Without borrowing up to $30bn, and crude oil price less than $20, our men in khaki were able to build great national assets listed below for our generation. were they really corrupt? Aluminum Smelter Company of Nigeria - Ikot Abasi Iron Ore mining company -Itakpe, kogi state Ajaokuta steel company, Ajaokuta- kogi state Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas Company - Bonny Island 4 Refineries National theatre - Lagos 28, 000 duplexes estate, Gwarinpa-Abuja Specialist hospitals in each state of Nigeria Festac Estate in Lagos Tin Can Wharf - Lagos Such amount spent to move Hqtrs to Abuja 3rd mainland bridge 12 Likes 3 Shares

afanide: Gosh this section have been destroyed by these kids. Always on the attack even without understanding poo of what they a re dabling into. Look at how this one just showed his low comprehension skills, just because he is ever ready to attack the government, even when it is senselessly. Now go back to what the OP wrote, read again, and edit the piece of garbage u wrote. *Spits* @ OP, i think crude oil deals and swap. The funny thing most of the infrastructure we are still enjoying today was actually built by the military. What democracy have brought is compound looting, and zero infrastructure. 39 Likes 4 Shares |

Thank you! A whole lot of the infrastructure we have, including those crumbling, shut down or moribund for lack of maintenance or sheer incompetence by successive democratic governments, were built by the military governments. Democracy has bequeathed little but ridiculously expensive governments, waste, profligacy and incompetence. When are we ever going to get things right? The military ' s human rights abuses still leave a sour taste in the mouth. But they got a whole lot more done than these clowns in government, PDP and APC, who are too busy playing the game of politics to actually get much work done. 16 Likes 1 Share |

Propaganda. You have forgotten that the North ruled Nigeria the most and they did NOTHING for Nigeria. Even Kainji Dam that claimed to supply all our electricity since the 60's before gas plants at Egbin, is a total scam and non existent. The only safari wildlife park built in Nigeria (Yankari, Bauchi) is also a fraud and a figment of the imagination of those abokkiis. All those assets were really built by the Togolese. 12 Likes 3 Shares |

richidinho: The contract to build the Warri refinery (which you must be referring to) was awarded in 1975 to Snamprogetti Spa of Milan , Italy. Gowon was president from 1 August 1966 – 29 July 1975. Murtala came after. OBJ only commissioned it in 1978. 4 Likes |

As noted by posters above, democracy has brought Nigeria unimaginable backwardness. Give me a set of sincere military men any day anytime. Democracy, in its present form, has got NOTHING GOOD to offer Nigeria. Our politicians have mastered how to manipulate the system. 10 Likes |

QuotaSystem:OBJ didn't 'just' commission, he activated the contact. But your point is noted... Those who claimed the north did nothing for Nigeria are nothing but dunces. If Gowon had sited the refinery elsewhere, OBJ wld av activated it, ' elsewhere'. 4 Likes |

The OP forgot the following; Ajaokuta Steel Complex DICON (Defence manufacturers) Kainji Dam Kaduna Textiles Yankari Game Reserve 1st Generation Universities... The fact is that we have largely wasted our years of democratic governance to corruption with impunity and this credit goes to the PDP and the OBJ however retains the credit for midwifing the emergence of mobile GSM communication in this country which has revolutionalized our national life. 6 Likes 1 Share |

vedaxcool: That is a fact. Democracy is not organised neither is it cheap. Democracy relies on 10 people coming to a consensus on a decision 3-4 well informed individuals can make. 1 The ill discipline of democrats world wide and self serving nature of politicians also makes it impossible for the best interests of the people to be served even in progressive advanced countries the politicians are same it is just the judicial system is there to keep things in check 6 Likes |

Nice line of thought. Just maybe some people who are ready to die for all these corrupt politicians will hear the voice of reasoning. With all these points, raised by the Op and other Nairalanders in the comments, it's safe to say that Democracy is not fit for Nigeria @ all. 1 Like |

op, you no add all the major highways dem, imagine sey na democracy regime wan build 3rd mainland? i still prefer military regime or monarchy in nigeria than this nonsense democracy, democracy is a deceit, it gives you false hope by telling you to come for dialogue to make your voice heard, even when they know they are not ready to do it, eg, PIB, if na military regime, na 2month maximum for it to become law or be thrown out 3 Likes 1 Share |

there is also the issue of human right abuse, except cases sponsored by the state, the police or any security agency will not abuse you for whatsoever, nothing like roger that, because the process of getting punished isnt the same with democracy that's cumbersome, and we have also witnessed numerous cases of abuse during democracy here in nigeria. 1 Like |

Because military rule is cheap and devoid of due process. No senate, no reps, no councilors, no PAs and all the leakages that have to do with democracy. Our democracy is heading to 18 years and we are yet to achieve 1/3rd of the infrastructures put in place by the military despite enjoying 7 years of mega oil boom between 2006 and 2014. 2 Likes |
