excuse me what risk? bro watch kelechi's game more closely. most times when he gets the ball at the edge of the 18 his back is always to the goal how do you then want him to shot at goal? by the time he's facing goal defenders are swarming all over him so do you want him to turn to messi overnight and dribble them all?

your argument would have been logical if you brought up stats of how many passes he receives within the 18 and how many he utilizes.

Mickael2:

it shows that he doesn't take risks, Messi under Pep took risks, Xavi and Iniesta and the lot of them took risks, high risk high reward that's his game. so waiting until you are one on one with the goalkeeper to take a shot isn't Pro's game right

i don't think you have been watching alot of man city this season. most of their goals have been within the 18 yard box as a result of intricate passing football. sterling shooting? which day did you see that one? goodjoe abeg you are the manchester city person here please educate us.

Mickael2:

exactly, Pep wants his players to shoot more, De Bruyne shoots a lot and he is the only main figure of Pep's city, Sterling too is shooting more. that's what Pep wants so Iheanacho should start shooting more

Same thing I thought..... But then I was too tired to wanna change anything... So I posted it like that.

I knew whoever reads it will get the real gist.

Headline says: opens goal account..

Article says:
The goal scored by Troost-Ekong, who is the
captain of Haugesund, represents the third he
has scored for the club in the Eliteserien this
season.

He can't be opening goal account if he already has other goals.

Until Pep gives the green light he better not take any risks. We all know wat this boy can offer he just has to prove this things to his coach.

We should consider Eminike, he is doing very well for his club right now and seems to have gotten over his mental block on the pitch. This is a man who has scored big goals for Nigeria, I say why not.

You are right that City takes a lot of time before shooting. Sterling took some shots this season but most were close to goal but it is not rampant.

The philosophy is about clever build-up plays and creating spaces. So most times, we are not shooting. De Bruyne takes shots but if you watch, it is also after clever build-up plays.

Nacho has the shooting ability and license to shoot. Unfortunately, he is no more the unknown kid in the block. Defenders see him as one of the deadliest finishers in Europe and pay attention to him.

Nacho hardly gets shooting chances with players around him. What he needs is more confidence from his team-mates. This will increase his chances to shoot and raise his shooting frequency.

Very bad name because it makes it look as if all Nacho does is wait in the box to tap in shots. That is far from what Nacho does and his last goal highlights it.

When Sane received the cushioned pass from Fernandinho, Iheanacho was far behind Sane and there were some Southampton players in front of him.

Nacho's electrifying pace and quick thinking made him reach that position and give Sane the best option to lay the pass.

Sane and Nacho were brilliant for the goal. That was no tap in goal.

Tap in's are not easy if not everybody will have 50 goals like Ronaldo. U still have to get in the position which is not easy, then when u get the ball u have to score. How many tap in's did Sterling miss last year just against liverpool? Most nicknames are made to make fun of the person but it is on u to make it a special name.

Such a name will take the shine off his all-round qualities as a super forward.

Abeg... He has names already...

He's called "THE ALIEN KID" by me and a few others. smiley

He's also called "THE ICE-MAN"... Bluemoon Cityzens will tell u more wink

He's also called "The Super Raumdeuter"... That's german for "Space investigator" smiley hence, the super space investigator.

These three names showcase Nacho's abilities.

ABEG NO SUGGEST THAT KAIN NAME AGAIN!!!! *frowns*

I'm in support of this.
I think we need to be careful with extending invitations to our ex(retired) footballers just in d name of fortifying d team.

Let dem stay away from d national team so de can give room for d young, energetic and passionate ones to come in.

I don't even see dem bringing anything new to d table. Unless if you want to disorganise d team cohesion. Na so we go de hear news on captaincy, one player de form boss for camp. Lagbaja tells Rohr: this is Nigeria and it has to be done nigerian way, Who is Mr. X? Where was Mr. X when we won d AFCON?...and so on. Simply because e don spend so much time in d national team. E go come form an historian...

Thanks so much for the detailed description.

THAT WAS INDEED NO TAP-IN GOAL.... HABA!!!! Several strikers will not convert that or even have the awareness to "attack the space" that got Nacho that goal.

NACHO IS A DEADLY SPACE INVESTIGATOR... A RAUMDEUTER LIKE THOMAS MUELLER BUT IS MUCH MUCH MUCH MORE TECHNICALLY GIFTED THAN MUELLER.

His quick-thinking, Total awareness, High class Football IQ, Vision and positioning are just some of the qualities he possesses that stand him out.

