Hello good people.....so had my precious bundle on the 24th of October in Emory University Midtown Hospital Atlanta. Was initially meant to use Dr Andrews and Northside, but due to my leg cast (it extends from thigh to toes) every single obgyn I talked to in Atlanta recommended a section at 39 weeks. I'm all for taking medical advice but I felt I could do a VD. so my host asked me to contact one Dr Joseph Tate.Apparently he is the VBAC guru of atlanta.Sent him a mail explaining my medical and gynaecological history. He replied immediately- it would be uncomfortable, he would prepare for an emergency CS, but he saw no reason why we shouldn't try.Met him a week later.Hes a nice little man, very full of jokes.not everyone's cup of tea I guess but we hit it off immediately and I felt comfortable in my decision. My family and hosts changed me to constant prayer point o.Fear was catching them. Me I just dey gentle and watched plenty Netflix and ate plenty food, exercised with my walking frame and waited for labor.Labor was......suffice to say I delivered like a Hebrew woman as my mama will say. Started having contractions in the morning, irregular and not painful so thought It was BH. Then around 5pm got more painful, still irregular. My host was in church, called and she rushed home.called Dr tates office.Contractions got very hard and fast in the car.Got to the hospital by 7pm, entered the delivery suite by 7.20- slight drama ensued when the registration desk was dilly dallying and I announced I would have my baby right there. Delivered baby by 7.40.no epidural, no time to worry about my leg.
Cost breakdown so far
Dr fee- 1500 after 35 weeks,2000 before 35 weeks
Tests- 100 accepts naija tests
Hospital- 3900 inclusive of paediatrician in hospital, hearing test, pku
Starting documentation next week.Atl mamas show me the way o
God has been sooooooo faithful to me.
My host has been AWESOME.

U can only buy 4000$ at a time per quarter. Either whole or part. As in, u can buy $4000 from bank or travelex but u can't buy again dat quarter. Or u can split it. $2000 here n there. E.g. Assuming u didn't hav d entire cash at d time of applying for one. Hope dat helps.
chloe7:
TripleKMama kindly ease my confusion before I confuse my sister here, can I buy at travelex and still buy from bank, or I have to choose from one of the above.

Am so sorry about your plight, it has happened to so many people I know....including me. People can like to act up at the last minute.

I am wondering when you are to get to NY, is it possible to get someone to send you Western Union or MG so that you can have money for hotel?

Please anyone who can assist with the above request?

So I am here to give my own testimony. The lord has done it for my family at last. Husband and I went to lagos embassy today. And our interview went thus:
Vo: Good morning
Dh and I: Good morning
Vo: Passport Please
Dh: Presented the Passport
Vo: What do you want to go and do in USA
Dh: Give birth to our child to access state of art maternity care.
Vo: What do you do:
Dh: Hubby answered and mentioned the equipment he used
Vo: Ask me same question
Dw: bleep... Work in Nigeria and mentioned the other country and state all the job responsibilities bla bla bla
Vo: How much is your budget
Me: mentioned the amount excluding accommodation.
Vo: Ask about my husband first degree and other qualifications
Dh: He bleeped it.
Vo: Ask me when I joined my organization
Me: Bleep
Vo: Ask about the hospital and the doctor we are using
Dh and I: La, and we told him the doctor name.
Vo saw that at my last interview in Accra that I mentioned I was ICT manager and I told him it's the same just b function as IT manager. Then he started typing profusely and he asked us is this our first child we both answered Yes and he smiled congrats . The next word is "CONGRATS PICK UP YOUR VISA AT THE DESIGNATED BLA BLA BLA. Then he advised to take all documents necessary to Poe and all.

Na so me and my husband dey dance and dey greet everybody sheepishly.

I think you should ask someone to book a hotel close to the airport from Nigeria for you. Some of these hotel booking sites still quote in Naira and the person can send you the booking details through your email so you can present at the hotel. That seem to be the suggestion i can come up with especially because this is a faceless forum and you may not be able to guarantee your safety even with the one night with a complete stranger. goodluck.

Thank you so much for concern....DH is already sorting it out from Nigeria.I guess it was out of confusion and frustration that I rushed here forgetting the "faceless" aspect of the forum. Especially becos we have had so many disappointments during this babymission journey..
Once again thank you so much... smileyI really do appreciate your concern.
