OlujobaSamuel:Dude b careful wt u wish 4. D reason y democracy seems nt 2 work in Nigeria is either of these 2 things. First cld b dt true democracy isn't practiced in Nigeria. It is only in name. Wt we hv is an oligarchy camouflaged as democracy. D 2nd is dt d pple r directly or indirectly sabotaging democracy. Democracy is only a manifestation of d pple it governs. Abraham Lincoln wasn't spouting poetry when he called it d "government by d pple, of D pple & 4 d pple". When u hv a largely ignorant electorate making decisions based on sentimentality, ethnicity, nepotism or religious leanings, instead of practical in depth review & examination of D plans brought forward by d vying candidate, wldnt d leaders be tinged in d same character exhibited by those who brought dem in? U expect democracy 2 work in an environment where som1 wld sell his vote 2 D highest bidder? Democracy is a mirror of ourselves & society. It gives us a magnified reflection of who we r as a pple, warts & all. B brutally honest with ur self, dnt u c d greed, avarice, egoism, disregard 4 d welfare of odas & oda vices our leaders r famous 4 bein perpetuated albeit on a smaller scale by pple around u (somtyms even u & me myself r guilty of dem)? When som1 can wt out qualms drop a sachet water wrapper on d road wt out considering dt it is non biodegradable waste & dt it can block d drainage & cause flooding which cld kill som1, wld u b suprised when dt person enta a position of power & exhibits dt same behaviour of non regard 4 d welfare of odas & a lack of awareness of d long term consequences dt actions hv? D only difference a military govt wld hv is dt only d head of state & his inner ring of soldiers, sycophants, family, frnds & cronies wld b d 1s benefitting 4rm d looting. |

gemale:all this true federal system, true democracy, etc, i dont believe in them, which one is false? so many different form of democracy, so i dont believe in the concept of true this or that, Also you mentioned people not allowing democracy to work, that is the major point, saboteurs in autocracy and monarchy is very insignificant unlike democracy, a nonoffice holder is ready to do and undo, eg tompolo, late adedibu. The major disadvantage of autocracy and monarchy is abuse and not letting voice of the people be heard, which are merits of democracy, alas, here in our clime, they are not just disadvantages, but bigger disadvantages compared to that of the military era. i have a very strong conviction that either of those two system can be modify to check abuse and also create a way to dethrone or remove the occupant if he is deemed to be on dooms path. There is no evil done by the military that the civilians we have now are not doing worse. |

TonyeBarcanista: I didn't, because the people challenging the result (PDP) were busy telling everyone they had won the election as they were busy thumb printing throughout the night. I voted for APGA TonyeBarcanista: I didn't have much interest in politics then. TonyeBarcanista: When we separate do or die from politics, the masses voice will start to count. |

LordAdam:China and Sing. was turned around through autocratic means, what do you have to say about that? you are making it sound as though those systems are other names for the devil. The last i checked, all are with pro & cons, yet our democracy is even sharing the disadvantages of those systems. 1 Like |

OlujobaSamuel: I said countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Because you made it sound like democracy cannot work in Africa. Communism is working in China but it is not working in North Korea (same Asia). Dictatorship worked for Singapore, but democracy worked for Hong Kong and South Korea (same Asia). So democracy can work in Nigeria if it is working in Kenya, Botswana, Ghana. We just have to tweak the system to work for us. Everyone here will agree that the first republic when we had three regions headed by three sages (Ahmadu Bello, Awolowo, and Azikiwe) was the best period of Nigerian history followed by the 16 years of democratic rule in 1999 till date. If the military had not bleeped things up, Nigeria would have been a model state by now. -Lord |

thedarksider: We are already in a democracy. N I'm one of the vocal proponents for restructuring and adopting full-on federal democracy. It's you that want monarchy or dictatorship that needs to emigrate. Because those forms of governments are gone for good. OBJ tried it and failed. Buhari is trying it and it WILL fail. -Lord |

Those Assets were built at higher Costs than were realistic. The Military consumed the difference on women and personal aggrandizement. This is why Buhari must supply detailed costs structure for the $30million loan he is requesting. |
Re: How Did The Corrupt Millitary govts Managed To Build These National Assets? by LordAdam: 8:48am On Nov 04, 2016 |
thedarksider: It's the wrong form of democracy, that's why it is a zoo. But we can't throw the baby away with the baby water. That we're even talking about changing our form of democracy is commendable. We can make it better. You want a complete system overhaul. And that is simply not possible. -Lord |

OlujobaSamuel: We already have monarchies and autocracies in sub-Saharan Africa. If you are saying that those forms of government would be better than democracy for Nigerians, then you should show that other countries in the same region (sub-Saharan Africa) are doing fine with either form of government. If you can't show that, then your hypothesis is flawed. -Lord |

LordAdam: China would sweat them into favourable trade deals , America would never be able to close it's doors to China made products or did the transfer of manufacturing to China like so many idiots who believe trump. |
Re: How Did The Corrupt Millitary govts Managed To Build These National Assets? by LordAdam: 12:26pm On Nov 04, 2016 |
sweetgala: We're saying the same thing. America will make deals with China at their expense and the loan will be thrown off. You should also keep it in mind that China also has its own debts, reported to be around $4.3 trillion. I'm curious to know how big it'd be when they've held their current ranking for ten more years. And by the way, China's share of America's $19.2 trillion dollar debt is only 7% ($1.3 trillion). U.S. citizens and entities own 67.5% of the debt. [Source] So you need to take a chill pill. Everyone borrows heavily! -Lord |

LordAdam: It's not good news either ways as the write up suggests , their only way out is to reduce the size of government , cut costs majorly etc that is not the American way unfortunately and that is why they are driving down the price of Brent crude |
