I have not quite firmed up summer 2017 but its a toss between Greece and Canada.

Looking to relocate to Canada in 2-3years time. I know Toronto and environs but want to explore some other areas. I was initially attracted to warm parts of the USA cos of their reasonable real estate. It is now a no go area for mua. I wont even go enroute the US the way I am feeling at the moment.

Thanks for the response you gave here. Please I have similar question but ours is 5 bedroom duplex ( ensuit). Considering present cost of materials, what's the rough estimate of material and Reasonable amount for labour to do plumbing of the place (piping); i understand size of building and other factors come into play. Assuming it's just 5 bathrooms, kitchen, laundry room. I will appreciate your response pls.

I apologize for resubmitting my question not knowing you have responded. I will sure search for the mechanical drawing and send to you: yes we will use Nigerian made pipes and copper for hot water. So what should o expect on average cost of piping.

In my experience, I found that with the screeded cement wall, the paint that I used was somewhat less. It also meant that the finish after painting was very beautiful, when you also have water splashes it easily washes off.

Trust you are good.
I used PPR pipe in the end, and TBH It cost more than what I envisaged. However, I like to think that local PVC pipes, as long as they are well fitted and not disturbed (no breaking of walls and when buried underground, the depth needs to be very good to avoid it squashing), they will equally last as long as PPR when running cold. I also used PPR for hot as well, apart from heat loss which is minimal and the fact that non welded joints can have a tendency to leak due to the fact that where there is movement, leaks can happen. Whilst working with heating engineers here, they told me that they always prefer to use compression welding of 15mm pipes in hard to reach areas (like under floor boards) and sockets/joints on surfaces that they can easily reach. Are there such standards in Nigeria or is it anything goes ?

I dont see any problems using copper pipe. Older houses used copper pipes and majority of them are still standing today and no issues.

Please correct me if i am wrong with any of my analysis above.

Oga maverick, you are right, the issue with Nigeria pressure pipe is that most of them can't withstand medium or high pressure most domestic houses needed, due to low and surbstand materials used to manufactured them, (no standard control of product in Nigeria any more) so once you place 2-5bar pressure on them they will boast so also the China made fitting they with it. ( some Nigerian like cheap thing sha).more so most copper pipe in the market now are not real copper as you might think, so thinking of encho pipe and technogreen pipe now are just the best for standard house. ( this is Nigeria we have sub standard structure) .
They design encho pipe and technogreen in a way that if tonsion force act on a structure (although this doesn't happen much in Nigeria expect where there is a bill board) the pipe will still go back to its position withouts any breakage . so if you are building a medium , high rise or towal building or you need medium or high pressure of water in your building go for tech or encho product, if its bungalow with low pressure bar use Nigeria pipe ( although all hand are not equal)

Thanks Rotech for answering my questions. As per the 2-5 bar, i doubt if most houses get that in Nigeria if gravity fed without a pressure machine or pump.

Lastly, how many meters higher than a shower rose should a tank be ? The calculation that i use is 1m = 0.1 bar. Thames water here which use a mains pump machine is like 1 bar. Will 0.2 bar be sufficient for Nigeria to take a shower ? I hear some say 5 feet above shower rose.

Been a While i did any serious writing in this section. So Let me share a little something-something with the folks.

Lets Talk Changeover Switches.

Changeover switches are a constant in electrical installations in Nigeria; Domestic or Industrial. A lot of folks are however not very aware of the various designs, presentations and types available to them as options.

Manually operated changeovers are available in two major presentations:
(1)The Off-load and (2) On-load designs.

These are different from MCB changeovers (which are also manual) or ATS Automatic Transfer Switches (which as the name implies are not manual)

Pictured is a 100A Havells On-load changeover measuring about 1ft x 1ftx 0.6ft (this is just one example of an onload type) compact yet efficient.An offload changeover of the same rating would be about one and a half times that size(volume) and weight twice as much.

Offload Changeover designs have a spring loaded engaging mechanism with a side-operated lever. The loud sound you hear when you switch sources, is the sound of the spring forcing the teeth into a mating contact with a receiving part.

On-load changeovers on the other hand are designed differently. usually with bevel gear mechanisms and incorporate a front-facing rotary handle.

While Some are very okay with their offload changeovers some others would prefer the on-load option given the inherent advantages if they knew about it.This is not to say that offload changeovers are not good or that they do not last. Because that is not true (it is ultimately dependent on the brand and quality you buy). The off-load vs On-load analogy is simply akin to comparing a Manual to an Automatic tranny . While some automobile brands still offer both in many of their models, it is agreeable that the later is an improvement and is usually the more desirable of the two.
