Lion of Judah

Jesus is referred to as the lion of the tribe of Judah because, though he was born of spiritual conception, Joseph is his earthly father. Joseph is a descendant of the tribe or clan of Judah going by the genealogy of Jesus, hence the reference.

Reuben act of adultery caused the firstborn double portion birthright blessing to be transferred to Joseph, another firstborn.
Joseph being the firstborn of Jacob's second wife, Rachel, whom Jacob so loved that he actually had to work another extra seven years in order to be able to marry her

Let's look at it this way. after what Davidi did to Uria's wife, Bathsheba. There was a curse on his lineage. Even After God forgave Him and made Solomon King. Imorality and Incest Became a Trend in the Family. Judah Slept with his son's widow unknowingly, Absolom slept with all of David's wifes on the roof top. Tamar was also defiled by her brother, David's son.

So, when it was time for Jesus to come. He needed to come from Judah as rightly explained by Mediator97. but there was bad blood in the family. So a disconnection was needed so as to start a new Era for the divine Kingship that was promised Judah by Jocob their father.

Now the Lion dosent eat anyhow meat. It eats Meat that it kills by itself. It dosent pick up left-overs. Jesus is called the "Lion" of the tribe of Judah because he didn't eat the meat that was being served from generation to generation in Judah's Tribe. He came through a virgin hence cutting the transfer of that bad blood.