Yesterday Sterling felt he was Messi and kept on ignoring Iheanacho's runs for the final ball. I get angry at my guy KDB cuz sometimes he just looks the other way. Silva only looks for him after all is lost. The only guys i trust as of now are Sane and Navas.
Leave them,City will soon replace most of them with new players, then Iheanacho will b among the old players. Gebriel Yesus will soon come n replace either Sterling or Aguero.
Though people r afraid Iheanacho would b the victim, but his position is secured because Gebriel Yesus will b played as a winger or attacking midfielder/SS

Agree. Gabriel Jesus does not consider himself a point man but a winger.

Ruud Van Niisterooy and Inzaghi was tap-in merchants but it takes intelligence to get into the right position. Kelechi is showing that intelligence.

I would argue that it shows his lack of inventiveness, as a striker you need to be taking shots not being conservative, seventeen shots on target from eleven games isn't a good return
would u prefers a player that takes 70 shots n converts 7 to a player who takes 17 shots n converts 11?

Ruud boy and Pipo Inzaghi never came close to having Kelechi's football IQ as an allround forward.

They were never and could never be involved in build-up plays.

They were the perfect tap-in merchants... Now does that look like Kelechi to you?

That is why the tap-in name does not fit Nacho. His work rate and build-up play is amazing.

He helps build-up plays and the gets into space to convert the chances. His talent is unbelievable. Frightening because the signs show he will improve under Guardiola.

At the moment, i would rank both higher than Kelechi. Inzaghi perfected the art of staying on the shoulder of the last defender. Kelechi still needs to learn that.

Kelechi is just 20. He has a lot to learn but is already better than Nistelrooy and Inzaghi ever were at build-up plays.

Kelechi also knows how to play his team mates in and shows keen invention to create/set up chances.

Ruud boy and Pipo never dared try that. DEM NO FIT.

So they are only better at what a 9 "naturally/typically" does.... But Kelechi is still rising. His allround game is still being forged.

I can assure you that tap-ins are not easy to score. It takes mastery...a type of mastery that makes strikers legends. Gary Lineker, Hernan Crespo, Andrew Cole, Ian Rush, Filipo Inzaghi, and Ruud van Nistelrooy are strikers that became classical scoring tap-ins. Any player should be glad to be in that elite group. But the good thing is that we know he scores more than tap-ins. Nothing bad about it.

1. His goal against Stoke city where he beat the keeper in that 4-0 win (he scored two goals in that game). **holds cane**

2. His goal against Southampton from just slightly outside the box that beat forster hands down... The goal that attracted the words, "OHHH... *silence followed*... This boy is something special" from the official matchday commentator (he scored two in that game too). *soaks cane in kerosene*

3. His wicked goal against Tottenham in City's 1-2 loss. That goal was no tap-in... It was a wicked showcase of "I know where and how to place it.. It matter not how many bodies are in the way". He fooled Lloris and the defenders when he directed the ball upwards and not downwards as that's why the defenders slid in...

**places cane in fire**

Now Sir.... Na moi-moi goals be these ba??

Wrong! It highlights wat he is doing at the moment. I always tell players not to shy away from wat they are good at just in the name of proving they can also do other things. To me it means goals, like Pep said when u give the ball to Iheanacho he scores.

IHEANACHO IS TOP OF THE SCORING CHARTS IN EUROPE

Kelechi Iheanacho came off the bench at half-
time to rescue a point for Manchester City against Southampton, finding the net with his only shot on target on Sunday in the EPL.

That is typical of the Nigerian, who has 11 goals
from 17 attempts on target in his Premier League career – the best conversion rate of any player in Europe’s major leagues since his debut in August 2015.

His latest strike means the 20-year-old has eight goals in his past 11 league matches.

Nothing bad about the title. A young player who plays in a similar style will feel glad about getting that title.

However, it is a very bad name when we look at the qualities of Iheanacho. There was a time on the game against Southampton where he took the deep-lying position. I shook my head. That is a striker with players like Sane in front of him.

A player like that can not receive the title as a tap-in merchant. He falls deep, build-up plays and sprints at an electrifying pace to get into position for the pass.

Niisterooy and Co. we're not close to that. A commentator once said that Niisterooy's wing is the goal post.

The walls have ears.
If you guys do not put an end to this 'tap-in merchant' discussions now I won't be surprises if another blog picks it up from here and it becomes news and gets stuck on the poor boy as a nick name.

People can be mean really.
Against Tanzania he scored with a sweet volley shot outside the 18. Against Zambia, he rounds the keeper and scores. Are those tap ins as well?

Mancity's style of play forces team to defend with almost 10 men behind the ball. As such Nacho is mostly always surrounded by defending players. You need to see Nacho in an open game or on a counter attack to appreciate more of his qualities, passing genius and ability to bring others into play.
