had about Aguero on this page about how average Aguero is. Hope Kelechi stands up to the plate when the blind goes off Pep's eyes.

I think Pep started in a 3-2-4-1... Before switching and switching as the game wore on before ending up with Stones and Kolarov as City's only recognised defenders on-field with Fernandinho slotting in for Kompany as Navas came on.

I have executed the 3-4-3 a couple of times in my Dream league Soccer 2016 *winks* and to be honest, it can work if you pick players who can maintain the discipline of the system.

It's a system that balances direct attack with dynamic compact defence.

The 3-4-3 can work.... Although I'm not saying introduce it now ooo..... But it could be a tactical option for The Super Eagles.

We started with a 3-4-3 today and it was easy for Southampton to cause us problems. They kept seven men defending and countered with three men.

I did not say it can not work. It gets found out easily. Despite the domination of Conte with his three at the back system in Italy, he did not find it easy in the Champions League.

At the World Cup in 2014, coach played with three at the back and made some fine results. Towards the competitive end of the competition, they all parked up.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 5:06pm On Oct 23, 2016
Well, I did see 3-4-3 when the game started but I gave it my own interpretation of 3-2-4-1 (a subtle variant of the 3-4-3).

All the same shaa..... There's no absolutely invincible formation so having options and staying unpredictable can help sometimes.

He thrives like that because the whole team plays for him, which is one of the problems Pep has with him. When he's on the pitch, Silva, Bruyne, Sterling and the rest look to give him the ball. Contrast that with when Kelechi gets on the pitch, it is then that everyone of them starts playing like a striker. Aguero doesn't look for anybody. He gets the ball and always looks to score forgetting the players in better positions. Look at how that cost City the match today. Perhaps Pep will wise up.

You can say Iheanacho's style of play suits Pep's system more but you can not tag Aguero average.

Aguero thrived for long as one of the top players in the World. He picked up this season with fire. 11 goals despite three games suspension and not starting in two.

His quality and style is good. He is a top player. It is just that Pep needs more from him.

Exactly. There is an obvious case of 'pass the ball to Aguero' when he's on the pitch. He's used to being the sole goal scorer, but that ideology defeats the essence of football as a team game. This isn't tennis where you ride solo.

Notice City played their best when he was out, everyone got on the score sheet and they were executing Barcelona-styled tiki-taka.

There was a time even Barca was all about Messi, but since Suarez and Neymar came, he has learnt to pass the ball and racked up more assists than goals last season even. Aguero needs to learn too, no wonder Pep told him yo watch Suarez.

He cost City today in both halves. First, with the John Stones goal and then when he should have passed to Kelechi or Sterling

About Aguero, I have always wondered why he does not perform for Argentina. Once Messi is out, the Argentinian team can't score or win and Aguero always looks average... I noticed that there is a pass the ball to Aguero policy in Man city that does not exist in Argentina.

When Kelechi is playing, they do not pass the ball to him as they would with Aguero.

But why is it like that, does it mean they don't trust Iheanacho to score,or they don't like him to out score anybody?
Why can't the coach talk to the players involve, may b he never noticed it yet.

Finally!!!! Someone else sees the "bolded"

When Nacho leads the lines, they don't necessarily seek him out.

But when it is Aguero, they start flying those balls in from the wings and becoming inventive in their killer passes.

Really frustrating!!!! I mentioned this strongly after the last game Nacho started against Everton.

Don't mind them. It's the big player syndrome. Why pass when they think they can do something better with the ball and Kelechi does not have the clout to call their buff.

Sometimes, it's very frustrating to watch. You will see Kelechi dropping deep to call for the ball for those fantastic buildups and they just pass around him.
