blueto: Based on ur argument Mikel should not even be on the 24-man list. Ideye that did not even attempt any shot on goal against Zambia. I have known Ighalo for ages and also Ideye. I know what each can bring to the table. 1 Like |

CORRUPTION CHARGES: EFCC, ICPC swoop on NFF, 2 top officials get bail by Samm Audu AfricanFootball.com can exclusively reveal that two top officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have been granted bail as the country’s anti-corruption agencies have now swooped on allegations of financial malpractices in the football house. Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade has already hit top government officials, politicians, the top military brass and most recently the judiciary. And in the last two weeks the dreaded Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) have pointed their search light on the NFF. They are probing a wide-range of allegations – from sponsorship earnings, the structures and relationships between the NFF and the League Management Company (LMC) as well as contract awards particularly as it concerns the relocation of the NFF head office in Abuja. There are also unconfirmed reports that the probe has been extended to FIFA prize money from the 2010 World Cup, which has caused former top guns of the NFF to be questioned recently. “The finances of the NFF are now under full investigation by both the EFCC and the ICPC and already two top officials, a management staff and a top accounting staff, have been bailed,” a highly placed source informed only AfricanFootball.com “Many officials have been quizzed over several allegations. “This probe has been long in coming because despite the financial support the NFF have received from the government, it appears it has been going down the drain so much so that the federation’s finances are now in a big mess. “Can you imagine that the government had to bail out the NFF with 100 million Naira for the Super Eagles to turn up for the World Cup qualifier in Zambia earlier this month.” There has no proper accounting of revenue from sponsorships, a fact Senate President Bukola Saraki pointed out to the NFF president when he made a last-ditch bid for the country’s parliament to intervene for government to come to the rescue with much-needed cash for the Zambia match. A top official of the NFF marketing department was in Lagos on behalf of the president, who was summoned to defend the sponsorship accounts of the federation. More startling details of the anti-corruption drive in the country’s football house are expected to surface in the coming days. http://africanfootball.com/news/659843/CORRUPTION-CHARGES-EFCC-ICPC-swoop-on-NFF-2-top-officials-get-bail 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Leicester City boss speaks on Ahmed Musa's suicidal goal Ahmed Musa (right) celebrates his first Premier League goal against Crystal Palace Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has saluted the bravery of Ahmed Musa after his goal salvaged a point at high-flying Tottenham Hotspur. Nigeria forward Ahmed Musa was almost suicidal when he put his body on the line before grabbing a 48th minute equaliser at Spurs on Saturday for his second straight Premier League goal. Ranieri applauded the effort of the Nigeria star. "Musa is a good player and slowly starting to understand the premier league. He saw the ball arrive and was very strong,” he hailed. Ahmed Musa, who dedicated his first Premier League goal to his wife, failed to score in his first five league appearances for Leicester to raise suggestions he could well be heading back to former Russian club CSKA Moscow. Champions Leicester are now 11th on the table with 12 points after 10 games having won three matches, drawn four and lost three. http://africanfootball.com/news/659818/Leicester-City-boss-speaks-on-Ahmed-Musa-s-suicidal-goal 1 Like |

Ifeanyi Matthew plays again as 'emergency right back' in bitter derby in Norway Ifeanyi Matthew (left) in action for Norwegian club Lillestrom Versatile Ifeanyi Matthew will likely play again as a makeshift right back in tonight’s crucial derby against bitter local rivals Valerenga due to the injuries that have ravaged his team Lillestrom. Matthew played at right back in his team’s last game, a 1-1 draw with IK Start. Interestingly, the former Kano Pillars and El Kanemi Warriors star also slotted into that position at the 2013 African Junior Championship in Morocco. He could also play as a defensive or central midfielder. Tonight’s game is finely poised as Lillestrom are battling to escape relegation, while Valerenga appear to have already survived as they have 34 points. Lillestrom are on 30 points and 12th on the table, but both Bodo/Glimt and Tromso, who are in the relegation playoff bracket, also have 30 points with two matches to the end of the season. http://africanfootball.com/news/659822/Ifeanyi-Matthew-plays-again-as-emergency-right-back-in-bitter-derby-in-Norway 1 Like |

Icon4s: I do not like Echiejile's style of play and he might be the best selected. However, after this game, Rohr must get a better cover for the back. We can not continue this way. We expect the left side of the central defence to put in a full shift covering the massive gaps left by Echiejile. That means he is not good enough. I really hope Madu has improved. Not watched much of him but we need a bit of freshness. |

TheGoodJoe: I sincerely hope we can get a better player also or Echiejile improves. Kinglsey Madu for now is not the better option. |

TheGoodJoe: Brian Idowu and Ebuehi have played left back multiple times this season. They are possible options in the future. |

Icon4s: Mikel is not having a “questionable” form at Chelsea, he hasn't feature in any game this season, so it will be a prejudgement to appraise his form as questionable. It is simply Conte's decision to omit him. As long as he keeps impressing Rohr in trainings and preperatory matches, then he should have his way. |

TheSuperNerd: That was not a 3-4-3 set up but a 4-2-3-1. ......................................Bravo Fernando..........Stones........Otamendi.........Kolarov ................Fernandinho.............Gundogan ......................................Silva .......Sterling................................................Nolito ....................................Aguero I was most impressed with Fernando who despite not known for speed, out up a brilliant cover at the Right back role. His part in the build up to the first goal was brilliant. |

Nnaa, I watched the extended highlights of that Kelechi Nwakali's club match, and boy what a classy player....The way he touches the boy effortlessly is so beautiful, his dribbles and passes. Kelechi Nwakali is definitely the most talented Nigerian at present. No wonder Arsenal snatched him up so quickly. I am so elated at his development...His attacking qualities are coming out. Lad is a goldmine. 4 Likes |

Icon4s: I doubt Ighalo is impressing in training. He has lots of work to do to discover his form. It is hard to find Mikel's touch and class in the Market. |

Icon4s: That is why Nacho stays front. After this game, I hope Rohr invites Aluko to battle for the ten role. Mikel keeps the deep-lying role until K. Nwakali, Ifeanyi Matthew and Obinna Nwobodo grow bear-bear. |

TheGoodJoe: Iheanacho's role as an AM/SS is more important to me than as a CF. Attacking Midfielders and Supporting strikers do more damage these days than the CFs. |

TheGoodJoe: Aluko does not have the kind of creativity to fit into this current setup. Iwobi can play the number 10. We have so many wings options that can take over Iwobi's wing position. 1 Like |

Icon4s: Aluko does. I can assure that. One of the best skillers we have today. His passing is brilliant. You need to review his games under Keshi. He is good at soaking pressure, playing under it and passing too. He can make runs from the AMF to support the attack and score too. |
